Our Family has grown by one more....We took Bella (the red nose) in as a foster for two weeks....that was a year ago. NO BAD DOGS, ONLY BAD OWNERS!

This was our beloved Spanky. Unfortunately he had a spinal injury and after two years of every treatment we could try he lost his battle. There is not a day that goes by that we don't miss him. He truly exemplified the meaning of man's best friend. The first two pictures are of him and my daughter (9 days old). He NEVER left her side and always was always so very gentle and sweet with her. He changed so many peoples' perception of these dogs as most folks could not believe just how sweet and loving he truly was.

Now....Koah and Jada....oh boy what a team these two are! We rescued Koah 2 1/2 yrs ago at 5 months old and he was a HOLY TERROR. 16 weeks of training and now he's a champ! A really long story but a year after we got him we found his younger sister (3 months old) living in a really bad neighborhood chained to a tree...I offered the guy some $$ and he let me take her home. She is way too sweet. The Halloween picture is from 2008, Koah is now 100lbs and his chest is to big to fit any of the Halloween costumes we tried on at Petsmart....I guess next year we'll just strap a saddle on his back and tell everyone he's a horse

Maddie used to like to fit herself into the little dip behind the seats of my S2k.

i was glad to find this revived thread.it combines two of my favorite things, dogs and nsx's.

this is my little guy andy.he's the handsome one in the front.i'm the less handsome one in the back.he's a shelter mutt, was pretty unhappy when i got him,but has come into his own as a sweet, fantastic dog.all he wants to do is be my buddy, and he helps me a lot.

i really love dogs, and study on them a lot.our shared history is tens of thousands of years old.they gave up being wild animals and attached themselves and devoted themselves to people.this helped our civilization develop as they provided guarding, protection, the ability to keep and herd livestock, and most of all their primary role now of companionship (and comic relief).

our job is to love them and take care of them, which is a pleasure.

Well said.

Here are some pictures of The World's Best Dog, our Border Collie named "Tree".

I have been twice-blessed. I could swear Tree is the reincarnation of my first dog Herbie (RIP), a Border Collie / Husky mix, only, Herbie, please forgive me for saying it, Tree is even more awesome.

He is 9 and a half years old, in fantastic condition. I absolutely adore this dog. He is so in tune with us, understands SO many words and phrases, and has an understanding of us and our speech almost like a human's. Incredible.

We also have taken in a 3.5 year old red Aussie, "Cody" who is slowly working his way into our hearts as well. He and Tree are now best buddies, play very well together. We are hoping Tree can show Cody how to behave. We know Tree took a few years before he settled down and became the World's Best Dog.

Oh, BTW, the other Border Collie in the sketch in my avatar, "Layla", is now living near Atlanta. We have dear friends that had lost their Border Collie mix just before we visited them a few years ago, and their dog was a LOT like Layla. Tree and Layla were always in competition with each other. Layla really needed to be in a one-dog family, so we re-homed her there. Our friend's family loves her to pieces and it was a win-win-win-win for both our families, for Tree, and for Layla. We miss her but she has done very well.

I know I am going to be a basket case when Tree goes to doggie heaven. I can only hope it is years into the future.

yeah,a great dog gets in your heart.my previous dog barney lived to be 15.when he turned 14,i started dreading his eventual death.then,i tried to turn that around and just appreciate that i had him longer than i expected to. that helped a lot.i was still crushed when he died, but was able to enjoy his later days a lot.

Yeah, I can believe this list.

It took three mornings to teach our Border Collie "Tree" to get the newspaper. Problem is, he never gives me my change.

Seriously, he already knew the "pick it up" and "bring" commands from frisbee training. It was simply a matter of naming the newspaper. The first morning it was "pick it up" standing over the newspaper on the driveway and pointing to it. We did that three-four times that morning. The second morning it was from the front door, leading him to the paper and repeating the commands. The third morning it was opening the front door and saying "go get the newspaper!".

After that it was unspoken, open the front door, get the newspaper then get breakfast.
