oil preasure gauge is maxed out...?

When the car is off, the gauge is at 3
as soon as the car starts the gauge is max at 8

i dont think it is oil preasure, the car runs fine...
what is the cause????????

Either a bad gauge or sending unit, most likely. Both items are known to go bad.

i guess ill change the sending unit first and than see what happens

Make sure and change both of the o-rings while you're in there. I replaced the sensor and the o-rings a week or so ago because they were leaking pretty substantially.

Doesn't oil light almost mean "engine dead?" I know on some cars if you get the oil light its basically to tell you that you fail and must rebuild your engine. One particular car that comes to mind is the Subaru STI. I know it seems rediculous but I have seen it happen. Oil light then spun bearing a few minutes later if not when the oil light comes on. Some oil lights mean half low too. So what exactly is the NSX one saying no oil or low oil?
