Has anyone removed the cigarette lighter assembly from the plastic tray? I want to replace it with a dual USB fast charger, but I can't tell if it is press-fit or clips into the plastic housing. I really don't want to break it!

I have, but the one in my F-150 always works its way out over time and is annoying lol, so I want to put in a permanent solution- I'm going to wire it to the factory harness.
The lighter socket can be removed easily...from memory either a small but and/or unscrew the outer body shell.
Managed to figure it out. You need to unclip the white/blue wire from the white plastic clamshell. Then unscrew the large crimped metal nut on the back of the lighter unit. What sucks now is my new USB charger has a slightly larger diameter than the hole on the NSX housing. A little sandpaper should fix it.
