Today, a few members of the NSX Club of New Mexico (The Road Runners) had the chance to meet three Indy 500 Champions: Parnelli Jones, Al Unser, Sr; and Al Unser, Jr. The occasion was a memorabilia signing event at the Unser Racing Museum in Albuquerque, NM. Parnelli Jones has one victory; Al Unser, Sr, has four, and Al Unser, Jr, has two. Not present was Bobby Unser, who has three Indy 500 victories. It's hard to believe that one family has captured nine victories at the Brickyard.
In the attached photos are from left to right: Al Unser, Jr; Al Unser, Sr; and Parnelli Jones. (Incidentally, Parnelli Jones is the oldest living Indy 500 winner.) All three of these winners were very gracious. Also in the photos is Don L., owner of a '91 twin turbo NSX.
If anyone has the chance to visit Albuquerque don't miss the Unser Racing Museum, It is full of race cars, including three of the cars the Unsers drove to victory in Indianapolis. There are also lots of race videos and some simulators. Al Unser, Sr, is usually on premise, too.
Lastly, thanks to the Unser Racing Museum for making this event possible.
