Hey guys I need a little help.

I checked my spare tire and found it to be badly dry rotted and cracked.

I remember reading a post on some forum (maybe the Forums Nazi can provide insite) about the possibility of a spare from a prelude fitting. is that true? The Acura dealer did not know.

I don't feel safe driving much distance until this is fixed so any help on my options?

Thanks for the info, ebay to the rescue once again...

Just for my information though, can a new spare tire me mounted or do you really have to buy the hole unit.

hg.

You have to buy the whole unit. And it lists for $900. Even with a Tracy Townsend discount, it's expensive.

Fortunately, they go up for sale periodically, as folks get big brake kits.

I will sell my spare for $100 + shipping, I am going to post it on the market forum. I am also selling my 2 remote controls and a 93 service manual.

Can the remotes be re-programmed to work with different module? If so I'm interested.

TIA

No, that was my brother, the FAQ Nazi. Reports of my own demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Justin,

Do you have a big brake kit? Or do you just have aftermarket tires that are too wide to fit in the trunk?

If it's the latter, you might want to use the spare, if you don't have a passenger with you. You can keep a folded-up large plastic bag in the trunk (hardly takes up space) and put the flat tire in the bag before putting it on the passenger seat. You'll want to test the bag first, though; I've found that 39-gallon lawn and leaf bags fit for the stock tires, but they're a somewhat close fit.

Just a thought.

I don't know. I saw someone wanting the remote 6 or so months ago, so I figure it can. I live in Orlando, so pretty close to Boca Raton.
