At idle on a 1992 NSX, there is a vibration (shimmy) in the steering wheel at idle which gets worse up to about 1500 rpm. It seems to happen only when cold but you can actually see the steering wheel shimmy and I was wondering if this is normal. Thanks

Well I don't know what could cause that but my 1991 does a similiar thing. At idle it shakes slightly and when going quick (150++ kph) the problem is even greater. 200kph corners can get a little harry as the shake makes the car a little unstable. I wish I knew what it is for it doesn't feel right. Maybe it's the steering rack, or the 17/18" wheels?

There is a TSB bulletin number 94010 that is titled steering wheel shimmy, but I don't know where to get more info about the TSB. Anbody?

The vibration at just over idle is normal and is from the engine. It will do it even if the car is parked as long as you rev it up to 1500 RPM. See http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Troubleshooting/roughidle.htm for more info.

Vibration in the steering wheel at high speed caused by wheels/tires that are not quite balanced properly. Find a shop that does high-performance cars (i.e. who the local race guys use) and get them rebalanced. Damaged or bent rims or unevenly worn tires can make it impossible to balance them properly.

You should be able to get info on any TSB from your local dealer as long as you have a decent relationship with them.
