Bought my NSX about a month and a half ago and have been checking things off the list. I'm still taking pics but wanted to get this thread going to document the work. I spent a lot of time here figuring out how some of the work was done and my hopes are that maybe some of this will help others.

Pioneer AVH-3300BT
MTX Thunder 5302
MTX Thunder 3202
Alpine 6.5" with components

The OEM finish on the dash is really something special. Nowadays everything is cheap plastic.

Used Loctite Epoxy to build up the sides. Pretty good stuff. If you use it dont let it sit out to long before molding it. You can pretty much lop it on there and get a basic mold right away.

I will be updating this thread with new pics later on this week. Just have to finish mounting the amps in the trunk. Overall, I was nervous cutting into the dash but it turned out good. I am really enjoying the NSX. Next up is the Nav pod and I am getting the itch to paint my black roof red to match the car but we shall see. I just got it out of the body shop today. Here is a quick pic with my iPhone.

UPDATE: added some more double din pics

Very nice, clean, meticulous work!

Thanks guys! Let me know if anyone has any questions. I am by no means a pro but have been learning a lot about this car through this process.

@joboy - its the VIS NSX-R wing. Fitment was pretty good. Its a little off on the left side but I think its mostly my OCD kicking in telling me its not 100%. Still trying to decide if I like it or not with the black roof and as much as I want to quit spending money on the car a red roof keeps speaking to me. Hopefully there are is another FR NSX at the socal meet tomorrow night that I can look at.

@myw - the wheel setup is the 17/18 Work s2R combo from SOS

update:: Just got the stereo tuned and fully mounted in the dash. It sounds great! Will get post pics later this afternoon.

Perhaps I'm bias because my roof is red:biggrin: but I'm
Voting for the red roof bro. I say do it! I know what you mean by trying to stop spending on it for a while. I've been the same way thinking "okay one more move", but I'm always finding myself immediately on to the next lol. But yea, I can send you more pictures of my red one if you need more of one with a red roof. It's all a matter or preference, but I like the matching roof better.

Yes - it is a matter of preference. I like the black roof better. But I have never seen an ugly NSX.

Fantastic looking work on the console by the way. One day I'd like to go to a double DIN unit. One day.... *sigh*

+1

Well, with the exception of a couple maybe lol. It's VERY difficult to make such beautiful lines unappealing though.

If you get around to doing that double din update us with photos. I LOVE seeing other's work with the NSX.

Well, I just started a thread in the "Builds" section. The work (while not a lot of mods) will be done by Ben @ Daisy Auto - One of the best. :)

Wow, that "Honda Graphite Grey" from Autozone looks as close to OEM as I've ever seen. Is that a one step process or is there more steps involved?

nice work!

Will your ashtray door still open?

Not quite yet. I need to move the head unit up a little more before I can move the door all the way up.

Great work! I'm going to have to get you to do my Double Din install!!

I might be willing to do it. Shoot me a PM.

Its pretty close! Looking back I think there might be an even closer one out there but I'm happy with it for now. I just ordered the nav pod so I will see what it looks like when I get that in there.

You are the f$&@ing man. Awesome work. Can't tell in the pics where you mount the tweeters. I should check out your double din work one day. I still hesitate to do the double din thing. maybe you can do my double din too , for a price of course and spend the money for more mods!!

Thanks! I will get some better pics tomorrow of the tweeter and amps mounted on the sides of the trunk. Regarding the double din mod. I'm considering doing it for some members here. I'm happy with the way it turned out so if there is enough interest, we'll see.

Holy bejezus that is impressive work. What's the ballpark cost of all those components?

Also, would you recommend the Honda Graphite Grey paint for restoring the finish on a bubbling console trim? Is it a close enough match to the original finish? Honda wants too much for a replacement trim panel. Thanks!
