Stock exhaust system - Stainless Steel Construction?

I met a person who owns a 1st generation M5, and his exhaust system rusted through the 1st year of ownership. Then he went aftermarket. I never intended to swap out my exhaust system, however, if the stock exhaust is not going to last the life of my car, and an aftermarket stainless steel exhaust will, I will seriously consider changing it out. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Trying to find an excuse to get an aftermarket exhaust...Might as well take it off if its going to rust anyways, right?
