Holy crap what kind of gun is that. I shoot a 50 cal once and it didn't kick that much.
 
Having shot a .577 T-Rex as depicted in that video, I can attest to its recoil. That said, it isn't a cannon, and is more pleasant to shoot than, say, a Carl Gustav recoilless rifle.
 
Accurate reloading used to have a bunch of those vids on their site. Pretty funny to watch. :)
 
WTH How does that caliber and load make any ergonomic sense? Even the guys who were braced and ready were clearly in pain!
These guns, along with the Holland & Holland Nitro Expresses (which came in .500, .600, and even a .700) were generally though of as last ditch rifles when hunting safari game. When you have an elephant charging you, I don't think ergonomics are a shooter's first concern.
