What's your greatest NSX moment?

After racing last weekend at an SCCA autocross event, I had renewed love for my NSX. It was by far my favorite NSX moment, and it made me wonder what crazy moments and stories other NSX owners have! Put em out there, let's see what everyones got!

I just picked mine up 2 weeks ago, and I love the looks people give you when you drive by or people just stopping in to where your parked just to take a look.

Love it.

Going two wide into turn 2 at Thunderhill against another NSX (and Prime member) his car was much more modified than my car and he couldn't keep pace with me until the exit of turn 6 where he could use all his extra ponies to put a small gap between us

When I drove it out of the show room. 500 miles later I was home and my face hurt from smiling:biggrin:

I can't pinpoint one particular moment BUT I would say the best thing the NSX has done for me is bring passion back to my life. Before I was just relaxed and took the future as it came. Now, I am looking forward to the next month since my NSX will be that much closer to being what I want it to be.

My greatest moment was when I first spotted my 91 NSX languishing in a used car lot about eight years ago. It had been neglected by the previous owner (who was not the original owner), but that didn't prevent me from stopping dead in my tracks. My eyes saw the flaws, but my heart didn't. I bought the car on impulse (something that I rarely do), and I paid dearly for it...but it didn't matter. With every repair or upgrade, I knew that I was restoring a car worthy of having Ayrton drive it past the limit.

The labor of love continues, and I don't know that I'll ever stop tweaking, tuning, and improving a classic. There has never been a single moment of regret...

I was driving out of the neighborhood the other day, when suddenly I spotted a pile of dog crap in the road. Using the incredible handling characteristics of the car I was able to swerve at the last moment and avoid running over it.
That was awesome.

That's pretty much where I'm at too. I'm in the high four figures (soon to be low five if anything else breaks) getting this car back to pristine. It's a long way from done, but it's worth it...

my first nsxpo.......being in the company of so many nsx owners/fans was amazing.

Taking my NSX to my favourite track for the first time and setting the days fastest time in the oldest car there.

mine was when after 8 days of being on a car hauler coming from Cali after buying it. i rolled up with 3 of my boys seeing it with my own eyes for the first time giddy as a school girl. the driver had just taken it off the truck. getting those keys from the driver, starting the car, taking the top off and realizing im the proud new owner of an NSX.

This day here where I took it to a track for the first time and realized how incredible this cvar really is where you just CANT appreciate on the streets.

Have only had mine since June but I have two.

Getting off the plane from Tampa to Nashville and driving it for the first time ...

And 3 weeks later when it was parked at a McLaren dealership having a crowd of people surround my car and ask questions when there were 300,000 dollar cars parked inside

Riding shotgun with Gansan, the premier race car driver of Japan, doing some hot laps around Suzuka Circuit in a NSX-R. (see pic below) Accelerating, corner drifting, apex clipping, passing wherever and whenever the whole time never falling 1.5k below red line with him declaring after passing each car how the one up ahead was next... and making it so!

SO cool.

Well since mines a 5spd I'd say doing a pull next to someone in second and laughing when they shift and you still have 2k rpm left to go on the tach. ;)

Agreed.

Or, driving someone else's car and realizing you have to get out of 2nd before you can go on the highway...

HAHA Whenever anyone asks me how an NSX handles, which everyone one does at an autocross, I'm going to answer. "Well it handles well enough to avoid a pile of crap you just saw on the road" This is a pretty good one!

I wanted to add another best moment too. A dude in a VR4 blows past me in a turn where there was an oncoming car and gets loose and starts to loose control. I have to decide to go off the road or cut the turn tighter and go below his fishtailing car. So I accelerate and cut to the left as the car passes me and just barely avoid the VR4 front end that was also cutting to the left. The guy held it together but he hit a sign when sliding out to the right. I'm just glad he didn't hit me. It was one hell of an adrenaline rush though!

Picking it up in SF and prior getting on the cross country drive, I took it on the Big Sur region of the PCH for 2 hours around sunset. I couldn't of planned it any better if I had intended. Between the scenery, the new car, the sound of the engine in my left ear and the waves crashing 200ft below at my right was beyond incredible.

The other 3500 miles of the trip wasn't as fun though :)

Meeting fellow NSX owners, and the stares and comments from people on the street have been great. But, what tops it all off is Kids Day at Watkins Glen. The joy on the faces of those brave cancer survivors after a few laps in the NSX just brings tears of joy to your eyes.

Thanks! But seriously … probably the most memorable moment was the day I bought it and drove it home. Remember Eddie Murphy in “Raw?” He said you wait and wait to have sex until one day it happens and when it finally does you can’t believe you’re doing it. Same thing with driving an NSX.
A close second on the memorable moments list was driving on the mountain at NSXPO a couple of years ago: something I always wanted to do. Houston is flat!

Susuka Circuit, 2010, NSX Club of Japan member handing me the keys to his NSX Type S, so I could take a few laps... OMG!!!

Susuka Circuit, 2010, same day as above. Standing in the pit lane with Shigeru Uehara and two Honda engineers, discussing installing a 4.23 and allowing the EPS to work in US models. That is somewhat of a mystery, even today;).

Regards,

That is pretty friggin epic!!

Agreed!

There have been so many awesome and unforgettable moments with the NSX, it's impossible to narrow it down to just one. But if I had to pick one, it would probably have to be at my first NSXPO (in 2003), when we had a CHP escort during our caravan from Comptech to dinner at Napa Valley Grill. They stopped rush hour traffic for us and blocked off the freeway (and even encouraged us to romp on it!) so we could all stay together. More pics here and here.
