Where are all the Production deliveries ??

so to our new owner.....does all the reviewers contempt for the paddle shifter feel and some interior bits carry water?

you might have skipped this ?

you might have skipped this ?

To me at least, it feels as luxurious as it is supposed to.

To me, this kind of car is supposed to get you with the way it looks and drives, not how luxurious the cockpit is.

That being said my RS7 is way more refined but again, that is what I would expect from a luxury sedan.

I don't use the paddle shifters, it shifts well enough on its own (granted I am not a track driver).

You also do not get any kind of crazy exhaust noise from forcing a downshift at higher RPMs. My RS on the other hand, sounds like some kind of weapon when I downshift with the paddles, way more gratifying.

thanks for the feedback

Interesting on the no "throttle blip" sound on downshifts. I wonder if it is using the EV motor to spin up the ICE for rev-matched downshifts instead of gas throttle blip.

With 9 gears, there's not as much need for rev-matching when dropping only one gear I suppose, but what about when you are putting around in 9th gear and go WOT and it drops several gears at once? Still no throttle blip exhaust note?

With two clutches it doesn't need to rev match does it?
Gear are preselected so no need to match.

The blipping feature is more of a thing that manufacturers are offering to create excitement, driver engagement.

anither hot (literally)feature lately is the backfire/spit flames thing. I believe McLaren includes a switch to facilitate this

It reduced/eliminates the shock to the drive wheels that downshifting without rev match would create. Just like if you downshift in a manual car and simply dump the clutch. If the force to spin up the engine doesn't come from the engine or motor, it will come from the car's momentum which is a no-no.

Right you are, good point.

My '09 GT-R rev matches (as I suspect any/most DCT will do) and under most conditions, the shift i seamless. Only clue is the engine rpm (sound) change and gear indicator. Under extreme or opposite slow poke conditions I can sometime feel the shift, but it is subtle.

How do DCT cars handle starting from standing still? Does the car creep forward as soon as you take your foot off the brake, as is familiar from driving a conventional automatic with torque converter?

I can only speak about my GT-R.
With brake pedal down, both clutches are released at startup.
Upon brake release, it will creep like a typical auto due or a partially released slipping manual clutch suggesting it too is partially releasing/slipping clutch engagement.
I was told... then the Compute observes gas pedal depression (how much and how fast) as an input for controlling full clutch engagement/release.
What ever the actual particulars are, it is seamless and at rest is like a typical auto with sipping torque converter... even though one does not exist.
Though I will say my older '09 GTR's DCT can be a little jerky in initial take off.
I understand newer versions are better.
Things should be much better in the NSX with front EMs doing smoth and instant start off work while rear DCT catches up.
The EM in rear is still held back by DCT delays... though ever so short ones at that.

Real owners can confirm how it feels of course.
I'm guessing I'm at least about 2 months from that actual / personal knowledge.

The video is from last year, but it's still nice to see the new NSX in action.

Time for a fun update

Y spoke wheel list prices are $845 rear, $768 front (prices may be slightly different, I was driving during the chat). Acura says you have to replace replace the wheels your car was configured with, the the same wheel.

Due to dealerships pressuring Acura about this clown car project, Jon Ikeda will provide biweekly email news blasts to dealers specific to the NSX.

The NSX specialists are willing to chat with folks in the locked owners only section of prime. Lee already has an account here.

He will look into why we aren't being informed once a build is within the 2-3 month window referred to in the playbook.

Another playbook is coming.

Replica car shipments are triggered from the dealership completing a registration (expect 1 to 2 months from registration).

He will look into how long an oil change should take. They have standard rates for warrantee work and he may be able to get something from that approach.

No update on how many cars have been built. Let's hope for next week. Could not confirm if all the wave 1 coverage units have been built.

His info about 10-15 cars coming to Canada at one time real soon is consistent with what folks here have said.

Tour info is due by mid October.

Pilot informs him when they do shipments.

The most recent car delivered to a US owner had a serial # in the 50s.

No confirmation about cars at Monterey for test drives but here are 5 of them lines up out there

Fast,

What I meant is it is about selling cars.

The feature results in cool sounds with no work. Watch a salesman do his magic.

I completely agree that the act is good for the car itself and for stability. GM Europe did a nice video touting the stability from the features in Vettes.

Back in the 80s I had to double clutch and blip my sad old 2002 with its bad synchros to get it through the day.

Bricks and Bio thanks for all the updates. I nominate you as the new 2017 Nsx ambassador.

As per the notice I just posted to the top of this section, now that real customer deliveries are occurring it's time to launch the private 2nd gen Owner section of the forums. I invite anyone who has received their new NSX or has a "locked" order for one to e-mail me for access. One of our members (who is welcome to reveal himself if he wishes) has arranged for something in there which I believe owners will find very beneficial!

Funny thing about that video though--
even with the rev matching turned on, the car abruptly slows down when
he lets the clutch out at 2:04 (or at least, the video gives that impression
from how the camera isn't held still at that point). Maybe it was sloppy
technique on the driver's part but that kind of abruptness is just the
effect you'd like rev matching to reduce.

Why exactly do you need a "Secret Agent" 2nd gen Owner section?

Does Acura even care how they insult dedicated ACTUAL ORDER/buyers? We put money up front based on faith in Acura w/o any test driving etc. and in many cases w/o seeing the actual car. (like when I placed deposit in June'13)
Evidently NOT if so many dealers have been able to order spec cars vs ones for actual committed depositors. So this only adds to the delay (and bitterness toward ACURA) which many of us are experiencing. I'm sure I'll love the car, but their lack of control, information (specifically to real buyers), and overall poor process... JUST SUCKS! That NEGATIVE image is going to last for a very long time, if not forever. Are you (someone who cares and can actually do something in ACURA) reading this forum and learning ANYTHING? And if so... let's see some appropriate corrective action!

Gadgetman,

My apologies if my posting of available cars is leading to anguish.

I am just keeping tabs on production and letting folks see what the dealers are up to

I went into this expecting the dealers to attempt to collect some monopoly rent on these cars.

I will say that Acura is keeping tabs on which dealerships are behaving in this way but I doubt they will really do anything. Like I have said before, Acura is married to these folks. We can go to another brand.

On the brand topic, I completely agree that Acura is bungling big time. When I spoke to the NSX rep yesterday, I asked him to watch the yahoo finance video interview of the Bentley rep at Monterey as an example of what they should be doing to support the marketplace.
