Which color to order the new 2022 Type S NSX?

I specced out Curva Red (black as secondary option), red seats with black center, gloss black wheels, and nothing else. With Acura demanding the build sheet the night I put down my deposit I didn't have time to think about the lightweight package which would have changed everything. The standard brakes only look good with red, black, and white. If you get a different color you're going to have to upgrade the brakes to get a different caliper color. It's the most expensive car I've ever purchased and so having that dollar amount creep up freaked me out. I kinda wish I would have got the lightweight package though, I mean what's $13k when you're at that price?

Type S Color

I got an allocation, placed the order on 8/13, provided the $10,000 deposit, I was the first in line at the dealership, my check cleared, I assume that I will hear from Acura in Sept. I place the order with a regional Acura Sales Rep. as the salesman I contacted was on vacation on the preview date (8/12).

I chose the Valencia Red Pearl as my first choice color, Novella Blue Pearl as alternate color, I did not choose the matte gray as I am not a fan of matte and I was not sure it could be ceramic coated, I may have got a Gray allocation as my order was placed about 10:15 AM on 8/13, but I decided on the red as I have 2 blue cars now. I also selected black leather interior, high gloss black wheels and the lightweight package with red brake calipers, I added the Technology package to get SirrusXM radio, I did not select accessories, I was told the dealer will contact me for accessories (the dealer installs them) when they have an estimated build and delivery date.

I plan to go to the factory if they still have it available, also the engine factory and time on their test track.

I currently own a 2019 Corvette Grand Sport and a Porsche 911, the GS is a 7 speed manual, I will sell it before the end of the year to make garage space for the NSX beside the Porsche, I will miss the manual.

2022 Type S

I am new to the forum, I ordered on 8/13, Valencia Red Pearl, black full leather interior, gloss black wheels, lightweight package with Red calipers, SirrusXM. My check for the deposit cleared, I expect I will get an allocation as I have heard dealers are holding checks for unallocated orders.

I’m new here as well I ordered the Gotham grey loaded out with red leather seats… ordered sent on the 12th at 9pm.. I also got Sirus XM and my check cleared fingers crossed I got the car. My second color option was casino pearl white which was a really hard decision but I think will look good with all the carbon fiber. Curva red I think also looks really nice in the videos they show. I also think the indy yellow with carbon contrast is sick.

Wondering does adding Sirus XM had a shark fin on top ? Not sure how that will look not seeing any pictures to show this ..

I have seen Long Beach Blue in person on a NA2 NSX, but never in person on the NC1. I absolutely love the Long Beach blue on the NA2, but when I look at pictures of Long Beach Blue on the NC1, as well as Youtube Videos, it looks different, like a lighter shade of blue. Can anyone confirm that Long Beach Blue is identical (or different) between the NA2 and NC1?

Fingers crossed I get a Type S. Deposit has been placed. I put Gotham Grey as first choice but still need to decide on my second choice. Nouvelle Blue looks good in certain light, but has some purple in it based on many pictures and Youtube videos I've seen lately. I'm torn between the two blues.

I love the LLB with carbon contrast it’s more striking to me

from whom did you hear that?

The S Type is the second most expensive car I've ordered (hopefully I get it as it isn't an allocated order) and the most expensive in 20 years. The Ferrari I got back then cost slightly more than the S Type (of course way more if you were to put it in today's dollars). I traded in my 2000 NSX to get the Ferrari and later really regretted making the trade. I had some bad experiences with several BMWs, Mercedes AMGs and an Audi A8. I've been a multi car household and had 19 different Lexus's and a Toyota Sienna Van. None of those ever gave me any issues. The only German car I never had a problem with was my Porsche 911. It's a lot of money at close to $190K but after such a positive experience with the 2017 NSX I have I figured it is well worth the $. I did load it up with options so it came out to $187,995 (just $1K for the yellow) and that's without all the accessories which will be dealer installed. I had my order configured late the night of August 12 after the reveal. I basically spent the whole evening mulling over possibilities on the configurator on the Acura website and ran my selection by my daughter and GF. I very strongly considered the Nouvelle blue pearl exterior but finally decided to go with the Indy yellow pearl since my LC500 convertible is Structural blue. I chose the red full leather interior to spice things up a little and went with the gloss wheels and red calipers on carbon ceramic brakes.

Incidentally, in another thread I mentioned that a friend of my daughter's had traded in her Huracan Evo for a Huracan STO. Now, after just a couple of weeks with the STO, she decided to sell the STO and today put a deposit on a 2020 NSX (black on black). I had taken her for a ride in my NSX a couple of months ago and let her drive it for few miles and I think she was very surprised at how comfortable and quick the car was and how good the visibility is and also at how confidently she could drive it through curves:)

Are there any real photos of the matte shark grey wheels? I saw some folks picked that over the gloss black, I have a hard time imaging what matte wheels look like in real life.

I was doing an analysis on this and getting the Lightweight package at $13K is a better deal compared to IF you were to add those components later on. For e.g just the MSRP on the front ceramic brake rotor is $5815 and Rear break rotor is $4485. So just the ceramic brake rotors would run you approx $20K ($14K after discounts). Then you have to add in the break pads and labor, so it would be well over the $13K for the lightweight package. In a way you are are not only saving weight but also getting superior braking along with Carbon fiber engine cover and interior... No brainier there...

2022 NSX Order

from whom did you hear that?

It was in a post from a person who has an order in line (unallocated) at a CA dealer, it said that dealers were holding checks for orders beyond the 1 or 2 car allocation to be able to submit the order with deposit verification if they received additional allocation. After reading many of the post on this forum, I am not sure what the allocation # for dealers are, if non NSX certified dealers receive an allocation or how the orders are accepted by Acura. I assume there are more than 299 USA orders, as the #1 of 300 was auctioned (I read that Hendrick bought #001 , I also read he bought the #001 for the 2017 model year at auction too).

Everyday I flip flop on color, but I'm now strongly leaning towards LBB.

For those of you who also picked LBB, what color wheels did you go with? The black or grey? Both seem like great choices.

And what color calipers to compliment? I'm thinking that no matter what caliper I choose, I'll likely have them painted LBB to match the car.

I do favor the lighter exterior colors with the Type S. I went with matte wheels and good idea on painting the calipers. Out of curiosity, what makes you think your order is changeable at this point? Did I miss an update?

Thanks!

I probably would get grey if I got LLB

Just finished watching F9 and that silver NSX looks sick didn’t think silver would look so good on the NSX to bad they don’t offer it for the type S. Looks like the casino pearl white has some silver in it on some angles, would be the closest to that if I don’t get Gotham grey which I doubt I’ll even get due to everyone picking it as first choice. I honestly don’t the the Gotham grey is the best color for the car as mentioned above it hides a lot of the shape of the car… thoughts?

exactly order sheets with your picks should be in...I'm thinking once each customer gets confirmation of a car then you could make a change early in the process..

My Dealer said that if I was unable to get my #1 choice of Gotham Grey because they were already accounted for, that I could easily change my #2 choice as the rest of the colors are not limited. It's my understanding that tomorrow is all about allocations/orders, not necessarily locking in colors (except Gotham Grey since they are limited to 70).

Thanks for your input.

How do you feel about the Orchid interior with LBB? I think both Ebony and Orchid work well with LBB.

While my current car is Novello blue that was still the color I went with on the new car. That has to be the best paint job on a car I have ever had. I decided on the mat grey wheels and the silver ceramic brake rotors. So I would lose the yellow rotor look I have now but felt that going with the ebony(black) seats full leather looked best overall. The seats and interior have red contrast stitching. I did not want the red calipers against the blue as they are both bright. So the new car would look less standout/striking vs what I have. I suppose I could do silver pin striping if I wanted that look again. Now the only question is if and when I might get the car.

Acura of Pleasanton dealer size?

Hendrick I know owns Acura of Pleasanton where I am on the list. Do you know if they are a top 30, top 70? I am guessing one of these. Just to get an idea of how many allocations they are getting. Thanks for any info.

I don't know..and I am a terrible predictor of volume of sales based on foot print..sometimes looks can be deceiving.

Man, I dunno ... when I saw this pic in Gotham Grey my jaw literally dropped, I don't think there's a more picture perfect capture of the refresh NSX Type-S than this pic taken at Mecum's ... it shows every detail, connecting every curve, every vent, every angle, etc. and just looks sooo ... so gotham (they musta had fun coming up with that name).

didn't you have a few of your own infamous renderings that actually was pretty close to this?
