BBVNSX 93 EDM NSX - From Portugal!

Awesome build and great video! Thanks from the states for sharing.

I came across your thread while searching for a sport cat. I realized you have Sard cat and have to do some fitment issues. I have a NA1 setup, and going to buy a Fujitsubo Super TI exhaust. Would you recommend the sard cat or do you have other suggestion?

Nice build btw. Very clean!

Hi MrHugo!

The reason i experienced fitment issues is because i Have KSP exhaust, meaning i had to rotate the front bank cat 180º. Since your exhaust is not KSP you should be fine!

Too bad photobucket decided to block pictures shared on forums...:mad: i will have to host pictures elsewhere... looking to pictures is much easier:

KSP (without cats, but you can see that the test pipe is rotated 180º because ksp exhaust merges front and rear bank before the back box):

Sard cats look like very high quality parts! i would recomend them but they are expensive!

Thanks,

Bruno

Yes, I saw someone selling for around $1,300 just for cats.... They look like a very good quality piece though. Does it sound like OEM cat?

Primary reason for getting it is for weight saving, but i bet the flow is only marginally better at best.

Why did you choose KSP instead of like Fujitsubo? I only mentioned it because Fujitsubo makes quality exhaust and headers...

The car will be a bit lowder when compared to OEM cats, at least with my setup it is a bit more agressive

Weight savings were also my primary reason! Flow is better for sure, but if your NSX is NA you will experience power gains near the red line, and small gains... But for me (I'm NA too) it was noticiable that the car is very happy on high RPM's.

Fujitsubo is very nice! and it is titanium (very light)! but i decided to go with KSP because:

1 - If KSP is good for Kaz (Kaz is a Private NSX Enthusiast, ex-Honda R&D engineer with F1, Indy/CART background), it is good for me! you can see it here:

http://www.nsxcb.co.uk/showthread.php?6286-NSX-Health-Check-Service&p=72512#post72512

and here:

http://www.nsxcb.co.uk/entry.php?1509-T3-CRAFT-WORKS-%96-Visit-to-Japan-02

2 - I had KSP headers (it was one of the first modifications i did to my car) and they are great quality equal length headers, so when choosing the exhaust i decided to go with a full KSP setup.

3 - Fujitsubo exhaust is made of titanium, if for some reason i need to repair the exhaust in the future it is not easy to find someone to work with titanium here in Portugal.

4 - For me the setup sounds amazing! you can find sound clips here:

Wow, makes me want to get KSP headers. I wonder if Comptech or Fujitsubo Headers are equal length?

Maybe I will get KSP headers, sards cat, and Fujitsubo super Ti exhaust setup.

I don't think Comptech are equal length... Fujitsubo i don't know... If you want to upgrade headers, and want the best i would consider KSP or RFY (AFAIK GT-One headers are re-branded RF-Y's):

See here for RFY:

"KSP headers, sards cat, and Fujitsubo super Ti exhaust" would be for sure a great setup!

Installed, looking good and sounding even better!

Hi Bruno, I'm planning to change my headers and muffler with the KSP too. I do not want to loose torque, and gaining more hp isn't what I'm after as I'm staying in Hong Kong, a small and crowded city, quick throttle response and more torque are what I need. Just trying to find out if KSP is the most suitable exhaust system for me.

And would love to know if the KSP remains as quiet as the oem at idling and low rev, and only gets aggressive at high rev? I like it to be a little loud at idling though.

I also thought of using gt-one ver7 with taitec gt011 headers. I like the high-pitched sound it produces at high rev, but then it sounds like "chainsaw" when releasing the throttle.... and that is something I dislike.... (watched from serval YouTube vids)

Hi johnnyhkh

I didn't notice any loose on torque, on the contrary i felt gains! but if you are looking for low rpm torque maybe you also want to look in to RF-Y headers (AFAIK GT-ONE headers are rebaranded RFY)... see here:

http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showthread.php/196711-Best-1991-Exhaust-Headers?p=1905853&viewfull=1#post1905853

KSP is smooth at idle and not loud at all, only when you step on the throttle the sound will become more agresseive!

If you want KSP mufler, you will have to go with KSP headers, as you need to rotate the front bank cat 180º and this is only possible if you are using KSP headers!

Do you think you can feel a few nm that much? All headers add torque. If you want low end torque go with a supercharger. If you want quick throttle response, go with a light clutch and a standalone.

What about the gt-one muffler with taitec header? Do you have experience on that or anyone here willing to share?

Thanks very much for your sharing Bruno. I just ordered the KSP header, test pipes and muffler too. It will take 3 months to make and ship to me.

Time for an Update!

As i told before, my NSX went on another diet, and I'll be sharing the results on the following posts!

First of all big thanks to austrian type-R for the OEM 02+ rear valence and side skirts, WW front lip and of course the really nice CF parts he is offering! very happy with all the transactions and comunication! A++

Now for the weight comparisions and some photos (OEM vs CF):

Front bumper beam:

OEM:

CF:

-7,32 + 2,20 = -5,12 Kg (-11,29 lbs)

Rear bumper beam;

OEM:

CF:

-6,92 + 1,84 = -5,08 Kg (-11,20 lbs)

Rear bumper beam brackets:

OEM:

CF:

-1,54 + 0,20 = -1,34 Kg (-2,95 lbs)

Rear Wing:

OEM:

CF:

-4,68 + 2,24 = -2,44 Kg (-5,38 lbs)

... to be continued ...

Very nice build Bruno!

I see you're from Northern Portugal. My family is thinking about retiring there within the next few years. My wife is Brazilian and my kids and I know a little Brazilian Portuguese. We would like to travel next summer and spend some time touring Portugal, but mainly along the coast or Northern area (Braga or maybe Caminha if I can convince my wife to live in a small city). What town are you in? Are the roads in good condition? I may or may not try to import a few old vehicles like the NSX depending how the roads are.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi dave!

Thanks on the compliment on my build, means a lot coming from you!

I'm located in Viana do Castelo city, this is really close to Caminha (~13 miles) but it is bigger than caminha (Caminha is a village that belongs to Viana do Castelo district). Viana do Castelo is a great place to stay if you want o be next to the coast (Braga is not in the coast, it is not far ~20 miles, but Viana do Castelo is located next to the coast). I can help you on the stay if you need! just let me know! and if you decide to come i'll be very happy to invite you for a beer and to show you my NSX!

Roads are very good here in Portugal, we have one of the best highway infrastructure in Europe, and there are many great B roads here too! You can bring any car you want

you have a video from Viana do castelo here on my build thread:

Ah, I don't know how I missed the video you posted earlier - Thanks for the link again! You sure have a beautiful country.

Thank you for your kind offers, I really appreciate it and will be in touch.

Oh no, you're going the wrong way! Time to recalibrate your scale. haha :)

you are right! so I figured out a way to save more weight! Removing some parts not needed 😉

Removed Fog lights + brackets:

But added the Garage Kite front duct mesh to replicate NSX-R look and protect a/c condensers:

-1,51 + 0,13 = -1,38 Kg (-3,04 lbs)

Removed front and rear tow hook brackets:

Front:

Rear:

-2,08 -0,85 = -2,93 Kg (-6,46 lbs)

Final weight savings are:

CF Parts VS OEM (-5,12 -5,08 -1,34 -2,44 -1,91) = -15,89 Kg (-35,03 lbs)

02+ OEM VS 91-01 OEM + WW lip (+0,55 + 1,62 +1,66) = +3,83 Kg (+8,44 lbs)

OEM removal + Garge Kite mesh (-1,38 - 2,93) = -4,31 Kg (-9,50 lbs)

So final balance is:

-15,89 + 3,83 -4,31 = -16,37 Kg (-36,09 lbs)
