Encounters with celebs - tell your story

I'm excluding politicians from my list, as I see so many on a daily basis in my industry.

I usually avoid them but met Gov. John Connally when we were both appearing one day on the TV show "Good Morning America" in Boston, many years ago.

The show put us up in the same hotel and he stopped me in the hall when he saw my t-shirt from a now gone NYC club called the "Lone Star Cafe". ("Hey son, hold on there!")

Chatting about beer, bars, music and Texas with a guy who was in the car when Kennedy was assassinated, shucks, hit with one of the bullets, was surreal. It still blows my mind thinking about it.

Very friendly, outgoing guy that loved Texas.

Jesse Jane as mentioned by Vegas Nsx

Ah....thanks. He also mentioned several others....that's why i was wondering. Not up on my porn stars these days.

I’ve met a ton of porn stars through my friend who used to be in the porn industry. Jesse Jane, Brittney Skye, Veronica Jett, others. I saw Jenna, but never got to talk to her. I did a silly interview with Asia Carreraback when the internet was in its infant stage. She was just getting into it too and she agreed to do an interview for my website. That was fun. Did you know she’s smart? I mean really smart? I mean member of MENSA smart?

Houston is a backwater celebrity-wise, which makes any encounter more like sighting Sasquatch.
Once in the artificial flower section of Michael’s I turned the corner and found myself face to face with George Foreman. But everyone has met George Foreman at one point or another, haven’t they?
Disney gave the Broadway version premier of Beauty and the Beast in Houston. We were starting to wonder why the show was so late in beginning when one of the side doors opened and an entourage (actually secret service, I guess) came out. George Bush the elder and Michael Eisner walked in front of me. (BTW, I’ve been to a lot of good shows, but that one was the best productions I’ve ever seen. Seriously.)
I spoke with German Violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter after a concert. If you don’t know who she is, you should look her up; she’s really talented and really hot – especially 10 years ago when I met her.
I met about 10-15 Titanic survivors back in the ‘80’s, Robert Ballard (guy who found the Titanic) and Walter Lord (author).
Minnie Pearl.:redface::biggrin:
George Strait, numerous times, only because I was helping my mother “stalk” him.:frown:
Lisa Hartman passed by me in a C4 in a parking lot once.
The girls in the Eroica Trio (I suppose most of you guys might have to google them), repeatedly.

Plus I know Luis (TxChopperGuy)!

That’s about it after 4 decades.

No shit - didn't know you were at Tech then. My best friend graduated from Tech and just about everyone I'm close went there. I spent a lot of time visiting while I was military, between 1998-2002.

Haha, yeah, I thought we had talked about/mentioned that you live in my old stomping grounds but I can't remember. My family is still all in Fairfax so I go back about once a year. Should be back in October for a wedding.

Smart but did you ever see her without her make-up on

Haha yeah TOTALLY different person. She did her interview without any makeup and she looked like someone's unattractive geeky sister. But then again most porn stars look soooooo different without their makeup. They cake that stuff on!

I had quite a few, mostly athletes, when I worked for McDonald's Corp. They had an annual celeb golf tournament hosted by MJ to benefit the Children's Charities, and had employees work as volunteers. That was a while back, but here are some I remember.

Michael Jordan - seemed OK but always ridiculously mobbed
Charles Barkley - jerk and obnoxious
David Robinson - great guy, and sooooooo tall.
Dr J. - great guy and very gracious
John Denver - very nice guy
Evander Holyfield - nice but not the sharpest tack. Amazing though since he and I were about the same size, and he had really skinny legs. One always envisions the heavyweight boxing champ as being superhuman size. He was rock solid though. His golf skills, even for a hack, left a lot to be desired.

The most interesting was Ed Marinaro. I drove him and his companion (who could have easily been his daughter but clearly wasn't!) from the the hotel to the course. I grew up in Minnesota and asked him about his days with the Vikings and football. He was a running back there for a few years. That really engaged him. At the time he was big in Hill Street Blues and said most everyone just thought he was an actor. That was fun.

Andrew Bogut at a car show in Delafield, WI. He's quite the car enthusiast and owns several nice cars.

Lastly, Tyra Banks in a mall. She was just wrapping up a Victoria Secret appearance. Very attractive, and a little more substantial in the lower body than I would have expected given the featherweights usually in that business.

PM me when you are headed out - may have to make a point to link up and meet for a drink. Very early October I'm planning a brief trip out of country to check up on my staff on one of my Federal contracts that's overseas, but - I'm flexible. Let me know the dates you're headed out and I'll make a point to schedule around that.

Joe DiMaggio comes in every six months for his dental cleaning. Odd how he never mentioned anything about baseball :confused::confused:

1. Pulled up next to Paris Hilton in a metallic baby blue Bentley in Beverly Hills after midnight. She was dressed in some 1920s flapper outfit. When the light turned green, she took off. She was clearly drunk/intoxicated to all hell and swerving all over the place.

Funny, because when I first saw her, I thought she was a 90 year old woman.

2. Allen Thicke (growing pains). Met him in the VIP elevator at a Robin Thicke concert @ Staples Center. That's when I put it together: Allen Thicke is Robin Thicke's father. lol.

I take care of a lot of celebrities (sports, entertainment, government) who live or come to Vegas for Plastic surgery. Can't name anyone but there is a common trend. Stripped of their titles, status and make-up, they are just like any other patient about to hand over control of their life. The sports guys have the most anxiety and the entertainment crowd seem to focus in the wrong things (must be me though). I try not to appear star-struck, which seems to work well.

Most of the celebs I've seen up close were from my days living in Chicago.

Once sat next to Sarah Jessica Parker in Mity Nice Grill at the Water Tower Place Mall. When she left the waitress mentioned to me that she didn't leave a tip!

Bumped into Oprah a few times at Treasure Island supermarket.

Shook hands with Norm from Cheers on Michigan Ave.

Emilio Estavez and Paula Abdul used to jog at the track in front of my apartment when they were in town filming Mighty Ducks 2.

Met and shook hands with Michael Jordan when he opened his golf pro shop.

Literally got bumped into by Dennis Rodman when he pulled up to the Borders on Michigan Ave in his Harley, wearing a pink boa for a signing session when his book came out.

Best celeb run-in though...

Really? The Joe DiMaggio that I know of no longer moves, eats, breathes, or talks for at least 10 years now. I would be VERY surprised if he is still coming in to see you every 6 months, let alone talking baseballs.

I met Syd Mead and ended up working on his Macintosh computers. He was having some kind of issue (forgot what it was). Real nice guy and he gave me me a bunch of posters and prints to say thanks.

Also met Sinbad a number of times for Mac-related things.

Know Guy Kawasaki. Former NSX owner and he wrote the foreword to one of my books.

Shook hands (his were huge) with boxer Jack Dempsey. I was about 6 years old.

When I used to Mcee at the clubs in Cancun I got to meet mostly performers on a normal basis.

The list includes: 50 cent and his crew, Fat joe and the terror squad(awesome guy by the way), the classics like snoop, P.diddy and even dre when he was just releasing his last album.
The game, lil acrappy, little john are some of the other performers I got to chat before intruducing them to the crowd.
The one I regret not metting is Tiesto, I had to travel to Toronto for the dates he was playing in Cancun.

Now here in toronto, The wifey is a tv reporter so I get to still meet actors and performers here in Toronto too

But there is nothing like metting this famous people IN cancun, and they have had some Tequila, Is the best!!

I met Mr.T twice when I was 9. this would be at the height of his fame with A-team, the cereal, the cartoon, and as it happened he was promoting TR-3, an automotive cleaning product. My stepmother at the time was an executive assistant to the CEO of Blue Coral (the company that made TR-3) so I met Mr.T one at the corporate office, and a second time when we picked him up at the Cleveland airport. I didn't realize it at the time (I was only 9) but i also met another celebrity of sorts at that time- Don "Magic" Juan- the Pimp. He was apparently managing some of T's business affairs at the time. The only thing i remember was he wore a green suit, and had as much gold on as T. I asked him what it was for and he said (to a 9 yr old) "Green fo tha Money, and Gold fo tha Honeys". Years later i saw him again on an Mtv interview and put one and one together. My Stepmother also once brought home Mr.T's tandem axle custom van (painted like the A-team van with gold daytons)

In college my fraternity worked security for a Busta Rhymes campus show, so I met him briefly.

I met the Gallagher brothers of Oasis in Hoboken NJ. they seemed pretty cool. I have a digital picture of that somewhere.

I met Jerome Bettis of the Pittsburgh Steelers, along with Kordell Stewart at 3 rivers Stadium, and then about a week later I met Jerome Bettis again at a local bar where he was signing autographs. He remembered my name which i thought was awesome. That made me a Bettis fan for life. I had tears in my eyes when he retired after the Superbowl.

I met Christina Aguilara in Dallas, there is a story that goes with that but I don't want to type out a novel right now.

I met Mathew McConnaughy in Dallas as well, he put a round of drinks for our table on his tab. That guy was really nice. We were waiting forever on our server who was also waiting his table, I think he realized that they were paying less attention to us in order to cater to his group, so he bought us a round. I spoke to him briefly at the bar afterward to thank him, and he got my drink there too.

I met Shane Carwin when Easton opened the new South Denver Gym- nice guy. I also met Brendan Shaub that day, and then again at the Denver school. He was attending the Sunday training session, as I was leaving Randori. He is WAY out of my class, but several of the more advanced guys that I train with have rolled with him.

i met a few NASCAR guys over the years when my Dad's company was sponsoring stock cars. I met Dale Jerrett, and Jeff Burton at different times. they were both really nice guys.

I met David Hobbs @ NSXPO 2001.

For some reason i think there are more- probably athletes, but they aren't coming to mind at the moment.

This Joe only shares the same name. He's actually a retired railroad worker, but we like to joke about his celebrity name.

Met Miss New Jersey - Ashleigh Udalovas

Those Port-O-Pottys in the background really class up that photo. If they were smart, they would have contacted Ken for some Bumper Dumpers.

Back in the 80's, I used to ride the 71 height muni bus with the band called Metallica. Back then they were just starting out, and we use to hangout and party hard in the Height Ash district in S.F. I never thought they would become big time stars. I wasn't into their music, but the smoke was a good high.

Countless rock musicians.

Howard Stern once in Dallas. I was at Dallas City Limits back in ... eesh.... maybe 1996 or 97? I tried to chat him up as we had a mutual friend who was a regular on his show and toured with him on his campaign for governor, but he denied it was him and said he has people that make that mistake all the time. Come one, who can mistake that voice (this was also before the whole world knew what he looked like). Later that night after he was gone, the DJ announced that he had been in earlier.

I bump into one or two a month. Robr and I were out on a dinner cruise and this guy was on the boat. He had a superbowl ring on. I have no clue who he is.

So naturally you just started taking pictures of him?:biggrin::tongue: Do you secretly work for TMZ?

Hahaha Steve, I thought about posting that pic to this thread. Yeah I took a pic and emailed a friend hoping to get an answer as to who he was before we got off the boat, but it's now been a few weeks and we still have no idea who the guy was!! :)

BIG bling on his other hand too.
