I thought I would start a new thread. Share your story with a celeb encounter here. Let's here the good the bad and the ugly. I have a few and will mix mine in.

a cousin of mine was at some club, she walks in to the girls bathroom and guess who and what she saw... lindsay lohan snorting coke on the floor.

Several years ago I played golf with Geddy Lee in Phoenix. When I introduced myself as Randy Johnson he commented that I was the second Randy Johnson he had played golf with that week-- the first being The Big Unit. We both managed to make 80 ft. putts from near identical spots on the green and I managed a high-five from it. It was a real treat for me being a long time Rush fan. I think it was memorable for him too as apparently it was the first time he had broken 100.

And I bumped into Tom Jones once-- literally. It's marginally funny once you realize that Tom Jones is only about 5'6" and I'm about 6'7". I was looking at my wife saying "I heard Tom Jones is playing here this weekend" at which point I turned around and bumped into him.

Copied from a thread in this section posted by me:

When I met Racquel Welch it was at the absolute height of her fame in the early 70's. She and I were perched at the same exclusive seside resort in Cabo. This was LONG before Cabo was on the tourist map. She was with a man who may have had the largest nose I have ever seen. I think he was a movie producer, but I am not sure. I have seldom heard someone order around servers more rudely then her. The sense of entitlement in her voice was loud and clear. She was in a white bikini and was darly tanned and was beyond striking and I could not take my eyes off her as much as I tried.
When she ordered a drink I stopped the server and told him to bring me the bill. Later she came over to thank me and that was my BRIEF encounter.

Miss Bisset is sweet and seemed unaffected by her fame. However, this was
MANY years after the height of her fame. She has aged well and was a delight.

All D Listers:

I met Ice T ( the rapper ) in a parking lot, in FT Lauderdale. He talked to me while we were walking to our cars, nice guy, not so much a gangsta.

Vanilla Ice, whoa!

Met one of the main actors on Law and Order, cant remember his name, but hes been in a couple movies too. Tall guy.

Also met some NASCAR guys, are they famous? Tony Stewart, Dale JR, Denny Hamlin. I am not into NASCAR, but sometimes run into these guys because I live in NC.

Michael Jordan, because he hangs out at the Ritz Carlton, and I go to the bar there. Nice guy.

A few more, but I cant remember any names, just not that into celebs.

Hung around with Ricky Rudd for awhile, just as he was beginning his NASCAR career - we raced enduro karts for awhile. Very nice guy - but interesting that a guy going 200 mph was ultra conservative when it came to investments! (I'm in the investment business).

Met Joe Gibbs at the Richmond NASCAR race last year - incredibly nice guy, and a great speaker. I can see why he is a great motivator.

My partner handled Wilt Chamberlins money - Wilt was a helluva nice guy - when he'd come visit Virginia Beach the women flocked to him like bees to honey. The legendary stories about him are very accurate . We miss him dearly.

My favorite encounter was a chance encounter while on a ski trip in Stowe Vermont - while in the hotel hot tub none other than Karen Allen (of Raiders of the Lost Ark fame), and her sister (as attractive as Karen) were in for a soak. We chatted for 30 minutes or so, until I was so wrinkled I looked like I was 100 years old - she was super friendly and nice. I fell in love with her that evening  Jay

I had the pleasure of meeting Frank Zappa once in the early 1980s. A friend and I were bike riding on Mulholland Drive, and Zappa was at the side of the road having his picture taken for an ad.

At a break in the action, I said "thank you--we love you" and Mr. Zappa came over to talk to us. He was quite gracious and friendly.

This was at around the height of the popularity of Valley Girl (his only top 40 single in the USA). He'd asked us where we had been riding; I made a reference to the way Encino is spoken of in the song's lyrics.

Bill Russell opened the driver door of a car he had parked when I was riding by on my bicycle in San Francisco in 1990, causing me to crash. I didn't know who he was (I have no interest in basketball). He was arrogant (details on request).

I set up Rose Bird's computer -- after she was ousted as Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court (but before she died).

I've also worked on famed film composer James Horner's computer (Braveheart, Titanic, + a zillion more). I recall him having a "thing" for remote controled toys.

The work that I'm currently doing (more IT stuff) involves contact with some people who might be considered celebrities (at least, you'd know their names if I told you), but confidentiality prohibits naming them at this time.

While I was flirting with a beautiful blonde in a garage on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, I heard someone with a Canadian accent asking if I had jumper cables. I then went over to my rental, got cables out of the trunk and jump started a Maserati.

The blonde was Janet Jones. The guy was Wayne Gretzky.

He then autographed my Christofle silverware brochure because it was the only thing I had for him to sign.

Oddly, I've had quite a few celeb run-ins for just an average guy with no connections into any high profile industry:

Met Robbin Williams at the Bellagio. He was just walking around all by himself just in the public. He sat at my blackjack table and just played with $20 chips. It was almost like he was just trying to blend in as an average tourist.

Michael Vick went to my school (Va Tech) the same time I was there. Saw him at many downtown parties/clubs/bars. (there aren't many to pick from at the time I was there!)

JK Simmons (the guy from OZ and Spiderman) was on my plane from Vegas to DC. He was with his family and kids flying coach. He sat across from me and got to talk to him. Really nice guy.

Roger Staubach and Drew Pearson spoke at a company function and hung out at the party afterwards. They both signed a football for me that's sitting in my office (and I'm a HUGE Redskins fan!)

Ran into Slash and Flava Flav at the airport (at different occasions) and got pictures with them. They both dressed exactly like you'd expect them to be dressed like. Slash all black, long hair, fingerless gloves, top hat etc. Flava Flav, crazy big fur coat, giant clock, wild sunglasses etc.

Ran into Mohammad Ali at Atlantis. He had like a 50 person entourage with him. All I could say, "Hey Champ!" which I think got a nod.

Forrest Griffin worked out about 1 foot away from me at my gym. This was after he got beat by Anderson Silva and I said, "you're still awesome" and he just smiled and said "thanks".

George St. Pierre at the table next to me and caught me trying to snap a picture of him. He said to just come over and take a picture which I embarrassingly did.

I ate at Emril Legasse's restaurant in a big group and he came to our table to say hi and thank us. He then made a special appetizer for our table which I recall was really, really salty.

Britney Spears was at a party at the Palms I was also at for one New Year's celebration, as was 50 cent at another. Who then left in about a 10 car entourage consisting of about 7 H2’s and 3 stretch H2’s

I’ve met a ton of porn stars through my friend who used to be in the porn industry. Jesse Jane, Brittney Skye, Veronica Jett, others. I saw Jenna, but never got to talk to her. I did a silly interview with Asia Carrera back when the internet was in its infant stage. She was just getting into it too and she agreed to do an interview for my website. That was fun. Did you know she’s smart? I mean really smart? I mean member of MENSA smart?

Rutgers Grad too:wink:

Sat next to Kevin Spacey on a plane. He's cool as hell, but is shorter in person.

Andrea Agassi was way cool back in the day. Talked with him at the ATP tournament here in cincy years back...i was really young.

Bernie Ebbers used to come over to the house to play cards when I was in high school. Now look where he's at.

Hrm - saw Steve Jobs a few months back at the Stanford Shopping Center in California. He was eating at the table next to us....I didn't say anything to him, he was with a young boy, and he looked like hell to say the least so I didn't bug him. Wouldn't have had much to say anyway...i'm not the biggest Apple fan.

Ben Roethlisberger used to live two houses away from me in College. He was cool and had rather large keg parties.

Went to an after party at Bronson Arroyo's house down here in cincy after bar hopping in Mt. Adams one night. He's a helluva good singer and guitar player. He's hilarious....he'd take 3-4 girls to his bedroom at a time....emerge....play some more songs...and then take 3 more back there.

At a bar in Northern Kentucky, Bill Bellamy was making fun of my NSX that was parked in front of the place. I ended up talking with him and we poured shots for patrons behind the bar. That was probably the coolest celebrity encounted I've had....even though he favored the Aston Martin over the NSX and wouldn't let me forget it. I'll see if i can dig up the pics someplace.

who's the blonde in the first pic?

Met Vince Vaughn at a club after the NCAA tournament. I noticed him walk in and tried telling my friends who were already in a conversation with each other so they paid no attn until I walked over to Vince. Who I hadn't noticed was already looking our direction, because he was trying to motion to my wife to come talk to him (I'm assuming he didn't know)....until he saw me with her. I felt pretty outgunned, lol.

I've met...
Cardinal's Stan Musial - my G'ma use to baby sit for the family
Boxer Tommy "Gun" Morrison
Figure skater - Tonya Harding (don't ask, lol)
NFL Rams Danny Amendola, Bradley Fletcher, Donnie Avery, and a few others while playing flag football at Ram's park training facility. Also during their draft party.

MMA Legend Hoyce Gracie at my buddy's first pro fight. We hung out in the dressing room chatting about hunting Arkansas razorbacks. Very nice, personable guy.

Respectable...

I met Smokey Robinson accidentally...

Christmas Party 2007 with my employer and we were at the Mandarin Oriental in DC the same weekend they were doing the Kennedy Center Honors. I went upstairs to the main bar and got a drink. I looked to my right and there is Smokey, sitting in the stool right next to me. Brief introduction, some small talk for about a minute or so, and then I went back downstairs. Very humble man, extremely friendly.

I'm excluding politicians from my list, as I see so many on a daily basis in my industry.

Michael Vick went to my school (Va Tech) the same time I was there. Saw him at many downtown parties/clubs/bars. (there aren't many to pick from at the time I was there!)

No shit - didn't know you were at Tech then. My best friend graduated from Tech and just about everyone I'm close went there. I spent a lot of time visiting while I was military, between 1998-2002.
