Had a cop tail me all the way to my house for no reason.

Happened to me before too in my old '92. Cop did a u-turn, followed me for about a mile and proceeded to follow me down the driveway of my apartment complex until I had parked the car. When I got out of the car, he took one look at me, and backed up, and drove off. I was living in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood at the time, and I'm guessing if I was Hispanic, he probably wouldn't have simply backed out the driveway and drove off.

I don't have any personal experience with the Aurora police. Cops in a very-high-crime area like Aurora should be trying to stop real crime, not harrassing you - as they apparently were in your first post.

Real criminals can't afford to pay fines and don't give a shit if you put them in jail for non-payment.

I think it's funny how people around here are afraid to pass cops. The cop will sit there in the right lane doing the speed limit...and you can watch people make the rotation from fast lane to slow lane as they get close enough to notice that it's a cop (some people are obvioulsy much less than observant). I usually pass the cop assuming I can do so while exceeding the speedlimit by about 4MPH or less (actual speed, not indicated speed).

Funny situation I observed the other day. A guy in a Cayman S is trying to weave through traffic in a congested area. It is two lanes that come to a stop light and change to one lane that lasts for at least 10 miles. After a lot of fast acceleration and hard braking he makes it to the front spot where there is a red light and the two lanes go to one. He is doing some revs waiting for the light to change and a cop pulls up beside him in a fully marked Dodge charger. The light turns and the cop floors it getting the front spot and leaving the Cayman at the light.

I personally hate to follow people. You are left at the mercy of when they are going to brake, turn as if there car was made from eggshell and might break if they hit a bump too fast, or how fast they want to go. I like to be out front setting the pace and able to look around and not have to look directly forward for the whole trip. Fact is I almost NEVER have anyone tailgating me. Hardly anyone wants to drive at the speeds I do!

It's funny that a lot of you guys have posted that you were "only going 5 mph over the limit" or "10 mph over" or making an illegal turn, and you get pissed when a police officer, whose job it is to enforce traffic laws, dares to give you a second glance.

Why do you care if a cop follows you around? Maybe he loves your car but knows that on his public servant payscale he'll never be able to afford one. Maybe he had a report of street racing and is just making sure you weren't a part of it. Maybe you look like a dirtbag and he's doing a little profiling. In any case, if you aren't doing anything illegal, why do you care? Just go about your day and get over it. Don't forget to load some Ice-T on your Ipod.

I got pulled over 2 times in 3 days, total of 3 times in 2 weeks. Never got a ticket for any of it. Just intimidation. I got the "Looks Fast" excuse for pulling me over.

"It looked like you took off from that light fast. You know I can impound your car for 30 days for that." Not my fault I had semi trucks on both sides of me at the light.

Then "It looked like you were going awefully fast there. In a hurry? I'd probably give you a ticket, so you're lucky I'm looking for a missing person." No way in hell, my buddy even saw me driving by.

Then a jerk off in a hummer almost rearended me in a parking lot then proceeded to creep on up on my ass. It was at the the exit of the parking lot next to a popular bar patio area. So everyone was pointing and laughing at goober in the hummer. I took off pretty fast to put some distance on the guy. He proceeds to follow me through town and tailgate me as I crept down the road at just under the speed limit. Get to a red light, he pulls behind, light turns green I punch it, do a quick lane change and stomp the brake, he stops in his tracks ahead of me. So I just pull behind him. I keep my distance but he stops and goes, all at about 5 mph. I just didn't want some guy in a H2 on dubs following me. Who knows what type of person or persons is in there. Eventually after a mile, the cops catch on and pull us both over. New young guy is cool asks if I had something to drink, I tell him the truth. 1 beer, two hours ago. The other cop, old bastard with a bad rep in town, goes to the hummer, speaks to him briefly and lets him go.... I'm thinking, WTF? Then the old cop proceeds to give me FSTs. If you've never done them before, I'll tell you now, it's TOUGH even when sober and shakey and nervous because a fleet of cops just pulled you over. I pass them, completely sober, but still, VERY tough. Old cop proceeds to tell me, "That was the owner of that complex. Said he was concerned for his patrons safety and you might be drunk. Drive like a jackass in my town and I WILL impound your car. If I pull you over for it "again", I WILL impound your car."

Here's the thing, I did NOTHING wrong, other than peeling away just once initially to get away from the nutso. I saw the guy in the bar but didn't know who he was or what he drove. Just knew he was drinking like a fish for hours. He got embarrassed he nearly plowed me over infront of his own bar, in front of his own customers and employees who all pointed and laughed at him. Then I proceeded to make him eat my rubber when I pulled out. Pissed him off most likely. The cop should have been checking all his info and making HIM do FSTs. Cop is a known asshole to young guys in general. I wonder if Rich white guy in expensive hummer against young asian guy in sports car has anything to do with it. Guy never even asked me what the situation was or my side. Just FST'ed my ass, then chewed me out for somethign I didn't do. Once again, NO ticket.

Sorry for the long story.. Just pisses me off!

Personally, I can't believe the attitudes toward cops most of you seem to have!

I guess they're all a bunch of a$$holes... until you need one.

In my town, they don't help you even IF you need it. I hate the police in my town. They just get bored and intimidate people. I know plenty of instances where nothing has been done to people when they commit certain crimes because it's a small town and they just choose not to do a damned thing about it because the guy was a star football player 15 years ago.

We have turned in drug dealers on my street, and the police never even checked to see if it was a possibility. They sure as hell tried to arrest me for running a stopsign though (no exaggeration.)

The police in my town are complete pieces of shit and I hope they like a horrible life. They're stuck in my hometown their whole lives... so I guess in the long-run I win.

Wheelman...?:frown:
Anything to say...?:frown:

Sorry to hear you gentlemen feel this way and for your bad experiences, but sometimes remember that an officer is no more human then you are. More often then not, they are just doing their job. I have occasionally followed an exotic or two just out of pure curiousity or high interest.

On the other hand sometimes exotic cars are owned by well, lets face not the average law abiding "joe." ...drug lords, organized crime, prostitution ring leaders, and many other criminals.

Take it easy fellas:frown:

I don't dislike the police in general, but following me approximately 1.5 miles to the front of my residence while on my tail the whole time wasn't exactly the work of policing the neighborhood to make me feel safe.

My friend who was in the car has asked out of the blue, "why are they following you?" Is this car illegal? I said, "no." Then why are they following you? I don't know is what I answered.

Now let me get this right.
The police car is behind you. You're not breaking any laws and you don't get stopped.
You feel intimidated and annoyed.
Awww, poor baby.

Not intimidated, but annoyed. I approached the cop as soon as I parked in my house. They just drove away.

Now tell me......a cop u-turns in a two way street just as they have passed my car while I was going the speed limit from my way back from the supermarket. They tail me approximately 1.5 miles from where Albertson's is away from my house, and you tell me, poor baby.....

Reasons why they did it?

I don't know as I don't like to make generalizations. But you tell me what are the possibilities. Not a lot of good ones over bad ones.

It has passed and I am over it.

The officer realized you were driving an NSX and were therefore special so he took the time to escort you home and make sure you weren't carjacked. You should try to find out who he or she was and personally thank them.

u sure it was not your EX stalking u?

You never fail to amuse with your creative remarks. You've again made me shake my head and laugh at the same time. Thanks.

WOW! That sure sounds like profiling to me.

The only reasonable explanation for that is to see if the vehicle is stolen. I'm not defending them i'm just thinking on both sides.

I get followed home, to my friends house, and sometimes around town 2-3 times a week (literally). I actually wave to them when i see them, then I do a 240km/h pass by the police station:biggrin:

Sometimes cops are just gangsters w/ badges. You know the saying, the best way to hide from the badge is behind it.

--off topic---
One day was at the mall eating at the food court ,4 sheriffs ate where i ate, I was one table away from them. Some mexican bald headed cholos walked pass our tables, and the sheriffs looked at them in an unacceptable manner, like they were gangsters sizing up the opposition. I didnt think much of it until I heard one of them say, "want me to shoot him" then followed with laughter from the other sheriffs.

Not all law inforcement officers is like this, but they're out there, trust me.

I think Ken (ChopsJazz) was agreeing with what seemed to be your point (you both disprove that many people seem to have attitudes toward cops which vary based on if one is in need of law enforcement or in violation of the law).

Wiz-Kid, I was indeed agreeing with your sentiment and adding my own sarcastic observation. Yours seemed to be one of the very few objective posts in this (disturbing) thread.

He probably just wanted some Thai Food ;). Nah but serious sorry you got sweated....its not cool when cops do that. I could understand if you were speeding or something but they shouldn't be doing stuff like that to people not doing anything wrong.

Ask any cop they will tell you there are only cops and criminals.
