I bought my first NSX and I love it!

Hello prime members I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I've learned a lot from this forum over the years (thank you) and in general find the discussions here to be much more "adult" than the S2000 forum I sometimes frequent. I own an S2000 (since new) thats in full restoration mode. I picked up my NSX Friday from another Prime member and am absolutely in love. This car is so different than anything else I've driven. My S2000 feels like a super bike and the NSX feels like a Fighter Jet or a bullet train. It's so direct. In this very short time as an owner i've already met some incredible members and people in general. People are taking pictures next to my car, and ask if i'm selling it. I've decided to put a not for sale sign on the car ha ha.

The car has over a 200,000 miles and the compression test runs 195 plus or minus 3. On a side note, I know a lot of people here are concerned with mileage. It is actually not a very good indicator of how good a car is. As a former master tech at Honda/Mercedes we would often see high mileage (WELL MAINTAINED) cars having a much better service history than low mileage garage queens. At mercedes there was a lot of that. Many cars with 15,000 miles but older than 10 years old would have so many problems from failed seals to electrical corrosion.

The only reason i'm bringing this up is if you own this car do yourself a favor and drive it! Anyways, I digress. The car is getting OEM NA2 side skirts and rear valence, a Pro Car NSX R hood Type R interior and thats about it.....except for the Saclam exhaust and exhaust manifold I ordered, Ohlins...and Te37's in Formula Silver. I swear thats it.
Best car ever!

Kindest Regards

M

Congratulations...miles on modern cars are less of an issue than in the past. I had a modified Nissan Twin Turbo that had 409,000 miles when I finally sold her.

welcome...interested in your self proclaimed exhaust:eek:

Congrats and welcome to yet another S2000 to NSX graduate. :)

Congrats and welcome! That's an impressive parts list you've got coming! Are you getting the spec A or B exhaust? Please keep us posted with pics and a sound clip of the exhaust when you get it installed!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. My friend matt at ICB motorsports has a Saclam A or B for me on a container shipping in mid March. I'm also going to be running
the Saclam exhaust manifold. Their stuff is so well thought out. It even includes an upper O2 extender so it will fit correctly on their manifold with factory mounts.

I have heard the Saclam A and while it does sound incredible I don't want to attract too much attention. Although the exhaust B is nice and quiet with the same tone it just doesn't look as incredible as the A. Dilemma. (first world problems I know)

For those of you who don't know. Saclam produces exhausts for very select cars and now are shipping world wide after a strict keep it in Japan policy. The lead designer
worked for Mugen during the pre M-Tec days, and designed most of the Mugen NSX parts as well as the beloved S2000 parts. The exhaust tip probably looks familiar to some.

The third pic is my car getting polished and then it will go in for a complete Ceramic Coat. Also an interesting fact, the detailer after measuring my paint thickness could not believe how thick it was...and even. I guess they check because they don't want to be liable for previous paint work. She said she thought it had been resprayed because the coat is like two normal coats on a regular car.

I'm having some of the interior redone by Euroboutique. While I do want to keep everything OEM, there are some places the NSX could use updating. I'm not doing anything thats not reversible and I've already started a nice OEM shelf in the garage. I have three sets of wheels. OEM, SSR 7 spokes, and Advan RS II's. The Advans are great but I am not fond of black on black (because my s2000 was that way for too long). I ordered a set of special NSX sizing Formula Silver Volk Racing CE28N's.

These are due in 5-6 months. After my S2000, I have learned to become very patient. I have waited 19 months on some parts. Maybe i'm getting old but I enjoy doing upgrades in a more measured manner now.

After the car is coated, and the NA2 side skirts and rear are painted and coated i'll assemble the car and add to the OEM shelf. I picked up a new drivers window regulator (its starting to go) and seal. A timing belt kit and all the coolant hoses. I'm sure I could get away with 15,000 more miles but I like to know where i'm starting even though I know the history of this car.

I did however get this is today from Evasive.

And this:

As for the Mats I'd prefer all black but I got these for around a 100 dollars and i've been seeing OEM mats go for as much as 600!
So I thought getting two sets may not be a bad idea. I think they still have one set let if anyone wants the info.

Anyways, thanks again for the welcomes. I guess I should start a "build" thread although my build will be centered around OEM parts and a few choice upgrades.
Speaking of which I have an appointment at Sakebomb garage for a set of Ohlins DFV long stroke coilovers. I loved Ohlins on my race bikes and what they (sakebommb) are doing is pretty incredible. The damper technology is so good today especially Ohlins that spring rates almost don't matter. The valving is so good.

I'll write a review when I install them along with alignment specs.

Kindest Regards

Mark

Hi Guys,

Thanks so much for the welcome. I wrote a big reply but I guess it's going to take a while for the admins to approve of it. Hello?
I bought a membership to help this great community. Hopefully they'll get my response up soon.

oh last shot is the Nisan Figaro I bought for my wife. Should be here in a week or so. They are very rare here but very inexpensive, and this car you definitely need to put a "not for sale" sign on ha ha.

Oooh, that's a very nice!!! (insert bad french accent)

Side note: Love the furniture choices!!

If you need your Ohlins rebuilt at some point PM me I am local to the only Ohlins facility in the US.

Looking forward to more photos!

Welcome to the forum!

I'm very interested to hear about the Ohlins DFV development!

Is that Performance Shock Inc? If so, I've been very impressed with them.

Thanks! My kids are at an age where white leather is doable. The black Eames Lounger was a tough find but it's super comfortable.

I promise to do a video of the exhaust sound. I'm really torn. I'm past the loud exhaust stage in my life so I hope it's not too loud!

My car will be the first production model. Sakebommb does custom valving and spring rates (using Swift springs) depending on your intended use. I do not plan on tracking this
car but suspension technology is incredible these days and Ohlins are some of the best. I'll write up a full review when I install them in a "build" thread i'm planning on starting.

Welcome to the site! I'm also interested to hear and see this exhaust as your set up is like a unicorn. Lucky to have a chance since we're both in the Bay Area. Enjoy the ride.
