Great pictures! Italy is a beautiful country. I went in June and got to go to Rome. I've never seen so much history in one place.

I enjoyed Italy this past summer as well. Many great motorcycle (ducati, moto guzzi)/car (lambo, ferrari) factories and museums to visit in addition to the great scenery. Roads from Monaco to central italy are great if you get a chance to grab some wheels next time.

Agreed! I really like how they are proud of their history which is apparent in all their buildings. I'm impressed to the amount of restorations and results of these restorations.

I'm returning there again... but it would be winter time  but be there longer so I hope to see more of Italy. Would be great if I can get the chance to drive to Monaco, but doubt it with timeframe I usually have. I did managed to rent a California, unfortunately driving in Milan :frown:

Beautiful photos! Thanks for sharing. Italy is on my bucket list of places to see.

Worth going. July or September I was told by the locals. Best time to travel.

You must and best to travel by trains while you're there...

NOOOoo!....NOT in July, August or even early part of September. It's very hot and humid during those months for you to enjoy....My last trip to Rome, Florence and Venice was during that time of year

Late May/early June is the best IMO. The risk of going in late June through early August is it can be HOT and I love walking around outside. I didn't go all the way to Italy to be in Texas weather.

Really? haha... I guess. Mind you, Milan is further north but you're right I guess it was abit humid during September but from where I'm from that's consider mild!

Train is the way to travel in Italy. Visit the lakes. I think it's a nice quiet getaway. None of city chaos.

Sharing some more pictures. Back again, Italy in the winter.

I thought I post the Cathedral(Duomo) in Milan. Didn't post it fully before

My Milan! If anyone needs advice to plan a trip to Italy, ask me!

So are you from Italy? We are going to Europe for 2 weeks in June and part of our trip is a 7 day cruise with 3 of the stops in Italy. We have already decide on our off short excursions but they are not booked yet so would love your feedback before we book them. First stop is in Naples and we have chosen an excursion that will bring us to Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri. Second stop is Rome and we have chosen the Vatican and a quick stop at the coliseum. We were there last year and already visited the inside of the coliseum but missed the Vatican. 3rd stop is Livorno and we chose an excursion to The Cinque Terre. Like I said we already chose these but they are not booked yet. If your familiar we these areas I would love to get your feedback and don't miss anything.

We are also starting planning efforts for a trip to Italy. Just looked at something that is 10 days, staying in Rome, Florence, and Venice.

I need to hit the Ferrari and Lambo sites....not sure what is available from a factory or museum perspective. recommendations welcome!

Looks like we are doing a tour package. 10 days to 14 days. While in Florence, it appears that Modena/Maranello is about 90 minutes away, and tour packages are available. Would like to hit the Ferrari Gallery and maybe the Lambo factory and museum, which I hear is very worthwhile.

Hi! It is good to see people excited about traveling. I traveled through Italy a couple times (by vehicle) last summer. I am far from an expert but I went out of my way to see several automotive related sites. The ferrari museum is fairly easy to get to on the outskirts of Maranello and is adjacent to the factory. I had a motorbike but I think there is sufficient parking for cars as well.

The Ducati factory is in Bologna, Italy. Bologna is usually rated as one of the top cities in Italy for food and it has more than enough other things to justify a day trip. I spent a few days there. I did not have time to visit the Lamborghini museum but I believe it is close to the Ferrari one. Moto Guzzi's factory is near this region as well and is supposedly well worth the visit. Be sure to do a bit of research on any place you want to visit. For example, the Ducati factory can only be visted through guided tours - if you simply show up there is a high likelihood it will be in vain.

There is also a Bugatti museum and a couple others worth visiting in the central/tuscany area of Italy. Although the country is quite large for Europe, I could get from Monaco to Slovenia (entire east to west trip) in 6 hours by motorbike/car.

Looks like we're headed there the last two weeks of August. We have some time in Florence, which will be directed to a trip to Modena/ Marinello.

Leaving on Saturday... hope to provide pics of things automotive relevant!

honda of Italy.... a different civic...

lots of strange small cars here, especially stuff from the 90s and earlier this decade. Fiat/Alfa/Lancia must have 50% market share. The remainder goes to Ford, Citroen, Renault, Audi, Mercedes, and bmw. But there's a lot of variation... ton of Smart cars especially in Rome... bmw 1 series is popular, as are very small Audi and MB models that are not here in the US.

the only "classic" I noticed is below... and still seen everywhere across Italy.

The rest of the auto pics....

Another "classic" of Italy:

This is a Pininfarina design but I have no idea who makes it:

Saw this old school beauty pass our bus:

And here's new school! Not sure, but probably a Fiat... very cool:

<a href="http://s2.photobucket.com/user/pjr300/media/Auto%202013/20130820_181925_zps0c686fe1.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/pjr300/Auto%202013/20130820_181925_zps0c686fe1.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20130820_181925_zps0c686fe1.jpg"/></a>

The ugliest car I saw:

And finally, the Alfa Romeo platform that us used in the Gueletta (2 door, 2 door, and a MTO coupe) and I think itis shar4ed to Fiat as well... very impressive little car. I think it's the base for the new Jeep Cherokee:

Alfa vs Fiat, platform sharing!
