J.D. Power: Styling biggest reason people reject Acura

I never like the "A" logo on any of the cars. Looks more like a star trek logo

Woah...that's the only thing I DO like on the current cars (perhaps because it looks like a Star Trek logo, though I never actually thought of that before)

The MDX and RDX are nice, and tell me the ZDX isnt HOT? Although, I might be biased.

Surprised? I am not.

The automotive press, and forum enthusiasts have been bitching about the big chrome buck tooth for years, but Honda/Acura hasn't listened. Hopefully this is the necessary wake up call.

The only Acura that I have liked of the recent model years is the RL. The rest all just look ugly and I hate the grill. What the heck is Acura thinking?

They are trying to become like Audi, BMW and MB. All cars are supposed to look similar but the options and price tags are different. This is why i liked the variety from 2005 lineup, they had somethng for everyone. Now they are narrowing down their market of potential customers.

*** THIS JUST IN*** J.D Power has just found out in a recent study that "crappy cars" is the biggest reason people are rejecting the Acura brand.

I was waiting for the new Acura TL with AWD to come out so I could trade my Civic in. After seeing it, I decided to keep my Civic a little longer while looking at other AWD option, like the Audi A4.

We all know this was and will be the the last good looking Acura....

They get some schmuck in the design department that doesn't have an original thought in his head and will continue to pump out ugly cars with the same big ass smiling grill. The NSX doesn't smile! Actually it looks more like "Oh *&$@^"

Audi has a big ass grille and at first I didn't like it, but over time it grew one and now I think it looks cool.

Acura on the other hand has a hideous grille and it has never grown on me. It just keeps getting worse. The interior design is also a let down.

I drove a tsx loaner the other day and it was ugly outside, ugly inside and the motor was pathetic. 200hp 4 cylinder isn't enough for that bloated car. Te previous tsx was much nicer.

I will admit I think the zdx looks pretty cool but it isn't very practical.

So if I were in the market for a new car Acura wouldn't be anywhere on my radar. Shame.

Your assessment of the TSX would change if you had driven the V6 version

I did have the ZDX as a loaner for a day, and frankly it was hideous when compared to my 09 MDX. The driving position/view was borderline claustrophobic. But then again, each sees something different.

As for the beak styling, the TSX has the best look in the line up followed by the 07-09 MDX. YMMV.

Other than the MDX, the only recent vehicle that looked decent was their A-Spec RL.

The current VW/Audi front-fascia (namely upper/lower grilles) are rally influenced, as such design/styling cues have been prevalent in the past/current Mitsu Lancer series, Nissan R35 GT-R, etc'. Even Honda has been influenced by such w/ their '11 Accord coupe refresh.

FWIW, the '11 RL has a revised (more tame/subliminal) front-grille...

I haven't kept up w/ anyother year-to-year changes/updates w/ the other current Acura models. Though, the MDX would be an offering that I'd give consideration to if I was in the market for a mid-sized premium/luxo' SUV w/ 3-row seating.

2x! My personal fav' would be '05-'08 RL front-fascia w/ the '09-'11 RL rear-fascia, that would be my ideal late-model premium/luxo' import sport-sedan (the RL'specific SH-AWD driving experience, overall build-quality, excellent fit-&-finish, great ergonomics & refined styling, lotsa tech., etc' ).

How the design got all the way to market amazes me.
Clearly MOST people think it's ugly.
Did Acura really think otherwise???

I would have like try the v6 version but they gave me the 4. I think they should have put the turboi from the rdx in it.

It still looks like a beak though... they really need to revise their current grill design.

that RL looks so plain,vanilla,maxima....hyundai is killing it in styling:rolleyes:
