lets face it the 1st generation nsx is a slow car

I have 5 years of ownership with my car. My car has JGTC exhaust, 4.23 rp, and rps clutch so yes I have done some mods. It used to have the ARC filter, but I swapped it back with the stock box. And depending on the track, the nsx is a very capable car I am aware of that. There's also the arguments that miata drivers says to each other. You car will smoke an nsx in a parking lot autocross. Every car shines in it's own elements. Im just saying, the NA1 nsx needs more oomph. And dont tell me 20 more hp ala NA2 is sufficient.

And too the arm chair spec racer... yes I am aware that the nsx top speed is 168. I have taken it that fast before on a private airstrip but it needed a lot of room. What I was referring to is the 80-120 acceleration speed. Its just not enough. Maybe it's time for FI...
 
yes nsx are are fast in the twisties... thats been said around the block many times. If the twisties were abundant and there were no straight light. but cmon... we all know the nsx is anemic. If it wasnt so anemic, then why would people choose the FI route?

I still had more power to go faster but had no room. I know if I had some room, after 140 it wouldnt be a problem walking away from the GTs. It's just that the accelerationg wasnt there.

Well... I dont think the consensus here is that the NSX is "anemic". Why did you buy a 20 year old car? The NSX NA1 was competitive when it was released. The NA2 was competitive when it was released.

As for the comment about the "F40" thats a ridiculous comment. Thats a racing car made for the street and was one of the most expensive cars on earth when it was released. An F40 is still hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Again, its an idiotic argument. So is the point now that in 1991 Honda should have produced a car for $60k that not only bested the Ferrari 348 and was as liveable as a Civic but ALSO bested the >>> F40 <<< (and I guess the Porsche 959)???

How moronic can this dicussion possibly get?
 
It's sho nuf getting rediculous when the guy starts talking F40. You know what I say, go and spend a couple hundred thou and maybe you'll be happy! Then you can quite bugging us with comments that just fire up the membership. We went from closed street drags with the Mustand and SRT to acceleration from 80 to 120, so are we now on a closed track. Where's the that? I mean who cares if the car won't pull like crazy from 80 to 120, wait, I mean like a honking V8 in a straight line. Are we still talking drag stuff. Our cars are far from anemic.

I think I'm getting a headache. This is getting just a bit off whatever track it started out on. Take those stupid V8 honkers to the track. You'll whip their stupid ass and then they'll have something to bug thier list serve about - like "how come our rumpety rumps don't have the suspension to beat an 18 year old car - then they can rev up over there.

I mean I guess what this member is trying to get everyone to agree on is that the N1s are slow from 80 to 120.....is that it. Ok they won't match a 425 hp torqu monster from 80 to 120 .,... does that make him happy.

Geez, what's our argument going to fall to next. Wish our cars were as luxurios as an Aston Martin.....whut is it now.....How bout that Enso, man it's shurely faster than our little NSX....I agree, next....

Now when you start talking Miata, then I'll get pissed....Miatas are nice weekend top down cars for budget minded folks and women. They are a nice option when compared to an MGB.....how bout that?

How bout a mini, now there's a car you can compare to the Miata on the Miata board.....so what is the point here????

ll...wants us to all say our cars are slow, hey, I know get him and Batman into a conversation - just those 2 - all by themselves can just slap the NSX silly! It might go on for days.......there would be no end to their pissing and moaning about the slow status of their cars that they won't SC or TC, I mean guys, just get off the pocket book or sell the NSX and we can all go back to driving our NSXs and having fun!

just say a the nsx is slow and you get all the fanboys coming out of the woodworks stating the same thing that everyone has been saying for years:

Why did I buy the nsx? it's because it's my childhood dream car which I can afford. I liked the look, I didnt care for performance as much.. .just the look. Then driving around on the twisties... it's fun. But when you want some oomph.. the nsx is not the car that will give it to yah unless you go FI.

Like I said before, FI is the way to go to bring the car to have a balance of both power, cornering, etc...

Have we worn this one out yet? We also can stop with the Moron comments. We're all just having fun here after all even though we are all, well most of us, passionate about our NSXs no matter what gen they are. So if llacap feels like we're jumping on him it's cause we really like our cars and maybe we're a bit sensitive when someone compares cars like V8 honkers to them for drag race BS. I mean you gotta understand how that kind of sounds a bit silly to most on this site. However, when you light the candle or "fuse" in this case - might oughta be prepared for an "explosion". Can I get an Amen here....
 
Not sure what the circumstances were when racing that SRT 8 Charger but I have a friend that owns one. Stock v. Stock NSX I can pull on him from 90 to...well whatever speed he wants to go. :smile: The SRT is a brick smashing through the air. So is the Mustang. The only stock vehicle (in contact with) that has pulled on me is a IS-F and after 130 I catch right back up. We are talking around 3 seconds before I'm right on his a$$. It doesn't matter what year a car is, light weight and decent power is always the basis for a good performing vehicle. The problem in the NSX is low end torque but the cars you speak of can't hang at very high speeds. If you like 3500 pound cars, not saying you do, well then toilet bowl racing is the way to go. I prefer the turns.:smile:

I find this hard to believe.

The mustang is no problem, but it's work.

SRT-8 has more HP and at freeways speeds the HP matters more than weight.

IS-F ........... riiiight

we really need to put these types of discussions on 'permanent leave'. or maybe until one reaches certain prime seniority/maturity he/she should be forbidden to comment/post on some issues as lack of insight only enflames others.

I must be nuts. Because I just drove a GT-R and am actually unsure if I like it any better than my NSX. Dude, go to a track and stop running straight lines and you will see what an NSX is capable of. Saying the NSX is slow in a drag race is like saying Roy Jones Jr. is bad at Tennis. Drag racing is for girls.
 
If the NSX had 300hp and 300tq with a flat power band it would make me happy enough since it would be in the mid to low 12's outta the box......

If the NSX had 300tq with a flat powerband and started to fall off to redline similar to what it does now...it would have like 380-400hp (if that is flywheel numbers). This would make it a low 12s and/or high 11s car. That would make everyone on the board happy not just you.

This is the stoker kit with either some redesigned heads or some way to incorporate throttle bodies a la BMW.

FWIW, the F40 was designed as an extreme street car and only after it was produced did the car (as the F40 LM) enter a race series and only one at that (IMSA). And there are only two of those that were in that series.

LOL... no you said "the NSX is a slow car". How is it slow when it is faster than 98% of all cars on a RACE track?
