That's what i was thinking. It sounds like the redline is either low or the driver is shifting way too early or he has it auto mode.
 
I think they forgot the guillotine shield in the grille. Oh wait, it's got Honda badges, not Acura. :biggrin:

Its actually still there but it's body colored in this rendition!
 
It kinda looks like the product of a 3-way between the LF-A, accord coupe and G37!:biggrin:
 
Well, now we have some more data.
We can see on the side shots it is using a Bridgestone Potenza tire with very aggressive sidewall blocks that have a funny reverse shape cut crossing them. Look closely at the RF tire.

If I'm not mistaken, its the Potenza RE070R RFT, the tire developed for the Nissan GT-R.

Makes sense. Both are MF cars. Maybe, just maybe, more evidence of it being a 4wd car?

maybe its the way the video played...but the cornering kind of looked sluggish.
 
There is one other thing I've noticed.

The concept art above is wrong on one item for sure.

There is a vent BEHIND the front wheel on the actual car, which can be seen on the photo I posted above, covered by the cloth masking.

Notice they actually cut a small square opening in this cloth to allow some vent function, which may be there for either brake or engine cooling, or both. Note you can even see that the vent is silver colored underneath, similar to this concept.

This vent it present on the ASC concept car, which the final car is said to follow closely in styling.

This vent also somewhat harkens back to our beloved NSX and the air intake on the back of the car and the door creases that bless the sides up to the vent. The new car just has it in reverse, in a very subtle fashion.

All I see is 350Z for 5x the price.

Given your great insight and outstanding power of observation you must find these two to be identical except that one costs a bit more than the other:wink:

Give the guy a break, I think he was just pointing out that the shape of the 350z and the concept drawings are not as elegant as a low slung wedge style exotic. The shape is too typical for many FR platforms and the bubbly look at not exactly awes-inspiring.

The red renderings look a lot better tho. And Vance, that S2000 comparo was EPIC PHAIL!

Yep, he just misses the "old days" when paying 5x more money, got you a car that you didn't have to read the badge (or be a car geek) to tell it was something special. I don't want a car that blends in with traffic (NASCAR's approach to racing).... I like F1/Indy because the cars don't look like (or drive like) every car I see during the drive home.

Some of us fell in love with the NSX because it made the exotic market affordable and drivable on a daily basis. NOW WHAT IS HONDA DOING? MAKING GT's more reliable ..... great :rolleyes: GT's are already good daily drivers.

The success HONDA had with the NSX.... was that they took a market segment that many people lusted after, and made it affordable and practical. That was a pretty good idea (too bad they didn't keep up with the HP bumps). Now I'm not sure what the goal is with this new car? Unless its to make something that has too much HP for the street? That blends in with ordinary looking cars. YOUR DREAMS HAVE COME TRUE if your a street racer looking to drive a sleeper... seems like even a smaller market segment than the original NSX. Too bad GT-R is already taking care of that market, what-ever you want to call it? "FAST AND BLAND"?

its sexy parked next to a Mustang, but don't park by a Ferrari or Lambo or it looks like a boat :rolleyes:

I totally agree with this quote and couldn't have said it better. To me, Honda is trying to keep up instead of being innovative. If it were up to me, I would stick with the mid-engine design with some extreme innovative engine that is extremely efficient and powerful in addition to all the typical luxury you'd expect in a high end exotic. Back to basics is always the way to go when coming up with a new idea.

Like a lot of people said...The car doesn't stand out. I didn't like the way the car looked, I didn't know why...but now that I you guys mention it. It isn't special enough. Someone sees an NSX they know your driving something special, weather or not they know their cars...someone sees you driving the ASCC(what I am calling it, cause its not an NSX) and they won't really give a double take, unless they know their cars. I am proud that Acura/Honda are top contenders for lap time around the ring, but looks matter too.
