NSX FIESTA: 20th Anniversary celebrations in Japan

Hello all...

I've been to Japan many times and am not interested in doing the multi-day tourist thing. Been to all the shrines I ever need to see on multiple occasions.

Could someone just post the Fiesta event schedule?

Thanks,

NSX Fiesta for 20th anniversary

Activities (TBD)

We may have members with different "tolerances" for hotel rates. How difficult would it be to provide for multiple hotel choices and still keep the group together? For example, some of us would love to try a Machiya while others may like the Westin because we could book rooms with our Starwood Points and stay for free. I see that the Westin has some favorable room rates but only for smoking rooms but perhaps that could be looked into.

I realize it would be best to keep the group together but some people may like to try a more traditional Japanese experience and be able to afford to do so while some may want/need to travel on a budget.

As an aside, I need to point out that although I have been "taking the lead" asking these questions I cannot say I speak for everyone because I am fortunate to be able to afford a higher room rate than many so that is why I wondering if there could be more than one option and yet still be able to travel fairly easily as a group.

Thank you, Bob.

I understand:wink:.
I can introduce some hotels in Kyoto and book for every NSXers if you need.
Of course you may book by yourselves. I am so nervous because many rooms in nice hotel are already booked by other groups, so I booked some rooms for you tentatively.
And on Nov. 21 morning we will leave our hotels and go to Suzuka together by charter bus.
It is better to go to several hotels to pick you up.

If any members cannot book for them, let me know. I can help for everyone.

Regards,
Hirofumi

Ouch...Hotel Granvia Kyoto is $447 considering the exchange rate today. Looks like I'm in the market for a roommate for those two days...

I have just booked 25 twin bed rooms for you.
Of course I can cancel or arrange this.

Hotel Granvia Kyoto
http://www.granviakyoto.com/
Rate is JPY39,900 per 2 persons, per night, including breakfast.

Many people visit to Kyoto every season, especially in autumn, so it is very hard to book room. Rate in any hotels is expensive. If you want to stay with lower, I can check another hotels avairable or not.

Let me know,
Do you want to stay in smoking room?
Do you want to stay in single bed room?
How many rooms or beds do you need for your families. Is extra bed OK?

Hirofumi

I think it is too expensive for me, too.

I am checking another hotel,
Mitsui Garden Hotel Sanjo. I think rate is acceptable.
http://www.gardenhotels.co.jp/eng/sanjo.html

Hirofumi

Hi Hirofumi,

Either way, I'd just like to be wherever the rest of the group is located. I've picked up a roommate if we're at the Hotel Granvia Kyoto or another hotel. Just let me know.

Again, thank you for all of your effort accomodating the US attendees. It's sincerely appreciated.

USD447 is too much for me, even if I share a room with someone. Please keep trying to find something less expensive - even if it is some distance from downtown Kyoto, but near a train station. Otherwise, I may stay in Tokyo and skip the Kyoto portion of the trip.

Thank you, Hirofumi, for your hard work.

Would it be possible to come up with a rough estimate for the cost while in Japan? Flights would be our responsibility, but it would help to see approximate costs for:

- hotels in each stop
- meals
- trains/transportation
- NSX Fiesta registration
- any other significant costs

Obviously at this point everything will be approximate, and costs (and exchange rates) can change, but even an approximate list of costs would be helpful.

どうもありがとう。 Dōmo arigatō

I introduce you economy hotel in Tokyo.

HOTEL JAL CITY Tamachi, Tokyo
http://www.jalhotels.com/domestic/kanto/tamachi/index.html

I was staying this hotel last week with JPY7,800(USD87).
It was comfortable:smile:. You can get there by 5 min. walk from Tamachi station, next stop Shinagawa station.

It is too early to book this hotel from their web site,
I will inform you around July when they accept our booking.

I cannot find any hotels in Kyoto with reasonable rate yet,
so I will ask to travel agency.

Hirofumi

THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH Hirofumi!!! This is very helpful. I see that the single rooms in Kyoto are much less expensive than the double rooms (12000 yen vs 40000 yen). I look forward to hearing more about the less expensive hotel options. Thank you again for all your work on this!

Number of attendees

Now 50 people will visit Japan to attend NSX 20th anniversary.
I welcome all of your coming.

I will take and escort you to several place in Japan.
But charter bus has 49 seats and some emergency seats.
If over 50 people came, we have to prepare another bus for you additionally. This is inefficient and more expensive to your transportation cost.

Can we restrict registration?
80 people for 2 buses, it is good idea but no rooms in Kyoto:wink:

Very best regards,
Hirofumi

It is too early to book room in Tokyo, so we have to book with high rate now. I will arrange our reservation with reasonable price in a few month before Fiesta.

Suggestion for accommodation in Kyoto

It is very hard that you book your room in Kyoto.

So I already booked 25 twin bed rooms in "Hotel Granvia Kyoto" for you and confirm the rate. I show them below. (Rate:USD1=JPY90)
http://www.granviakyoto.com/

Twin bed room with breakfast for 2 person
JPY39,900(USD444)/room
means JPY19,950(USD222)/person

Twin bed room and extra bed with breakfast for 3 person
JPY47,250(USD525)/room
means JPY15,750(USD175)/person

Twin bed room without breakfast for 2 person
JPY34,650(USD385)/room
means JPY17,325(USD193)/person

Twin bed room and extra bed without breakfast for 3 person
JPY40,425(USD450)/room
means JPY13,475(USD150)/person

If you want to stay in this hotel and cannot book, let me know. These 25 rooms are booked for all of you.
Hotel Granvia is high grade hotel and expensive. But if you share your room, cost is acceptable in this busy season, autumn in Kyoto. Please consider this.

I am looking economy hotels in Kyoto, but all rooms are occupied and cannot book any rooms yet.

Regards,
Hirofumi

We are all very appreciative of your efforts and kindness in inviting us to attend Fiesta. If you need to limit the number of visitors, please let us know what works for you so we can start a final list. Many of us have made airline reservations already so if there is going to be a limit we should announce it now.

It probably would also make sense that in order to get true commitments from everyone interested that we start arranging for our attendees to make a deposit to hold their place and once the list is full then all else will go on a waiting list. Naturally, all those who have already made the financial commitment to book flights would be guaranteed to be on the list.

Additionally, it appears that some European members are interested as well so if there is going to be limit on "foreign" attendees it should be made known to them on their Board as well.

Thank you again Hirofumi.

Thanks for your suggestion, Bob.

Of course we do accept 53 people including latest attendee "trainingrevolution" definitely. I booked 5 more rooms in Granvia and 9 rooms in Westin Miyako additionally. Accommodation in Kyoto is big problem.
Although it is too early to book rooms, I am afraid we can prepare all rooms for you or not.

You may travel in Japan yourselves. I want to know how many attendees will join our tour I show you as tentative plan.

NSX & HONDA Sportcars Club (president Jean C. Zuker) member will attend NSX Fiesta 2010, too. Their traveling is planned by travel agent. I estimate 10 or 15 people will come.

I could not imagine so many people will join:eek:. Sorry.
I will arrange itinerary again for 70 attendees (except European).
We need two buses:wink:

I posted updated RSVP "Rules" here:

http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132934&page=2

I had listed the cut-off as 55 from North America not realizing you edited your post to 70 not including Europeans. However, I will edit my post to indicate we may be able to accommodate 70 from North America but I will still keep all those beyond 55 on a Waiting List.

Re: Number of attendees

I just wanted to let you know that I booked a room for me and Larry Bastanza in the Westin Miyako under my account because I have points for a free room so I will not need to use one of your blocked rooms at the Westin.

For anyone else who has Starwood SPG points, an "upgraded" room with two beds (400+ square feet) is going for 11,000 points per night and the regular cash rate was 31,000-34,000Y per night.

OK, Bob.

I recommend Westin Miyako and Graniva Kyoto to attendees. Westin is most famous hotel in Kyoto. For those who want to stay in single bed room, I suggest another economy hotel later.

Your link for jalhotels was not working so I am putting another one here:

JAL - economy hotel

For those looking for a single room, this looks like a good deal with the best price being for reservations made at least 60 days in advance but the reservation cannot be cancelled. That rate is 9800Y/night or approximately $108 for a 195 sq ft room.

Hirofumi,

Do you know anything about this hotel:

Karasuma Kyoto Hotel

They have single rooms (small but manageable at 15 sq m) that generally start at 7100Y and appear to go up to 9200Y for a single depending upon the date.

Twin rooms start at 9400Y.

This hotel is not accepting reservations for dates beyond May as of right now.
