Prospective owner with a few questions

I agree... I see how 2.7 secs at the bottom of this site (https://nsx.acura.com/explore/power-unit) but as people have noted it's always been higher during media review. I guess Germans like to post conservative numbers with the R8 V10+Performance lists 3.2 but I think has been tested 2.6. Again, I doubt that anyone will tell the difference.



I suspect they've experimented with much more aggressive launch regimes than the standard ~2200 rpm start in track mode. I realize the electric motors offer max torque from jump, but I would bet that a ~6K launch used by others like the 911 Turbo would result in much faster times, if also more mechanical issues.

I also bet that Acura leans conservative with the actual HP/TQ output of this car.

I've gotten 2.9 seconds with the temperature about 90 degrees out. I have a 2020 NSX. Only thing that may bother you in the lack of sound; I was coming from a 2019 Z06 Corvette and what a difference.

I have seen many excellent posts on the easy fix for that.
 
Great - thanks! I will keep an eye out for your white NSX :) Working with McGrath Acura to get some indicative pricing on 2021. Sucks that I may have missed out on the incentives :(

I am going back and forth on white vs silver at the moment.


You might split the difference in color. Mine is a Casino white pearl and when the previous owner drove up, I could swear it was silver. Others have commented to me that in certain light it does look silver. I see it as white, white metallic and light silver depending on the light.

LOL - now I got another contending color to consider :) They all look amazing. Now the hunt for a dealer who will provide the best deal continues.

Some testers and publications use a two foot rollout for their acceleration tests numbers. This is where the 2.7 comes from. This usually amounts to .2 seconds off the real world. My best is 2.85 without rollout so I guess that it would be at 2.65 if the .2 seconds is deducted. I'm getting a 1.65 sixty foot time at the drag strip with Conti6 tires so this car hooks up and that was last summer in AZ heat at 105 degrees (but it was dry heat). By my third run heat soak had me down to 1.72 sixty foot time.

Sled Driver, when you say a 2 foot roll out are you saying that the car is in launch mode and takes off but the timer does not begin until the car has traveled two feet? Over the years I had always thought that a rolling start would give you the best time, however I have read some of the car mags where they say otherwise-suggesting that best 0 to 60mph are from a dead stop.

Sorry I didn't see you post. Yes. Car&Driver and most magazines believe it takes .2 seconds reaction time for the car to move. If you watch some drag racers they try and cheat the staging light by moving the front wheels farther forward.

Someone in the FB group ran a 10.4 today. Likewise with JB4 if you can get good traction I believe 2.6 is fairly easily attainable on the 98 oct map. I am 5'9'' and fit the car just fine. And it is stupid fast. I personally hit 184 in a standing mile event recently and that was with spinning in first two gears on launch.

I was curious can you run JB4 without SOS downpipes and how much power can I expect sat with Map 2? I think it's around 60HP but may be that's with downpipe.

The 10.4 was without downpipes. The downpipes certainly help but the majority of the power comes from the JB4. Both are certainly worth doing with dps being the best mod for the car imo as the driving experience is enhanced so greatly by the sound. And yes, all quoted power figures include dps.

Thank you! I didn't see much info on our forum on JB4 so I posted something within modifications. May be not a popular mod and I guess I can't blame folks since the car is plenty quick from stock and potential warranty issues with dealerships.

For reasons I won't get into, this forum is a ghost town for NC1 information. If you buy a car and join the NC1 owners group on FB there is a huge amount of information on mods including JB4. It is an incredibly popular mod with the majority of the owners in the group having one and I believe Chris at SOS has sold several hundred of them, despite there only being a little over 2,000 cars produced for the entire world the last I knew.

Prime is being actively updated and better moderated...so NC1 owners come on back....

Yes, they have done a nice job of posting files that are relevant to the NC1. Those files come from this site: https://acurazine.com/forums/second-generation-nsx-2017-438/ I am personally not a fan of Facebook and rarely use it for anything. I do understand that it seems more user friendly and relevant. It is not like our community at large is very big even when you consider all the NSX generations. If I remember correctly there were about 8000 NSXs sold in the US from 91 through 2005. Add to that the slightly over 2000 NC1s and it is still a small group. Ferrari sells over 12,000 cars per year. Porsche sells probably a similar number not including the SUVs. I am looking forward to the improvements here and as always want to learn and enjoy my car as much as possible.

I prefer car forums as well but we have to change with the times. I have been on car forums for 20 years or so but car discussion is definitely migrating towards social media based groups. The discussion isn't as deep as it is on forums but there is more of it and, as a result, great info gets posted, you just have to wade through a bunch.
