What work do we do ourselves ??

I was wondering what maintenance work owners do themselves on their NSX. I am definitely not an auto-mechanic myself but want to know as much as possible about the car. On the other hand I don't want to ruin the car by doing obvious things wrong that could have been better done by any competent mechanic.
Problem is, from what I heard, there are not many mechanics in Europe who are NSX-qualified.

MvM,
I do *nothing* on my car since I am completely impaired on those kind of work

But it is not correct that we do not have good mechanics in Europe: I know at least three in Switzerland that are TOP ones (people that work in heaviliy modified NSX, NSX-TT, ...) and with much track experience. Ok, from Netherland it would be a long trip till here

Personally i stopped bringing my NSX to the Honda dealer, or any garage for that matter.
I simply do not believe in the skills of the mechanics (sorry for that, offcourse there are exceptions). The best 'NSX' mechanic here in Holland worked on my NSX, and i found it a very bad experience, though other NSX owners did find the services this dealer offered oke (there out of business now). I'm probably to anal about my car (if complaining about stripped bolts and scratches is being anal).

I do the work myself now. From the regular oilchange, doing the brakes, fixing electronic faults, replacing the A/C condesor in the dash, to the more challenged installation of shortgears (how more difficult can it get?).

Without the existance of PRIME or NXSC, WOW, without the online manual, i wouldn't have been able to do most of it, especially since a lot of procedures are different from other cars.

*TIP*
If you guys have questions about doing the more challenged things yourself, mail Larry Bastanza, he does al the work himself as well, and knows a great deal from experience.

I change oil, brake pads, removed dust shields on front brakes, replaced springs/shocks, sparks plugs, air filter, change brake fluid, removed front bumper for respray, replaced chip in ECU.
I have also fabricated seat mounts for Sparco Evo, and fitted the seat. Will be fabricating air deflectors for for brakes next. Then possibly having an attempt at making a composite engine cover.

I do what I can do, just save money with the dealer. After each track event I change oil etc. It would cost too much to keep taking it to a dealer every time.

I have not found a 'specialist' in the UK. We have 5 dealers in the UK which are NSX approved. So I take my car to one of those. They are working on an NSX all the time, so they should have enough experience to do a good job. I doubt they take the time and care as Mark Basch though, and they always treat me like 'just another customer'. I get the same service as someone with a Civic (which I also have).
