    Twin Tube vs. Monotube Shocks

I'd like an informed opinion on the comparison of two types of shocks, both from reputable manufacturers. The two shocks are the AST 4200 Monotube non-inverted double adjustable and the JRZ RS Twin Tube non-inverted double adjustable. Other than design, the only other fundamental difference is...

    Corner balance

You might laugh at this: With the spring change and the strut rebuild/re-valve I did for the race car, I figured the corner balance to be pretty important so I bought some scales (couldn't find any to borrow) and set aside a whole day to get it right. I get the scales out and test them...

    Bfg r1

Has anyone used the BFG R1 (on any car)? I need to make a decision between using the 225 Hoosier R6 and the 235 BFG R1. Longevity is a consideration.

    R888 tread and mounting

Can anybody comment as to whether the R888 can be reverse mounted (i.e. tread going in the wrong direction) when used for dry track? I have a worn set that I'd like to use which need some wear balancing.

A glimpse at our Financial Crisis

I'm not one to post hyperlinks to opinions and would be the first to criticize those who do, but I look at this link as more factual than opinion: AIG Counterparties Revealed As I've been saying from the very beginning, this financial crisis has more to do with gambling than it has to do with...

Breaking in an engine on a race car

Hi guys, I find myself in a strange predicament. My Subaru has undergone transformation into a track only car while at the same time received a new motor. I've got to break in the motor, but I can't drive it on the street (legal and safety issues). The two most obvious answers are 1) an...

My blown Engine = Autobahn track time for you!

I have a spot in the advanced group for the August 18th MVPTracktime event. As my subie engine is currently seized from a very exciting head gasket failure at Road America, I won't be able to attend the event. Mark charges $245 for the event, PM me and we can discuss discounts for Prime...

    car trailer

Can anyone recommend a good resonably priced ($5k or less) car hauler? I was thinking 18-20 feet, either open or enclosed. What other accesories would I need that I might not have thought to buy?

    The RacerX connection

I have always been a big fan of Mr. Morrison's Honda Challenge NSX. It was certainly great to see the car in the last Grassroots Motorsports magazine where it had done quite well in their track car competition. Well, recently I found an odd reference in a completly unrelated topic that leads...

Funny intake sound at VTEC RPMs

In 2nd gear around 6000+ RPMs, there is the strangest sound coming from my intake. It sounds rather like small pebbles getting kicked up into the wheel well, which is what I thought it was at first. But it happens every time I hit high RPM in 2nd. Obviously I haven't tried it in third because...

Sighting: 97+ Black/Tan NSX at Fox Valley Motorcars

Picked up my favorite NSX tonight at FVMC. Parked right next to me (other than the 27 Lotus Elise, 14 Gallardo, 4 Murcielago) is a 97+ Black and Tan NSX, rumored to be a trade-in (not verified though). It looked to be in great condition- 32k miles (seen at dusk). Inquire with Bill Nuccio Jr...

    The Physics of Racing

From an engineering perspective, here is an interesting analysis of the physics of racing (equations and all). Now that we are entering the off-season, I thought some of you might enjoy some "light" reading. It's written with the novice in mind-- that would be ME. The Physics of Racing

    Lulzim Osmani NSX owner (Chicago)

Did anyone here know Lulzim? We're doing a memorial plaque for him-- he passed away last year. It mentioned that he loved his NSX, so I thought I'd post to see if he was an active member. Randy

    NSX-T at Grand Honda

I'll post this again, as the last post was deleted with no explanation. Here is a Gray 1995 NSX-T with 1,100 miles for sale. You should ask yourself two questions. First, did they make a [edit: coupe] in 1995? Second, did they make gray in 1995? Given an asking price of about $47k, it seems...

    Zanardi Rack and Pinion

Can anyone provide me with copies of the service manual for the manual steering rack on a Zanardi? Does one exist or should I try using the '91 manual rack schematic (which isn't the same I don't think)? How similar is it to the '96 EPS? Randy

    Luv the CEL warranty

I had a CEL pop up the other night that coded to the front O2 sensor. Took the car in under warranty to have it replaced. They couldn't remove the sensor, so they're replacing both the sensor AND the exhaust manifold N/C (no charge). Glad to have a 14 year warranty.
