From the pictures in here, the car is much better looking than I expected. Especially the interior.
Yeah, pictures don't do it justice. The car has a nice "presence" and has just enough of a taste of Acura without it looking exactly like the other sedans in the lineup. The designers have done a good job with proportions to make it feel like a much bigger car than it really is.
Hmm, well.... those pictures make it look pretty nice
Ha, I'm sure the nice background helps too. Those were taken on a fun little one-lane road in Pioneer Park in my hometown in St. George, Utah. Love the red rock landscape up there.
Now Acura gives us the rebirth of the 04-08 TSX and people complain again? And I really don't understand all of the comments at the start of this thread about the use of premium gas.
Agreed, it's a baby TSX. Even more than that, I feel like this car is a worthy tribute to the Integra - a fun economical 4 cyl that handles amazingly right out of the box.
The interior is much nicer than the Civic with better material, navigation screen, etc.
Definitely.
Just curious did you have to pay MSRP or is there room for negotiation with the dealer since the car is brand new. Is the navigation screen high def like the TSX/TL? IIRC it is but just want to confirm
Right now I am involved in a partnership of sorts with Acura. I'm driving the ILX for a year and blogging about my adventures on my "Drive to Five" blog that I had been tracking mileage updates on my Legend with (
http://drivetofive.wordpress.com). At the end of the year, the ILX becomes mine but I'll be responsible for tax implications. That said, I don't know about negotiation room on the dealer's end but I suspect that there are some great incentives as Acura wants to get this car moving. The ILX 6MT 2.4L equipped as mine is runs about $30k, plus the accessory add-ons.
The Nav screen on Tech-equipped models is 8" (perhaps even bigger than current TSX/TL). One thing to keep in mind is that you cannot order the Tech package with the 6-speed manual.
Do you plan on putting 500,000 miles on that ILX like you did with that beautiful coupe legend?
It'll take me awhile to get there, but I certainly do plan on driving this ILX quite a bit. I'm already planning some big summer adventures. I've driven through 4 states already (UT/AZ/NV/CA) and I'll be doing a cross-country trip to Milwaukee, WI and back at the end of next month. Excited to get the car out on the open road and see how it behaves.
I do still have the Legend. It turned over 500,000 miles on the original engine, trans, and clutch last November at the Drive to Five celebration at Acura headquarters in LA.
At 514,300 miles now it's gone through 158 oil changes, 2 alternators, 6 timing belts & water pumps, 4 windshields, and only been towed once when the original fuel pump died at 399,750 miles. It starts up every time. I plan on driving it to work once a week to keep it maintained, but it's otherwise in retirement mode now and loving it. This is a pic I took a couple weeks ago. Still original paint minus the front end which was redone in 2007 after I hit 2 deer in Texas with it.
Is it factory ride height or it's been lowered?
Factory ride height on mine, but I'm sure the aftermarket industry is already offering suspension upgrades for those who wish to go that route.
I did drop the ILX off this morning at 2,500 miles on the odometer for a couple service items with Acura of Tempe. They're going to reset the TPMS light - it's been giving me an error since the car had about 50 miles on it. Probably just an activation issue. They're also touching up a very small scratch on the driver's door that we suspect may have happened during transport of the car to Arizona.
Service advisor said I'm the "guinea pig." First ILX driver to bring a car in for maintenance so far.
