Car and Driver Ann'y in Indy

LETS DO THIS!! I am in for sure....who else wants in?? There better be all the Indy crew there at least...I mean, it is at IRP!! :D

Yeah, I think this is a no-brainer, looks like a very cool event, the likes of which we don't see too often (or ever) around here. :cool: I'm in for the whole weekend. I don't know if we have enough people to do the car corral but maybe if we combined with the S2K crowd we would. You know some of those guys I'm sure Meeyatch, maybe you could float the idea past them? For those that didn't look here is some of the machinery in attendance that you can buy a brief ride in;

I'm signed up for the 23rd. It'll be great to meet everyone. I'm still debating if i should take the nsx or evo :confused:

Forgot to ask what is a good close hotel there. Please recommend and we can all park together :smile:

The Power Tour was just in town this past Monday. I met up with my Prowler friends while they were here. They and several other members of the Power Tour stayed at the Holiday in Express in Brownsburg.

When I parked there to waste some time before we went out to eat, one of the young ladies working at the hotel came out to look at all the cars. Later, in the "bar" (not really more like a frig with a few items in it) are I over hear someone ask if she saw any cars in the parking lot she liked. Mind you there were all sort of American Muscle there. She said no to most of the cars they mentioned, but she did say she would take the NSX. :)

Well my dad and I are registered for the 12:00pm CGT ride on the 23rd :biggrin:

You can register for a day now?? I thought you had to do it on the day of the event. :confused:

Hmmm, Well I checked the 12:00pm box for the CGT and paid my extra $10. It does say "The first 60 people to register per hour get a chance to ride in exotic cars with a professional driver." Not 100% sure what that means. In my confirmation email it said "You are registered for the CAR and DRIVER 50th Anniversary event at Indianapolis Raceway Park July 23-34, 2005. You will receive additional details and a printable ticket via email before the event. You will need to present a valid ID to enter the event." So I guess I'll wait until I receive my "additional details" to see what's up. If I have to get there at 4 in the morning, I'm riding in that CGT :tongue:

Haha, I wish I had a good digital video camera for this ride

Buy one. ;)

Seriously....how often do you get a chance to ride in a Carrera GT with one of the best Porsche race drivers ever??

Just don't drive your NSX to the event or mention you have one...

Brock will put you at the bottom of the list.

He clearly has a bug up his butt about Jap cars...especially the NSX based on his statements earlier this year during a televised auction where he described the NSX as "No heart" and Honda lacking race history...

Additionally, when the NSX finished 1st in class at his own event (Cannonball 2005), he did not let the NSX'r speak and thank sponsors like he did for the other 1st in class winners.

Would be inetresting to hear him narrate the original Cannonball movie as the event is touted as "There are no rules" when in fact they have become nothing but rules.

3M TA3

:tongue:

Are you serious?? I would have been all about asking him what the hell was up with that!! If in fact he really does have a grudge against the NSX, that is no reason to deny a competitor the same right to thank sponsors as all the others had. :mad: :mad:

Guess who just wasted $45 non-refundable dollars on signing up for this only to find out 15 minutes ago that that same weekend they have to go to a wedding in Canada for a friend of their wife?? DING! DING! That is right....I DID!! :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

I cribbed this from another site;

Friday June 17th 3:00Grand Car Cruise Indianapolis Zoo
The Gathering of Ferrari and Dinner Friday June 17th 4 PM to 8 PM Monument Circle & Columbia Club

On Friday, the teams get down to the real business of racing in Indianapolis. The morning and early afternoon at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway are filled with the wail of screaming V10s.

After the USGP practice ends, up to 50 Ferraris will be allowed to gather at the Indianapolis Zoo where they will then be escorted by the Indianapolis Police Motorcycle Brigade through downtown Indianapolis. The ‘Grand Car Cruise’ ends with the Gathering of Ferrari on the bricks of monument circle.

From 4 PM to 8 PM more than 100 Ferraris will join with two of Michael Schumacher’s world championship Ferraris on the Circle in downtown Indianapolis. There will be F-1 simulators to try your hand at driving a Formula One car and street performers to add to the ambience.

On the 10th floor of the Columbia Club, which is the oldest private club in Indiana, we will provide you with a lavish Italian buffet for all of the attending club members to enjoy.

Ferrari concours

Tuesday June 21st 7 AM to 4 PMFCA National Concours Indianapolis Motor Speedway
On Tuesday, we will have the 2005 National Concours on the golf course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. With two thirds of the population of the United States within a days drive of Indianapolis, we expect one of the largest and most complete collection of Ferrari cars to be in attendance

Never really got a good accounting of who's going. I'll be there tomorrow (saturday) from around 2:00 - 6:00. Hopefully see some fellow NSX's out and about :cool:

Nate

Doh, my dad and I will be there around 11:15-?. We have a noon spot in the CGT. I'm getting my friends camera so a video will be in off topic
