About a week ago, speedometer went to zero. Fast forward to this morning, my car wouldn't start. There is no crank and I replaced the starter 3 years ago so I don't believe it's the starter. I also replaced the battery 2 years ago so I know it's not the battery, I tried my back up battery and same issue.

At the same time there is no power to power steering, stereo, and climate control. Seems like wiring issue but I don't know where to start. Help please if anyone had this issue before. Thank you so much.

we need more info then

help my car wont start.

how many miles on this said 1992?

any work done recently?

are you in a cold enviroment? IE snow

etc. etc.

if your in a cold enviroment then it could be your battery, does the lights on the dash glow? when you turn the key does it click? does it dim the lights?
have you ever replace your main relay?

do you have an after market alarm/ kill switch?
is said alarm in Valet mode?

do you have gas? how old is the gas?

depending on miles have you replaced your ignition switch?

have you chaecked your fuses? front, middle and rear?

are you pressing the clutch in or do you think the clutch switch above the pedal is bad or missing the rubber stoppy thing.

has anyone else driven your car?

there are so many things you need to answer before a real HELP ME can occur

but to answer your question has this happened to any else before? the answer is yes

when I did a search I found

I gave up copy and pasting them cuz there was so many. actually endless threads with people
that had similar problems

main relay or fuel pump

are the normal reasons it will not start

but if it doesnt even crank then it has to be the starter.

but you said you replaced it 3 years ago. I still have my Original 20 year old starter in my 92 and its still very strong.

oh if the speedo goes out its either the fuse or the speed sensor on the transmission

Probably your ignition switch - an easy DIY (do a search here). Probably NOT your starter. These starters are very robust and seldom have trouble.

would ignition switch have anything to do with power seat? my car has 110k and never replaced the ignition switch nor the main relay...

It actually clicked once and then wouldn't click again after that... I also tried push start without success and does this rule out ignition switch?

I mean, let's go with the basics. It's like any other car -- if we jump to conclusions and start from specifics it could take forever!

For your car to start you need:

Spark
Fuel
Air(compression)

Determine if it's getting spark. It doesn't matter how long ago you replaced everything, just double check. Plugs, Wires, Dizzy, Starter, etc.

Is it getting fuel? Check fuel pump, fuel lines, injectors, related fuses, ignition, etc.

Is it getting compression? Compression/Leak Test.

You will be able to find the culprit, I'm sure. Good luck, keep us posted.

All above are food suggestions. I would recommend you check the small wire with the spade female end on it on the top of your starter. If its loose or corroded it will do what you describe. Clean, tighten and reconnect.

Thanks guys for your comments, I'm gonna do some serious testing on the weekend. I have the aftermarket alarm that used to give me problems (located right below the steering wheel middle of bunch of wires). I'm going to disable this, check the wires, replace the battery terminals. I also ordered the main relay and ignition switch from the dealer which will arrive monday.

I'll post an update here. Please add comments if anyone had similar issue where power seat, stereo, and car not starting at the same time. Thanks again.

so back to basics then...

headlights work? if no then the battery is flat/ bad connection.

seats work with ignition off, radio doesn't so that is 2 separate issues if neither work, check the fuses in all 3 fuse boxes!

any dash lights when ignition on? if they come on then you should be able to bump it.

is the fuel pump buzzing up when you switch ignition on? should buzz until the fuel pressure is made

turn the headlights on, and try to start the car. do the lights dim/go out?

common fault is the main relay, behind the seats, probably need re-soldering as the relay pins corrode under the solder, or the ignition switch needs a clean!

@biscuit would that disable the power seats and stereo? I can't seem to figure out 1 cause that would knock these out same time...

No, I mean I don't see how it would. However I'd you've been cranking on that battery you may have weakened it to the point of not allowing the heavy draw items like the seats to function.

Oh didn't see you had an alarm. I'd immediately be suspicious of that b4 anything else.

Check your ground cable. My civic just went thru the same mess. The tranny to chassis ground cable were so corroded it wouldnt start the car. All power work though. Just check the ground cable from battery to chassis. Make sure its tight.

You can't assume electrical problems are related to one another. Your seats not working isn't an indicator that your ignition problem has something to do with that. Treat it as a separate issue -- if your seats work subsequently, then there you go. If not, diagnose the seats next.

Manual or Auto trans?

Are you sure BOTH battery terminals are tight and WILL NOT ROTATE on the battery post if you try hard to do so? Did you jump the car with another car, RUNNING, using the proper terminals in the engine bay?

Do you have a service manual? If not download it.

This does sound like the ignition switch. The main relay would not keep the car from cranking(but I would replace it anyway, it is due). But if it is an auto, nuetral safety switch is possible too.

@comptonassdaniel if it's not related problem how could I explain all three symptoms happening at the exact same time when I drive the car everyday without any problems? I find it hard to believe it's not related. I actually changed the battery terminal for + only and still the same issue.

Seems like a dead battery issue to me..

I would try jump starting the car... but jump start it properly (as Larry describes). Also, when jumping it, make sure the car that is running is running with their RPMs up and leave them up for a minute or two before attempting to start the NSX (gives the NSX battery time to get a slight charge).
