How much do you pay for insurance?

Got a quote from Allstate on Sunday actually,

Male
26
3 tickets on record
Virginia Beach VA
1992 NSX, told them it would be a weekend car with 8K miles a year.... Probably would be much less than that.
$90/month

That's full coverage with 1000 DED and state minimums.

Insurance is a little cheaper out here. I moved here from CO in Feb and I was paying $120 a month in Denver for my 1995 Integra GSR, but once I got here it dropped to $65 a month.

$304 every 6 months with USAA in Texas.

Discounts for multi-car and reduced (driving) mileage. It is not insured as a daily driver. USAA told me the NSX is in their highest (most expensive) category for repair costs. I assume that's because of the aluminum body and expensive parts. I'm pleased overall though on the insurance costs. My son's Element costs 3X to insure.

I don't know how you guys get such cheap coverage. I have mine listed as a 3rd car, garaged, less than 1k miles a year, etc etc etc. I own my car outright, I haven't had a ticket in 16 years and I still pay $1400/yr. I pay $1500/yr for the S4 and $1300/yr for the S6. So we have 3 cars, home owners insurance and a 1 million dollar life insurance policy on both me and my wife all thru the same company. (Amica)
I also have 300k/500k (or something) on liability on all three cars. Oh, and I just raised the deductible on the NSX to $1,000... (because I figured if anything ever happened, it'd be toast anyhow)

And I still couldn't talk the lady down on the NSX. Is it time for me to change, or is it because I live in the city?

Amica is always rated as one of the top insurance companies, right? But I always had heard their rates were high.

I have three drivers, five cars, none garaged (two carports). Do not live in the city but drive into it every day. My wife and I have clean driving records but I have a 17 yr. old son (ouch for insurance).

Amica is rated high, but on the flip side I've been with them for 8 years or so. They were WAY cheaper when I switched from State Farm back then...but now that I have a house, 3 cars, life insurance, etc etc, I feel like they're jacking me up. I mean, all the multi-discounts should help out. I hate the fact that I'm paying $1400/yr on a car that I now only use once in awhile.

However, it is a 1991...and some companies won't even touch it.

Ok...time to switch.

Before switching, just make sure you're switching with "like" coverage. You metioned having 300k/500k (or something) on liability, I think you probably have 250k/500k on liability. I think the next level down (less coverage) is 100k/300k. If you have assests to protect, it make sense to stay with your current liability coverage. Good luck on your search for future $aving$.

Ok, here's what I have:

$500k Liability each accident (on all 3 cars)
$300k Underinsured motorists each accident (on all 3 cars)

$500 deductable on S4/S6
$1000 deductable on NSX

The NSX is listed as a weekend vehicle less than 1k a year and I'm paying $1400/yr on it...meanwhile the S4 is my daily driver and I'm paying like $1500/yr on it. Almost the same. Just seems odd. (Again, married, 32, no tickets since I was 16)

Is it a big deal to insure one car with another company???

NSX at 1K miles per year? USAA's lowest category was 6K miles per year. Maybe they have a collector's category but my NSX is considered a pleasure vehicle.

I just did the "online quote" and it came out to $587 annually for 40k declared value, 300/100/50 with a $500 deductable. I already sent away for the application.

So they'll pay for my car if something happens, right?! lol. It's almost a 1/3 of what I'm paying now.
But since I don't have time to really drive it much anymore, I think it makes perfect sense. I only get into it two or three times a month now...and it's summer. Come winter it will get out even less.

Thanks for the tip!

I had to file a claim on my Pantera once. My gearbox was out of the car sitting in my garage, was getting ready to put it back in. I went in the house for 15 minutes, came back out and it was gone. They paid for the ZF, 10 grand without hassle. Been with them now for 5 years. They have been great.

I don't pay squat. my mom pays for all my stuff till I turn 19!!
I think she pays about $4000 a year for me though, with all my tickets. If she knew I had a supercharger she'd have a stroke!!!
