Re: Spy Shots: First images of 2011 Acura NSX

Looking at the picture above at least Honda kept the heritage of the tall antenae alive.

Re: Spy Shots: First images of 2011 Acura NSX

KGP spy shooters said:
It appears that Acura has finally settled on a direction for the next-
generation NSX, as evidenced by this prototype that has popped up on
the public roads surrounding the Nürburgring.
Rumors of design dissent have plagued the new NSX program since Acura's
Advanced Sports Car Concept debuted to a lukewarm reception at
Detroit's North American International Auto Show in January 2007. The
resulting uncertainty reportedly delayed the introduction of the
production NSX at last fall's Tokyo Motor Show, while Acura decided on
a true design direction for the supercar. Now that things have
apparently sorted themselves out, we can break down the design
decisions that Acura has made.

It appears that the general layout of Acura's Advanced Sports Car
Concept has survived, but changes have been made to increase the level
of aggresion for the NSX. The prototype's nose shows marked changes
over the concept, with two large, wide-set intakes flanking an even
larger central grille. The result is a less pretty, but more
aggressive face. The concept's straight slit-like headlights have
been ditched in favor of more expressive lights that have an angular,
notchy quality to their shape.

The general shape of the NSX's profile looks very similar to the
concept, although a taller, more production-feasible greenhouse
appears to be in play on the test vehicle. The side sculpting has
also been reworked with the prototype's convex rocker panels jutting
outward, instead of the concept's lower rockers, which tucked
gracefully under the car. Once again, the end result is a more
muscled look for the production model.

The production NSX retains the concept's dual stacked exhaust set-up,
but rest of the rear bumper is completely different, with reconfigured
air ducts now stretching all the way across the back. The aesthetic
result is a more squat, athletic stance for the production NSX. The
prototype's flowing, fastback rear deck also shows significant changes
over the concept's more svelte look. The rear hatch now kicks up
between the tail-lights, which gives the prototype a more broad-
shouldered look to match the likes of the Nissan GT-R. New tail-
lights complete the package, although it's hard to tell if they will
stretch all the way across the tail, or if they'll be confined to the
outer flanks.

So there it is...

Looks, like a mix between the Corvette Z06 and Lexus LF-A. I wonder what the specs will be? I wonder how much it's going to cost. I wonder if it's going to have a back seat. I wonder if it's going to be an Acura again (I hope so). I wonder when Honda will reveal the actual car. It looks like the engine is in the front. I like the stacked exhaust. I love the front. It has great lines. Wow, I am soooooo excited. I feel like a kid again. Somebody wake up and get on this thread before I lose my mind.

This car looks so much better than that ugly concept a couple of years ago. This is what I have been waiting for since the late 90's. My God Honda. You're going to do it. You're back! I am so happy.

Hey, it's on! Honda is back in the game. They HAVE to beat the GT-R. They can't let Nissan take all the glory. This car HAS to be a GT-R killer, just on GP. If it can't beat the GT-R then they need to sit down. Because if it's going to cost $100,000 and be any less of a car than the GT-R then I don't know what to say.

Re: Spy Shots: First images of 2011 Acura NSX

I really like it, but it's no NSX to me. Its lines are cleaner yet less curvy than the LFA, almost sterile. If Toyota can make a mid-engine look like a GT, why can't Honda?

Re: Spy Shots: First images of 2011 Acura NSX

I like it a lot.

Why shouldn't it be called an NSX?

To me, the meaning of "NSX" represents technologies that are far advanced and superiors than those offered by other sports car manufacturers.

If this car can satisfy that, it should still be called an NSX regardless of the placement of the engine, size or drive train.

Re: Spy Shots: First images of 2011 Acura NSX

Can everyone please stop calling it the next NSX? We all know it won't be called an NSX. It's not an NSX!

<exhales>

Thanks. :D

Damn, I think I woke up on the wrong side of the bed! :)

Re: Spy Shots: First images of 2011 Acura NSX

Looks like a 350Z front and mid-section with a BMW-like rear/trunk/hatch.

Surely it is front engine.

Not exotic. Not an NSX.

Re: Spy Shots: First images of 2011 Acura NSX

I know this is the subject of great debate, but if we set aside the equation; mid-engine = exotic: and we embrace a small FR platform that appears to be the size of an S2K with the horsepower of a Gallardo... then Honda may have unleashed a new era in performance.

Nobody will dispute that a GT can not be a sexy car that is capable of posting equal if not better performance figures to a mid-engine (while still carrying groceries and golf clubs). Maybe we need to be a little more open-minded?

Sometimes... change is good. An example? Underwear & girlfriends.

Re: Spy Shots: First images of 2011 Acura NSX

I like it. I like it a lot. Just because the car isn't as low as the previous NSX doesn't make it not an NSX. And I am sure that the front engine design was done for a reason.

Overall, what really matters is the car's performance. I can't wait to see some numbers posted.

Come on guys, don't be so pessimistic about the car. Things change, evolve, and move on. Just like everything, you can't hold on to the past forever. There will probably be some things about the old NSX that you will perfer and there will be things about the new that are improvments.

I don't like how the new Accord looks but I can't deny that it's a better car than the previous version in so many ways.

I will miss the low profile of the previous NSX, but I don't doubt Honda's direction.
