Looks like this NSX didn't do as well as the Esprit in Spy Who Loved Me.
We might get a lot of new threads in the DIY, electrical, interior, and especially, "detailing & car care", as they're planning to rebuild. According to the article, "there was some damage to the A -pillar during retrieval":

I'd be really surprised if he can somehow source enough parts to bring this thing back to life given the shape it's in, but I'm no expert in restoring cars, so I could be out of my league. Seems like the perfect donor car for a few salvageable parts that someone out there may need for a car that's nearly complete. Obviously the latter doesn't make as big a splash (pun intended) for a news story, but still allows a car that was basically lost and gone forever to be part of some other car's legacy. Either way, cool stuff and best of luck with it!

$8500 seems like somebody got caught up in a bidding frenzy. I could see it possibly becoming a shell for a track only car with a J series engine. A restoration back to OEM condition is probably possible with enough money; but, the restoration cost will greatly exceed the current market price of a nice complete running na1 coupe.

I have been down the 'complete' resto rabbit hole with one car (that was in much better shape than the subject NSX). Not doing that again! I expect that the more likely outcome is that it will get some clean up and then sit someplace after the new owner has figured out what this is going to cost. Keep an eye out for a body shell coming up for sale in the 'For Sale' section in a year or two.

This is the guy who bought it. I’m sure he’ll be posting progress pics: https://instagram.com/helix_auto_works
I was thinking that there would be no way to restore this without spending twice as much as it would be worth when done, but that is a shite load of NSX's in his garage so he probably knows a lot better than I do. Interesting story.

My guess is the internet clout, follower count, add revenue, and expected customer draw to his shop is worth the investment of paying more to restore this than to just buy one in rough shape for 30k. You know that when this is all done every car site on the web is going to post an article about it.

Turning that thing into a track car probably wouldn't be too bad for someone well versed in NSXs and building track cars, which the buyer certainly is, assuming the chassis isn't too jacked up. It probably won't be winning any concours d'eleganc events but I could see it realistically ending up a stripped down track ghoul.

I mainly just want to see the power washing video.

Yes your correct. Nico is the only single one. :)
The only one who owns just 1 NSX? Just kidding …

@JohnWayne – thanks for your reply! I’m asking these questions because supporters of this restoration project simply want to know WHO is WHO in this game, I guess. According to one of the biggest auto magazines for car enthusiasts in Europe (inkluding a yes/no poll for this Acura NSX ) reports …

https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/oldtimer/acura-nsx-honda-16-jahre-unter-wasser-restauration/

… Nico is the only one of the trio with no NSX (resp. the new owner) and the co-founders Jay & Ramzi are Nicos supporters.

On the other hand, according to the foxnews report …

https://www.foxnews.com/auto/acura-nsx-supercar-found-river-years-sold

Ramzi is the only one with no NSX - Quote:

"Co-owner Jay told Fox News Digital that he'd been looking for an NSX for his business partner, Ramzi, who is the only one of the trio that doesn't own one himself, when he came across the listing. Now they and their associate, Nico, plan to take on the task of getting it roadworthy again"

So – who is wrong and who is right?

“The only problem that we come in contact with is our alkaline paint stripper actually eats soft metals. So if there's aluminum, magnesium, or a pot metal on the car, it'll react and it'll dissolve it.”

Ramzi is the one without his own NSX.

@Hass - That‘s right – if there would be bare aluminum/magnesium. But when you look at the 27-step process for the NSX, there should be, in fact, nowhere any bare aluminum. Not even within all cavities …

Sure, you have to be very very careful (max. until the chromate-coat layer!) with such a bath as shown in the YT-videos above. But it could work to get rid of the old clear coat+paint at least – including all the stubborn dirt and „fishy smell“, of course.

Anyway, I wonder what the guy in the video (Trevor Malloy) has to say in such a special case (aluminum chassis).

Although I think Nico's NSX is continuously being worked on. I think he missed last year's Mideast Meet with his car out of commission? Unless I'm thinking of someone else? Pretty sure Nico was parting out a lot of stuff.

Some frame damage. Probably from using the front tow hook when it was filled with over 2000 pounds of mud! Going to be a challenge, but as others have said it's all about the clicks and views. I've been watching!

Their YouTube videos could be a lot better. They need to need invest in an editor/content specialist bc their videos are long boring and quality sucks. It’s a tough watch.
Totally agree. The half-hour videos could easily be condensed down to 10 mins (or less). There's only so much silt removal a man can take.

How are they going to get it out of the extrusions? Honda included some plugs, but not all of it is accessible... There has to be at least 100 lbs of silt packed into all the extrusion spaces.
