Orange to be available in 2019

Seems like Acura missed an opportunity for some easy ways to spice up the car and make their customer base feel that they have more control over the design. As it is, they are a bit too limiting on options compared to their competition Mercedes, Audi, and Porsche all do a MUCH better job at allowing you to build your dream rather than be crammed in to pre-built boxes.

- Rather than making all the carbon now gloss, why not making it a customer option to go with matte or gloss?
- why only allow leather in 3 colors and not all 5 colors? (not to mention why are there only 5 interior colors!)
- why only offer red calipers? Is caliper paint so pricey that you can't offer it in all your exterior colors?
- why limit orange calipers to orange cars - what if I want orange calipers on my black car?
- why aren't there color options on the silver colored interior trim?

With price such a sore point for this vehicle, it seems foolhardy to leave low hanging fruit like that on the vine.
 
What color would someone get the Blue interior with? I can only see it going well with Silver or Black. All the other stuff they made standard isn't going to be enough to bump up sales. Is XMSirius going to standard with the ELS? I still can't believe that my car with a $206.5k MSRP didn't have it as part of he package the dealer ordered. I can stream it, but it's a PITA.


I think this is just a temporary "update" for the NSX, it took Honda so many years for this new NSX, probably no major update for couple more years, (type R, type S, T-top whatever .. )

What Honda needs to do now is, win some big races! What made Honda so good in the 80's and 90's was not the NSX ... but they were winning!!!
 
Possibly white. White exterior with blue interior is a very popular/classic Porsche color combination. I think it looks great!

This, for sure. I think that this blue interior with some orchid touches (and stitching) thrown in would have been stunning with a white exterior.
 
I'm still upset they left out AM radio. Not kidding. I want my talk radio without having to touch my phone. The reason Lexus was one of the last to phased out Cassette players is because they know their customers. At that time, some of the middle age and older drivers still wanted Cassettes.

Does that mean demographics of NSX buyers don't care for AM radio?

Back in 2000, when Honda came out with the S2000, it didn't have a clock because the philosophy from Honda was that if one is out enjoying the drive on the S2000, time is unimportant. Well, they changed their mind pretty quickly after they got feedback. 2001 came with a clock.

I read that AM is going digital so the sound quality will be the same as FM digital but with longer range. However, as much as I enjoy listening to AM/FM radio, the industry is moving away from it and it is becoming increasingly difficult in that industry due to declining listeners. With that said, I would welcome it if Honda brought back AM radio. The current head unit is dated and based on the prior gen Accord. The new 2018 Accord head unit is great and should be readily easy to implement on the NSX. I don't care for the RDX touchpad, not that there is room in the center console for that either.

Also, the PR pictures shows a Silver. Can any of you make out that color? It looks too light to be Source Silver and too grey to be Casino. It actually looks like Sebring Silver from 91-93 but it's hard to tell.

Now, I am forced to burn music to memory stick, forced to get spotify / apple music etc .. but then I need to browse for music while driving .. *_* (lets face it, it is much easier to browse from the phone than the vehicle infotainment system .. )

I can officially confirm that neither of the whites has been changed or taken away. The only change to colors is that Thermal Orange Peaerl has Replaced Nord Gray Metallic.

Also for those looking to get the manual seats they are still available as a no cost option in the Ebony Milano Leaether with Alcantara. Sirius XM is also not standard on the car and if want the XM antenna it is a $500 option.

If you use Apple Music you can press and hold the talk button on the steering wheel to activate Siri which then allows you to use voice commands to play an artist, album, song, or playlist. The voice commands through Siri or google assistant for you android users are phenomenal. I rarely touch the infotainment display and I never touch my phone. I almost exclusively use Siri commands to control infotainment.

Upgrades have also been made to the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, including the fitment of upgraded injectors, a new particulate filter, and enhancements to the heat response of the turbocharger."


The former is just magneto shock software/hardware tune. I'm curious what drove the upgraded injectors and what is the specific change to enhance the heat response of the turbo unit. Not that I understand what that last statement means.

I Heart Radio has all the AM radio stations you could ever tune to. and you can do it all from the S. Wheel controls. The display should "echo" your phone selections.

Interesting .. will offer more comfortable ride? I would think much stiffer roll cars and bushing will surely hurt the comfort level ..

The NSX is damn comfortable at quiet mode now, may not be Lexus level but close, more comfortable than Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren, Porsche, even AMG and M products ....

Front Lifting system would be a nice option ...

The new NSX is pretty much custom hand build anyway, and very low volume, Honda/Acura should just make the option list fully customize ... (with some packages)
 
Blue interior only seems to go with the blue exterior paint. I agree that it seems a strategically poor use of funds. I would have thought that offering a variant of a tan interior would have been an obvious decision.

only color change is Nord is gone, replaced by Thermal Orange.

XM is a $700 option. The only audio option. XM adds the shark fin to the roof. Not everyone likes the fin.

Orange goes with blue. its a complimentary color.

Blue with red interior sells well with the TLX A-SPEC. AFASIK, the NSX in Nouvelle with red sells well. Maybe the reverse will sell well too. Personally I wouldn't match red/blue, but thats me. I like it better than saddle though.
 
I will buy one when Lime Green available. Hopefully Honda can replace all those stainless steel with carbon fiber, even with a steep price.

Orchid is basically the new version of Ivory. Tan is pretty different from Ivory.

Here is the percentage chart for the NSX1 interior U.S. Sales figures from the Prime Wiki:

Black - 6529 cars (73%)
Tan - 1094 cars (12.2%)
Ivory/White - 1074 cars (12%)

Blue - 33 cars (0.4%)

With Blue being such a huge sales hit last time around (*sarcasm*) - why would you introduce it again rather than a color that has a clear market demand? I believe that the Ivory number is only so high because there wasn't a proper tan option until 1994. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of the novelty colors (red, blue, orange, etc) but it pains me when Acura makes such poor marketing decisions with regards to the simple things.
 
I think the Orange Pearl exterior will match great with black interior + Orange stitching ... they should so it ..

Again, the roll bars and software updated sound more interesting ..

When I got new seat covers for my NA1, I got black with double stitched red to match the exterior and it looked great. Unfortunately I don't see it happening with the NC1. I also don't think people would want to pay for it in the NSX unlike a 911 or 488.

*nod* it is a tough position for Acura. Their competition has other luxury cars that can bear the brunt of various high end interior configurations, so you can personalize your Porsche or Mercedes to a much wider degree and this gives those cars a serious advantage.

But some folks would be ok with paying to get the spec they want.

Cripey, look at the stuff Ferrari, Lambo and Porsche (woodwork, yes thanks Porsche) will do for you if you agree to fork it over.

Acura didn't even match the sticking color on the dash (unless you got orchid or black interiors) to the rest of the stitching.

Just offer choices and see what the take rate is. But alas, no such luck from Continental tire Turd.

I agree completely. Especially since Acura bragged incessantly pre-release about the "bespoke" nature of the car. Now we know that was empty, Millennial marketing-speak. I have to think that right now, with the production line slowed to a crawl, it actually wouldn't cost them a cent to customize each build because they really are being hand-assembled slowly as it is. Of course they could upcharge for custom colors or more expensive materials, but I can see no reason why a customer should not be able to choose any exterior/interior/stitching/accent piece combination they want.

If the car stickered at $100k I could understand the limitations. But they are asking "bespoke" prices without delivering the fully customized ownership experience that implies. And I know it's far from the only ingredient in this messy soup, but here we are with 3 sold per month...
 
I just can't believe all of this self induced hype about the release of the 2019 Acura NSX...... What a bunch of bullshit. In the wake of 3 sales last month and the continued negativity surrounding the car, Honda's answer is an orange paint job, blue seats, and some stiffer sway bars? REALLY?????? Are these people idiots? That conservative??? Who are these updates aimed at? Do you think that someone with $160k to spend is going to say "WOW, stiffer sway bars, I now have to have one....."? Absolutely absurd. So, it goes 2 seconds faster around Suzuka. That might be great if you live 2 miles from Suzuka, but for 99.5% of the people who will buy an NSX, it means nothing, as very few will EVER drive the car close enough to it's limits to actually feel the difference.......

This is their 3rd offering of the NSX, and they could have done so much to improve the car with so little investment, but yet again, they have failed IMO. How difficult or expensive could it have been to do an ECU tune that could have produced 27 more HP from the ICE?????? And maybe even a simple upgrade in the electric motors and battery. They could have easily reached the 600HP threshold, and even reached the low to mid 600HP range....... That would have grabbed some attention.
I was fortunate enough to have had the circumstances to have bought one, and to me, the car is spectacular, maybe not perfect, but still spectacular IMO. 573 HP is perfectly adequate for my needs, especially for what I paid for the car. I still feel like it is a performance bargain.

It is just sad to see Honda drop the ball over and over again...... So, now we wait another year to see what they will do? I don't know much about the Gen 1 cars, but looking at their past sales history, Honda appeared to be happy to produce a limited number of the cars? I also wonder if V6 ever evolved over time.....??

Anyway, I love my car, but sure disappointed in Honda's idea of improving the car........ You just wonder how long they will produce it without more than 3 sales per month?
 
It's strange McLaren/Audi/Lambo/Ferrari all can have the ECU tunes but in 2.5 years nobody in the aftermarket has been able to come up/crack ECU with any sizable gains:confused:

Yep. I am perfectly happy not having multiple choices for personalization, but most in this segment want the ability to customize from the factory. It’s a problem that Acura has because their next highest priced car is the RLX Hybrid. Acura just doesn’t have a grasp on how to cater to the people able to spend $150k+.
