I am with you. The $1000 checkup for the track pisses me off. That is insane. WTF can they do that is worth $1000? Maybe $100 would be OK to keep the warranty.
Likely the $1,000 fee will go away when everyone complains.
Moving on, I keep looking at this car, and it just reminds me of a mangled 350z with a stronger engine. Everyone else seems to love it, but for $70 to $80K, I don't see the fuss. Why not buy a used Porsche? Because everyone already has one? Well, at least they don't look like cheaply modified 350's.
For those of you who like them, no offense intended, just my .02.

It's really, really fast, that's why. What used porsche is supposed to compete with this car? I realize there is much more to it than that, but if you are buying it for the performance to dollar ratio, the GTR is difficult to beat.
I guess 'perception' is different among different people.
The GTR is quite a bit different from the 350 in every regards - chassis, drivetrain, suspension, etc... To say it's just a hopped up 350 is grossly ignorant.
I don't think its faster than a 911Turbo (without driving the gtr yet), but the comparisons were only done between an automatic 911 turbo with continental run-flat tires to the GTR with nearly R-compound tires.
Anyway, I like the GTR, for the price its a pretty good deal if you're not into Z06s and is quite a bit faster than a 911 Carrera.

It would be hard to think anyone would get one for MSRP. NSX sold for over 40k+ over MSRP when it came out.
Of course if the dealership promised him, they should make good on their word.

iForged has already made two different kinds. I don't see how Nissan can control who makes aftermarket wheels. The article just says Nissan "didn't even want to see aftermarket wheels on any of the GT-Rs at the show."

I didn't say their control arms look similar. Your reading comprehension is ignorant. Very simple, their bodies look too similar.
All of the GTR's at the show had to be driven in on the stock wheels, then jacked up and had the wheels switched out. The cars still cannot be driven with aftermarket wheels due to a tire pressure sensor problem.
"Nissan has announced that it will begin selling a hotter V-Spec version of its GT-R supercar to market by the end of this year. The new range-topping model will receive upgrades in power and aerodynamics to help the car go toe-to-toe with the Porsche 911 GT2 and GT3.
Underhood, the GT-R V-Spec's turbocharged mill will see an increase in boost, raising output to 550 horsepower — up from the standard GT-R's 480 horsepower. In addition to the power boost, the V-Spec will also shed 150 kg.

If they can sell it for 95k I see no reason why they shouldn't as long as it's legal.
We all knew this car was going to cost 90k+ when it first came out as soon as we got the performance figures and production numbers.

I agree 100%. Nobody is going to make anyone buy this car, so if people want to pay markup on it, let them.
dealer around my house is selling 10, 1 spot left on waiting list, 1000$ deposit ensures spot, 5 k over sticker.
If the car is going for 90K+ then the MSRP should be 90k+. Dealerships aren't auctions, they're retail stores. And though I have no problem with anyone earning a dollar, the use of the "market adjustment factor," IMHO, borders on the unethical. Ambiguous pricing b/t hundreds of retail stores is poor business planning, erodes consumer confidence, and perpetuates a negative stereotype.

After seeing this car in person I must say it's VERY sharp! As they say "Pictures do not do it justice"...... and edmunds.com just tested this car 0-60 in 3.3 seconds. I don't know any car other than the McLaren off the top of my head that can beat that... well maybe the Enzo 0-60 3.28 sec! But thats just a fraction of a second! At that point its just a matter of the driver I think...

I called one of the dealers here to see about putting a deposit down on a GTR. They told me I was 60th in line and that they were only getting 3. Don't like my odds. *lol* I think this is a car that most will have to wait a couple of years to pick up on the used market.
All the restrictions seem to be an evolution of the 180kmh speed limit. As technology gets better, the restrictions will get tighter. The aftermarket companies/enthusiasts eventually find ways around it.:smile: Waiting to see some wide body versions.:biggrin:
