Power antenna motor

Hello,my power Antenna is probably burning up!Doesnt work anymore,BUT makes a horrible sound now/then. Should I remove the fuse to the motor?I want to keep from catching on fire(Like my moms old FC RX-7 YEARS ago!Just replacing would be the easiest,BUT not looking to spend a lot of dough!Suggestions?I NEVER listen to radio!CD's only

if it's making noise and the mast isn't going up and down, the plastic tailpiece inside is broken which is common on these cars. it's still available from acura and not expensive. takes about 30 minutes to replace and costs about $80
