Where's the bottom

I've been talking to three different dealerships, trying to get a deal done this month, and I may have to cast the net even wider. My ask is pretty consistent with all three, but their responses have been highly variable. Can I get some feedback on this approach?

1. There's a sticker price that we start from, obviously
2. There's some percentage that I am asking for off of sticker
3. If it's an exposure car, there's $2k per week that it was "exposed"
4. Finally, there's the $30k for financing with Acura/Honda, which comes off like a down payment since you still pay tax on the price before the $30k gets applied

On #2 , what's the target percentage on a base car? 8%, 10%? On a $200k car? 12%, 14%?

On #3 , is there a way to find out how many weeks ago the dealership officially told Acura "OK, it's an exposure car, start paying us"? Is there a max number of weeks Acura would pay for under this program?

Finally, for the cars with low VINs/cars that I can tell have been at the dealership for a while, is there any rebate/kick back from Acura that would cause the dealership to discount it more?

Thanks!

Worst car in the world to try and flip....................unless you want to put it in your garage and wait maybe 20 years LOL

I agree...In fact, I find it odd that there are numerous sellers on eBay trying to sell used units for more than what you can buy an equivalent new one for. These must be the first wave of cars that were sold at MSRP+ and were traded in at high values, and now the sellers are stuck trying to sell them for high prices. That, or they're trying to sell to the un-informed and make big $$.

Hopefully, prices can appreciate in the very long term.

The dealer that I got my NSX from said the 30k incentive goes till March 31st 2018. They even showed me the letter they received from Acura with that end date on it. I wanted to wait till March to get my NSX (which is when the lease on my current car ends), but I ended up getting the NSX last week because someone else was going to pick it up if I didn't. In the end I decided to suck it up and have two car payments for 3 months in order to save over $43k on the NSX now.

I was told by a dealer who has sold more than 10 NSX he was 90% sure deal was going to end Nov 30th. So perhaps the info you have makes more sense since dealers with the 200k msrp cars aren't actively taking offers for 140k as to be stuck.
Sweet spot on the car is 120-140. IMO
Both are correct. Confused? So is acura.

Cars with a Oct/Nov/Dec build date have until March to use the $30k. All cars built prior, have until Nov 30.

thanks~ Leave it to Acura to make things complex :(

To top off and make it even more confusing...I just acquired a car with build number in the 600s and they told me they have until the end of december to use the credit and that they couldnt even sell me the car til dec 1 due to new credit allocation coming in from acura. This credit thing they got going on is so damn confusing.

Been in HK for nearly a week now and seen just about every exotic here except, you guessed it, the NSX (new gen or old gen)!

No one buys a Honda to flip. The car's value will only become apparent if they prove to be reliable and that will take some time. Same thing happened with first gen, once people realize that they can get a smooth mid-engined supercar that will start every day then the car's value will become apparent.

Not, you do have speculators as stupid as that sounds  . Wonderful NSX in Orange County, CA Source Silver/ Red all boxes checked, I believe MSRP/ Window is $201000 w 25 miles, seller bought to flip and the car has been for sale 5 mths +. I offered $160000 3 mths ago and was laughed at and told seller would wait for the winter months  before letting it go for that (lucky me  )....JM2C...I could be wrong

they're probably waiting for a better offer. they lied to you twice.

1) money ends in nov or march, not december
2) no new incentives are coming in december. best case scenario is acura extends the nov expiration date for the older build dates.

In for month ending sales November....

Congrats!! What other car did you lease if you don't mind sharing? Always interesting to see what cars people are coming from.

Wow, November sales were very nice....JM2C..I could be wrong

I'm a big viper fan. I second this request. Here is my old one. I really wanted an Acr but prices firmed up so fast on the vipers in 16/17 it became nuts.

You post J2MC on nearly every post lmao.

Would love to see pictures of your ACR and NSX!

Ask and you shall receive, my wife and I checked every box as part of the Dodge GTC 1 of 1 program. As part of the 1 of 1 program we would get weekly updates on the build.

Thanks for asking, I absolutely love the Viper. I have had every Gen since 94, there is nothing quite like them (been to the dark side a couple of times and always came back to raw American Horsepower...hehehe)

Like the plate. Its great spec car. Seems like you have a thing for silver.

What will most other cars see...hahaha, Thank you, Yes I do have a "thing" for Silver, it's the only color that shows all body lines, curves and also low maintenance  compared to black, red, blue etc. etc. (BTDT)...JM2C...I could be wrong..hehehe...

Beautiful ride Space Truckin! Love the color combo! :). That sucker must be fast! How's the interior seats and sound level for longer road trips +2 hours?

Anyone here have Source Silver parked next to Casino white? We really wanted Casino white but found a Source Silver that might work....in general we feel silver is too sedate by itself for an exotic car.

Cramped and claustrophobic, it is after all a race car...hehehe

Drove a latest gen Viper once......forward eye-line vision was in conflict with the roof headliner - I'm 6'0.

Brutal power, but memories of a '67 Royal Bobcat GTO w/4:33's & '69 Yenko Chevelle were more inspiring.

It’s interesting to see owners with a viper and an nsx. Two cars that are so different. That’s really cool to see [emoji41]

Just logged in and had a PM from 2013, so guess it's been a while since I've been on here.

I've been watching the 991.1 GT3 and Mercedes SLS "markets" as I've been going back and forth on the two. Now that the NSX's have dropped so much from MSRP, am interested in them too. My observation is that most private sellers are selling for more than a new one and most dealerships have high MSRP cars left which makes the $30k incentive and anything on top of that still more expensive than I want to spend.

In NV, we don't pay sales tax on private party cars so it's much more enticing to find someone that knows what the value is vs what they wish the value was. I'm a few months away from having the garage space to want to buy, but it's fun to look in the meantime. It reminds me of the Z06 I had in January and the GM incentives being offered on 2017s that made all the previous MY prices come down even though sellers didn't want to react to it.

You are absolutely correct

Viper is in your face raw & visceral

NSX is stealthy silent & woohoo...JM2C..I could be wrong..

What we've seen in past years of ownership on different sites:

IS-F + NSX owners

IS-F + GTR owners

NSX + GTR owners

NSX + Huracan owners

NSX + s2000 owners

R8 + GTR owners

NSX + R8 owners

Here are a few pictures for you! It's one of the more common questions I have gotten about the car. In certain lighting you can not distinguish the difference between the two colors while other time they will look very different.

First is the sample of Source Silver next to a Casino White car.

Source Silver is the left and Casino White on the right

Also included a picture of all the color samples side by side for good measure
