Do we have any stereo nuts on here.Im working on a set of full range driver speakers.Then its going to be a tube amp kit next.I have built all the speakers so far in my system and they really sound good.You get alot for your $ when you build it.

I'm the founder of www.audiokarma.org , many moons ago......

My systems are modest now compared to the McIntosh rack I once had, but in the living room, I've got a Carver 6250 hooked to Paradigm Titans, and I'm formulating my basement "home theater" with Altec A7 "Voice of the Theatre" speakers, out of a movie theater in Michigan.

I loves big audio :biggrin:

The only issue with having these speakers in a room that measures about 15 x 20 is that the soundstage blows way past you, and ends up somewhere in the middle of the street in front of your house :wink:

At one time, I had a pair of A7's hooked to a McIntosh MC2105 amp. The speakers being in the neighborhood of 108 dB efficient, the amp basically was idling.....but I've never heard anything blend the horns and LF drivers so seamlessly.

Can't beat horns and tubes, though......I have many fond memories of playing Miles Davis KOB, and having the sax riffs just send chills up my spine.....

I decided to try a combination critical listening and HT setup as I spend all of my time in out great-room. It was tough to get it right with a 65" P-elite in the middle, but it is possible:
Mac C200/Mac MX 135/Marantz S11/Marantz 8400/Classe 350 monoblocks/ Classe 500 HT amp/Paridign S8's w/surrounds/2-sig 15" subs/wireworld gold/ lots of tube traps and absorbers. The s8's have got to be the bang for the buck speakers. They are brutally transparent. Thats why i went with Mac instead off the Levinson kit I had, although they are very similar, just a little less edgy for the metal tweets. The detail is off the charts. It's all connected in passthru so I can listen 2 chan thru the C200 or do DVD's, TV, whatever thru the MX-135 full surround. Most importantly I can use the tone controls on the 135 to compensate for all the poor quality stuff(music & movies). It's kind of unfortunate, but I've found I'm playing DVD concerts more than high end 2 channel even though the sonics are not quite there (ouch-did I just lose my audiophile card?). I was never a Mac fan, but the ergonomics and reliability are top notch as well as being a great match for the S8's. The discontinued C200 is one fantastic piece. I blacked out all the Mac stuff so they didn't look like leftover nuclear control room components.

My Martin Logans are on the way! I should be getting them the first week of February. My amplification is Parasound and Hafler and my subs are 2 Velodynes. AudioQuest cabling for the audio side and monoprice for the HDMI. I'm so excited!

For high-end tube amplifiers, Canary Audio it is. http://www.canaryaudio.com I used to have CA-309 300B Mono Block Amplifier and I'm lucky enough recently upgraded to their flagship Reference One with eight Western Electric 300B on each channel. They do not sell Reference One anymore since Western Electric bought their design and have Canary made it in their brand name that sell twice more in price. :wink:

For speaker, I use Coincident's Victory. It matches very well with my tube amplifier.

Carver A220 amps mono blocked per channel, with server fans between each one, Klipsh KLF 30's front, KLF 20's rear, C-7 center, KSW 15 sub, Fosgate preamp. BOOM!!

It's all fo sale BTW as I am going with a simpler set up after I move. Just one great receiver and Martain logan speakers that a a bit smaller than what I have now. It's going to suck as I know the sound quality will reduce but I am going for the less is more look.

Oh well - like steve said - I am getting a bit too old to hear it loud. I just want it to sound crisp and clean.

Isn't that wierd how that happens? I would have never thought I wouldn't want to hear anything unless it was cranked. I have not listened to music in at least 2 years where I use to at least 3-4 times a month. Now I understand why my mother bitched when I would crank it up. It is just down right annoying at high levels when you are older no matter how good it sounds.

I think the speakers would be pretty costly to ship as they are VERY heavy but I could probably have someone crate them up. What are you most interested in?

Still running HT setup at home, thinking of going to Audio Research 2 channel setup, but with the economy going south, I guess that'll have to wait.

The Audiophile market collapsed in the early 90ies in Europe during the recession. You still can find shops but it's not the same as in the 80ies. I have a Harman/Kardon equipement since then which is near to audiophile and which was the highest I could afford back in the days. My interests changed somewhat since then. It was a good time. I still have a Luxman PD300 vacuum turntable in the garage.
