Fuel door will not stay closed

I removed my side intake vents to repair some rock chips and as I was reinstalling my DF air intake scoop I accidentally pulled loose the fuel door release cable. I can't quite figure out how to reinstall it. It looks like I might have broken the small rubber gasket/grommet that hods it in place. Now my fuel door will not stay closed.

I can add pics when I get back home.

Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: to be more specific, I cannot get the end that releases the door to stay mounted inside the cavity next to the gas cap.

The cable plastic end has a pair of tangs, 180 degrees apart, that fit into the plastic internal housing. The cable goes in and twists to lock it into the housing. Sounds like Brian can handle it for you;).
