Honda please wake the f*ck up!

The saleen raptor also looks like an evolved version of the NSX. The tail lights have similar lines, and the front bumper looks similar to the 02+.

Yep, I had a chance to talk to the owner of "Naples Motorsports" and he told me that he had a chance to go to the Saleen presentation of this car, his comments: "the Raptor is 100 times better in real life, gorgeous gorgeous ..."

I think it is pretty much obvious that if you want to current day supercar, you have to abandon Honda. They abandoned us. Only fair.

Yea, I know. I want an NSXish car. I've been really watching those R8 prices. Once that V10 comes out they are going to be in the $80k range. I am soooooooo tempted.
 
this whole weekend I was SICK .. on bed for 3-4 days .... i saw like 300 insight commercials ... lots of Fru-Fru colors with lots of post industrial hippies wannabes driving those little cute hybrid affordable HONDAS .... that made me realize how WAY green Honda is now .... and how WAY OFF we are of reality thinking than there's hope ... yep, it's time to move on ... as I said B4:

The Cayman and the R8 are great, but they don't remind me the NSX, now, the 2 below scream NSX

I'm with Oscar Driver on the P11. That will be a supercar worth saving for in order to be very much NSX like.

However, I've driven an R8 and loved it. Its probably the best mid-engine car out there...I love it to pieces. Just wish I could afford one. Maybe if I save and save and save and save....or I could just get another NSX. The later of course...:biggrin:
 
I just can't get over how much all these new supercars look like the HSC. And to think we all criticized the design at the time!

I don't think that it was that the HSC was that bad-looking but that we thought Honda could do so much better. We had really high expectations of Honda--so much confidence that they could strike gold twice and have the NSX successor be as great or greater than the original NSX.

I remember that the real gripe was really to do with the powerplant and much less about the looks.

I find it hard to believe that if we thought Honda could do it that Honda couldn't do it. I will say that Honda was caught about a year too late and with the new F430 looming I think they were a little scared off but Honda put themselves in that position over a long period of time.

I don't believe Honda was ever really in a position to produce an HSC that would have been successful even though I do believe it would have been if done right and released no later than 2003 but that ability started to wane just before Soichiro died. Honda essentially abandoned the NSX from 1993 onwards and the S2000 was something they had already committed to and was more in line with the "new" direction of Honda anyway. There wasn't going to be forced induction or a V-8 and there was far less interest in racing and performance. Honda began to commit to the "green" approach. Fukui is about as conservative as it gets and by all accounts has no interest in racing or performance. The HSC was essentially an afterthought from day one and would not have been successful if identical to the HSC concept and released in 2004 or 2005.

Would the HSC as introduced by Honda or even the true NSX-successor HSC be successful now? Possibly. But as others have noted Honda is headed in the opposite direction for the forseeable future. The chances of a revival of the ASCC, HSC, NSX or even a newly-designed HSC are effectively nil. :frown:

Nice write-up by Honcho. While planning the Irvine Cars & Coffee event on January 31, I attempted to contact American Honda Motor Company and Acura North America. Two of my attempts were successful with Acura. I also managed to get the corporate email addresses of key Honda executives.

Just for fun, I will forward some comments (the ones without expletives) from this thread to the Honda and Acura executives. If nothing else, it may amount to one more grain of salt added to the next generation Honda supercar bid, assuming there is one. :cool:

Apparently it goes 1/4 in 12.5 via Road and Track's claim. Quite surprised by the specs coming from Lotus considering the heavier weight 3000ish and only 280 hp. It literally is a modern day NSX under the guise of a production kit car, but somehow the Toyota engine delivers better performance and efficiency at only 7200 RPM. Apparently, it's the not like the Lotuses that are currently out.

The video illustrate how beautiful and similar the Evora's body proportions is to an NSX. The Evora looks very beautiful from all angles. Even the rear spoiler and deck is reminiscient of the NSX if you look closely. Better than a Cayman S apparently. I'm impressed. This may very well be my next DD in the future, to add to the stable along with the NSX. They compliment each other quite well, you have the classic/timeless and the modern/fresh. Supercharged version soon? lol

Not being a Porsche Fan Boy, but why would you buy a more expensive, less powerful, heavier, slower, less reliable Evora over the already proven Cayman?

Sound like a fanboy to me? Besides the Porsche Badge and finish (and sure the Cayman is ~100 lbs lighter)? The Evora looks better, is lower/leaner and more exotic looking. The Cayman looks like another Porsche. The Evora has rear seats for kids, family friendly and/or just more cargo space. The Cayman S can do low 13s, this Evora has been clocked doing mid 12s (best believe there will be a higher scale Evora that will be faster/better). The Toyota engine is just as reliable if not more reliable than the Porsche engine. What has the Cayman proved? That it can sell? Hyundai sells pretty will these days too. Porsche is overated IMO, it's on a pedestal made of fat, tastes good and potent, but not very good looking or refreshing.
