Thoughts everyone:

I was browsing thru San Antonio Craigslist last week and came across a 91 NSX with 58,000 miles for 11,000. The owner left a phone number with the ad, but said he wasn't going to be able to meet until tonight.

I figured it was a scam and shot him a text for Sh1ts and giggles. Never heard back from him. (The ad didn't show a picture, so I asked for a picture.)

I had a phone call from my friend today saying his friend was meeting the owner to look at the car. I got in touch with the potential buyer and met him at a storage unit.

Well sure enough, There it sat under bags of clothes and mattresses stacked 4 high. Looks to be in pretty decent shape, minus the dirt build up on it from sitting for 6-7 months. So, I want to hear everyones thoughts. Is it a great deal or not.

91 NSX w/ 58k miles, 19 inch rear and 18 inch front black mesh design wheel, sub enclosure in foot compartment, and auto transmission

Thoughts?

Not enough info. Does it even run? Why has it been sitting in a storage unit under a bunch of stuff? Does it have a clean title? Service records? Why so cheap? You catch my drift...Too many unclear variables that need to be defined before your question can be answered.

its a good deal regardless as far as i can tell. 91 with 58k? salvage or not. running or not. thats a smoking deal.

even if the engine is bad, it could be replaced and youd still be well under book value.

maybe the miles arent original...STILL cheap even if it has over 100k.

good find.

I guess I should clarify a little.. Car was in storage here in San Antonio and the owner moved to Alaska, he just flew in to town today and sold the car. Car started up and drove fine. Everything seems to work. Will post later. Clean title

so he flew in and sold the car, to who? you didnt say.

did you purchase the car?

If its drivable and hasnt have too much extensive damage i would buy =D

A friend of a friend... I tried to buy it, but never heard anything back.

I know this is a great deal, I guess I just wish I would have caught this deal a couple days prior. Deals like this don't come around to often..

$11,000 is nothing... a spit in the wind in a rainstorm when it comes to this car, big mistake you missed out on this, even if it didn't run, as long as the body looked anywhere decent, you should have jumped on that big time.....

oops. ya missed out dude

as the saying goes:

buy once, cry later

it's worth $11,000 with an empty engine bay
significantly more since there was a running engine in it

...btw, who's NSX is in the right side of that picture?

I suppose this deal is possible, but unless I witnessed the actual sale, I would still be suspect. The car may exist, but does the guy selling it have the right to do so? Is it properly titled? The whole thing could still have been a scam.

But it is interesting that some of the price guides list 91 NSXs at a trade in value of $10,000-$12,000. So someone who knows nothing about an NSX could conceivably consult some used car price guide and then assume that $11,000 is a fair price for a used NSx.

Not passing my sniff test. Owner moved from San antonio to Alaska? Owner saves mattresses and stores mattresses despite moving to alaska? Owner comes back to sell car? Car starts right up after sitting 6-7 months?

i actually spoke to the seller, he called me back around midnight central time Saturday night from Alaska. He told me it ran and everything works, it's an auto and was salvage due to theft......he seemed legit, i'm probably and idiot for passing it up.

Not passing my sniff test.

And Bob doesn't F*%K around with his sniff tests:

Something still isn't right.....

Does it have a title?

Was it stolen and stuffed into a storage locker until the dust settled?

Remember if it is too good to be true, it probably is!

He could have listed it and sold it for 20k all day and night....I am with Bob with this!

My car started right up after sitting for a year. Its not impossible.

+1

Who keeps an NSX under old mattresses and junk?
