Why not buy an NSX with SC installed?

I would get a SC over stock.

All the SC owners i have seen and worked on their cars have total commitment for their NSX.

To put in 12000$ in a SC setup then abuse the car is not what these owners are about.

I would buy a nsx with SC with out any hesistation.

don't know what to tell you..but I have been supercharged since 2003, and am on the original stock clutch at 52k miles. I've have never, no not even once, "popped" the clutch. And I do know a guy locally who has a mildly modded nsx that beats the ever living crap out of his car.. ruined a clutch in under a month....

I take my car into the service guy and literally tell him "You find something that needs fixing, fix it. You see something wearing out, replace it." If i get a door ding, it gets fixed. A scratch gets repainted as necessary.

So the theory is a complete load of shit. Whoever gets my car if I ever sell it is one lucky dude. Despite the SC.

Wow! Someone posts a question "why not buy an NSX with SC installed" and I misunderstood it to mean he was asking for opinions from NSX owners and potential buyers. I put up my opinion and it turns into a theory that is full of s#*t. Last I checked, people buy cars based on opinions. For instance, I bought an NSX because it was my opinion to be the dream car I always wanted (not a theory). That opinion too might also be a load of s#*t but I acted upon it just the same and so far it's been a fun (and trouble free) ride.

i've sc'd both of my nsx's, have never popped the clutch from a dead stop and don't "drag the streets on friday nights". i'd like to think i take reasonably good care of my nsx and i'm betting most other FI owners do, too.

were i buying an nsx, i'd be very interested in "the usual" details (equipment / miles / obvious condition) as well as how the owner used and maintained, their car.
 
Comptech Supercharger is a proven, reliable SC system. It runs low boost, needs no tuning, and passes smog. It is also CARB certified. A few years ago you could order it through your Acura dealer with no change in warranty.

I have a CTSC on my car, and I never pop my clutch and never abuse the car. I don't power shift, I let it warm up eveytime and maintenance is 100% on the car. It was installed by an NSX shop whose owner was a ten year veteran, an NSX owner and the head mechanic at an Acura dealer.

It does not need "tuning", because that is how the Comptech kit comes. It is a true bolt-on.

My compression readings are 100%, and my car is garaged winters and in showroom condition.

Anyone that tells you not to buy a car like mine is making nothing but assupmtions. There is no reason why a car with a Comptech supercharger cannot be in BETTER shape than a "stock" one depending on maintenance and how it was driven. The logic that because you have an SC you somehow are abusive to the car is flawed. I have $115K into the NSX and two other cars. The NSX gets babied.

I don't know why you should NOT buy a Comptech Supercharged NSX if the engine checks out healthy through compression and leakdown tests. If you aren't going to do those tests then you are taking a risk with any NSX.

I have a 91 automatic....and just bought a 1992 NSX, with comptech sc and all related materials...List Too LONG to LIST (NON Prime Doctor going through a divorce).....

Leakdown, Comp Test....Dyno, Talked With the Mechanic at Acura who installed and maintained...

I was very impressed....WOW...What a bid Dif .

My Brother owns a HiFi shop so the automatic will be used as a show car and the new sc as a weekend driver...If i ever find the time....

I have your 2000, bought(from another party) with a CTSC, and a few other mods. It runs like a pissed off sewing machine! :biggrin:

I don't 'baby' my car, I do attend track days and have taken her on a few high speed runs late at night (OMFG! There went my resale value!!! :eek:). I am however, extremely anal about maintenance; early oil changes are the standard, a compression check, SC belt tension check, even checking fuses and relays for dirt/grime buildup, etc, are common. The engine compartment of my car is just as detailed as the exterior (heck even my 'unusable' spare gets tire shine when I wash her!!!).

Does my car get 'used' occasionally? Yes!
Would I buy the car from me? Undoubtedly so!
Would a show car owning garage queen guy buy it? Maybe, maybe not. Whether it's because of the couple of rock chips(hey I driver her every chance I get!!!) or the scratched up stock wheels(the car came with an 18/19 combo that literally made it un-drivable. Seriously, 18/19s..... :frown:), but I doubt it would be due to concerns over the meticulously maintained CTSC and engine!

Same reason why some/many(none?) people don't like to date pornstars. There may be the view that they are 'worn out' in some way. :biggrin:

Give me a porn star over a hot highschool girl any day of the week! Porn stars know what to do with it while most other chicks are just guessing... :wink:

That has nothing to do with FI or not:smile:. It is driver's driving habit. If driver is into that kind of stuff, he/she will do the same with NA or FI NSX.

In my opinion the drivers with non-FI cars are more likely to dump the clutch at the light or try harder to obtain the sensation of speed.

I personally never dump clutch on NSX. On a RWD/MR car, that can actually achieve opposite effect of what the driver intended to do with street tires. Dumping the clutch is in my opinion better suited for FI AWD with small displacement four cylinder motor.

Pulling hard from stop light only require minimum effort for stock or FI nsx. It is a performance car, it can get off the line really quick without effort.

It is so easy that, sometimes people get a misconception that you are trying when you are just driving slower than normally and barely giving a little gas. Same concept as someone who can slam dunk from free throw line with 100%effort and slam dunking from closer distance is like routine lay up. Yet, someone might think he is trying too hard while he use virtually no effort to dunk at closer distance.

How a car takes off at the line can be deceptive, the more power/torque it got down low the more deceptive it gets. I can go 10% throttle and shift at 2500rpm in my beater and people will think I am racing.
