According to my local dealership, ordering will commence February 25 with a couple months lead time. Sounds like it's first come first served at the dealership that day. They indicated their allocation for the year is six cars due to their (self proclaimed) status as one of the highest volume dealerships in the Western area.

I would be curious if they are going to go to the deposit-placers first. I would hope so. Then, I would be curious if said deposit holders would be interested in making $10-30K to allow someone else to step into their shoes...I can think of two high profile celebrities that would love to get their hands on one of the first ones.

The reality is there are more Acura dealers than available cars. If your dealer told you they will get or have already sold more than two, they are lying. Numbers expected are 200-800 cars for 2017.
The good news is, they are custom build, meaning without an order, Acura probably won't build a car. Good news for Acura, not good news for buyers. Acura will create a demand that matches the supply of cars. Don't think you will be able to go to a dealer and buy one off the lot. There will be none of that.

My understanding is on Feb 25 th you can go online to the Acura configurator and spec out an NSX.
This can be saved and sent to your dealer.
Then the dealer will set up an appointment for you to come in, confirm the order, and place a 25% deposit.
When the deposit is received, the Acura dealer will send the confirmed order to the factory.
I also understand most dealers will be sending confirmed orders to Honda based on the order of their wait list.
There won't be any NSX's made on spec by Honda although I suppose there will be some orders cancelled after the car is made.

I have heard from the dealer here that they(Acura) might have "Spec" cars later in the year that might be for leasing? Anyone else hear this?

Highly unlikely, given the wait lists at dealers already. Once demand dies down, that may be possible.

My source says Honda's intent is for all NSX's to be built to order for a customer with no "spec" cars.

I don't know if a dealer can order for themselves then turn around and offer it as a "spec" car on the showroom floor.
Nor does made to order stop a buyer from trying to flip a car once it's in hand.

I know Honda is very concerned about supply management and is planning to manage things carefully to avoid unsold inventory and discounting.
I've been told they learned on the first generation that exclusivity is a large part of the appeal in this market segment.
The first generation came out with dealer surcharges, followed by over production, then dealer discounting.

As Olyar15 suggests once initial demand is filled, no one knows what will transpire then.

I'd expect we'll know in by late March how well the car has been subscribed.

Still sort of bothered that options packages are basically Carbon Fiber yes/no.

Seems like options could include things like stereo delete, track package, exhaust, etc, etc. Also - what's with navigation being an "option"?

Am I the only who thinks if the price was like $50k lower (fully optioned) that this car might sell like hotcakes? AT least amongst people in Prime. It will probably still get sold out due to limited production/novelty factor in the first year.

I really hate how everything is an option. I like the original NSX configuration because, IIRC there weren't many options at all.

I prefer Nav being an option. something I would never get on a new car if the Nav delete was available is Navigation. Proprietary system that either cannot be updated or costs $$ to do so. no thanks. very good phone integration is more important in my view.

Got mine configured for $179,414. About $100k more than I would like to spend. Looks like I'll wait two or three years to buy one after the bottom falls out.

I would seriously consider this car if I could have it fully loaded around 150k..... But for 200k? I dont think many NSX enthusiasts are going to getting this car. I have a feeling the typical buyer is going to be somewhat random, possibly for exclusivity bragging rights. Acura just isn't a brand where people do not hesitate to drop 200k.

Would be cool if companies just allowed you to mirror what was on your phone screen to their bigger nav screen. Still I find that having a map in the dashboard 100% of the time is just darn handy.

Keep in mind that without the Nav option, you also don't get a rear view camera... For Honda to nickle & dime features like that on a premium level car is in my opinion a bad sign.

Mine came to $219,600. LOL

Where is the yellow? The orange? This color choice is weak.

Google Search for Casino White pearl 2017 NSX and it came up as one of the links.

That's interesting. Its like a "beta" site I think because its presence is not being reported anywhere that I can see and Acura doesn't even seem to be referring to it yet.

Its a pretty nice site with some cool pictures and detailed information that makes it sound like its going to be extremely high quality.

on the down side, the specs page seems to be a Xerox copy loaded into the site and they still have the width of the car at 87.3 inches?!?!

So mine came out to $197,600.
