Anyone have this white substance in the intake flexible union just prior to the throttle body?
As you can see, it does wipe off with some force (finger in picture).

Just curious even though I don't think it caused a problem.

Figures.

With my short but bumpy ownership experience so far I thought I had an odd one for sure.

Thanks.

Not 100% sure, but I believe it is a "release agent" used in the mold when they make the boot.

Larry - you are right. As the resident plastics engineer here, i concluded a few years ago it was exactly that, a release agent in the rubber to allow it to be ejected from the mold during manufacturing.

I was actually thinking it was from the rubber "sweating" i've seen it on other hondas too

If you have it to where you can take that picture, I would remove the boot and clean it out. I did. My white stuff was flaking off quite a bit. I can't believe it would show up like that when new, but rather developes over time as the rubber "ages."

Just my .02

Bill
