Window regulator upgrade kits

Thanks guys, lowered the window and got to those last two bolts.

Again thanks to Hugo for making such a great product, for the first time in years I didn't have to help my drivers side window up with my hand , It's working like brand new again.

Passenger side is a little slow but I think I'll take a break before tackling it, even though it will probably only take me about 1/4 of the time it took me to do the drivers side. The bulk of the work is the removal and reinstalling of the regulator.

Solid piece of engineering!

Mine arrived the day of my passenger side window clip "thingie" failing, and the window falling into the into the door (thank goodness it didn't shatter, and a big shoutout to Dali Racing for over-nighting their aluminum parts to me).

After removing the regulator, I discovered that the cable was frayed beyond repair due to the clip failing. So, the McGuyver in me took a cable from my stash of cycling parts (I ride at least 40 miles, daily) and replaced the frayed one with a solid road cycle brake cable, which matched the OEM cable perfectly in width, except for length.

I discovered that I cut the cable 2 inches too short, probably after my fourth beer. This now results in my window to remain 2 inches "up" when fully closed.

I'll correct my mistake this weekend with a new cable, and I'll do a DIY write up for everyone else in the process. The comments from those that have performed this install are correct- I'll summarize; "Do it once- it'll take hours, do it again it'll take 30 minutes". The learning curve is steep, but very achievable. (FYI, if anyone has an NSX near Atlanta, I'm happy to help with your install)

Cudos for a quality piece of engineering, the window works like a champ!

carmar (Nat) : you have PM!

ChadAltlanta : I have a spare cable if you need one, difficulty is to get the cable endings with the correct dimension and shape to fit in the thingy and core parts!

Thanks again for the feedback, I'm glad it works!

I just came from the Post office, kits can actually be followed in the USPS website for a better tracking report instead of the Portuguese one:
http://trkcnfrm1.smi.usps.com/PTSInternetWeb/InterLabelInquiry.do

Until a week ago I used the "Registered Mail" service to send it.
It is supposed to take 5 days according to the Portuguese website, but it usually takes about 10...(even 21days for poor "kennyc" who is still waiting for his package sent the 1st of June - RC429354867PT )

So I decided to try another post service since last week, it is called "Azul Prime" and even if the announced 4 days instead of 5 are not real, it seems in fact much faster than the other one, it took about just 1 week for the last sent packages:smile:
http://www2.ctt.pt/fewcm/wcmservlet...artasedocumentos/enviosurgentes/en/prime.html

Let's time carmar's kit to check how long it takes : LX001688161PT

So kits are now all being sent with "Azul Prime" (First-Class Mail International)!
Even the service name sounds better, I don't know why!:biggrin:

Thank you all
Hugo

Hugo,
I go mine about 5 days after you sent it with the new service.
Now all I have to do is find time to get it done
Thanks....

I just came across this thread, I'm glad to hear a fellow prockchop fixed the most annoying problem in the NSX. I'm going to have to get a few pairs of these for both cars, 2 pairs to fix now and another to store away for a couple years from now.

Viva Portugal!

Can I also add my self to this Group buy and please let me know how much and paypal address to send it to. Thanks

Hugo,

I have a spare regulator and was having a look at that today and playing about with stripping it down and rebuilding it in preparation for the your kit.

One thing I am having a problem with is getting the pre-load on the spring. It will barely reach 1 turn never mind 1 full turn and then 1/2 turn.

Have you any tips? Does the spring have to do 1 full anti clockwise turn and then another half turn? Or am I missing something???

Problem I'm getting is the little curve in the spring that sits in the groove keeps popping out.

Sudesh: rotary springs are side specific!
LEFT regulator rotary spring must be preloaded with a CLOCKWISE 1turn 1/2
RIGHT regulator must be preloaded in opposite direction: ANTICLOCKWISE.

You can use a plier tool to tight the curve of the spring ending or you can also push it with your finger while applying the 540º preload turn to prevent it from popping out.

Thanks for the update!

I'm working on a Right [UK Drivers side]regulator and turning ANTICLOCKWISE, just cant the little bugger to stay in lol

I'll tighten the curve and see how it goes.

Thanks.

PM sent also

Has anyone tried to replace only the pulley while the regulator is still in the car?

I'm not sure that would be possible because of the limited space and having to release the cable. I don't think it would be be any faster than removing the regulator.

If it is not too late, I would like to purchase a complete kit for both the driver and passenger sides. I know you will be in the So Cal area in August so please send your paypal info as soon as possible.
Thank you,
Pablo
