What do you use to clean your suspension to make it so shiny?

$2 bulb replaced by the dealer - $26, getting to the front turn signal bulb through the rear quarter panel - priceless.

Awesome! Thank you very much. :)

you're welcome.i just got over obsessing about a new battery hold-down bracket bc the old one was rusted.we understand.
the other purpose for the dacro is that you can get corrosion where a bolt of a different metal contacts aluminum.

here's another interesting thread which tells what it's made out of:
http://nsxprime.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78528

another example of how much attention to detail honda put into these cars.

I feel you pain. Everytime something should take about 15min. I end up using a couple of days. Because, I can clean this while I'm here Oh, let me take this off to get to this and ..what why are these parts off the car. LOL

Note to self #1: If I want to get my car thoroughly cleaned, I shall ask Mitch to change me a light bulb. Good deal, good deal.

Note to self #2: I'm so not crazy. Good.

did you guys notice the pic of the yellow NSX on his wall he is a stalker LOL

nice job we all wish we had time to take every bolt out and clean it.

all my builds get this kind of attention its fun but man it takes time.

I think the best way to know your car is to take it apart the first day.

I have done this with almost all my cars. I usually strip the car about the 4th day. and put it all back together.
people would say what are doing to your Brand new car. " im putting it back together" they say " didnt you just buy it 3 days ago?" I say yes.

So I just pulled the aluminum battery tray, and it looks beyond polishing. Any ideas how to clean this? Does anyone have a mint condition one that they want to part with? :)

(* To the right you will see the offending turn signal assembly that started this all....and also needs replaced as soon as I can find one available somewhere.)

I replaced mine for that same reason. It rusted again a few months later, so time for another one! :)

I'd probably suggest just to beedblast this part to clean it up. Unless you really wanted it polished.

and/or have it re-anodised. not expensive

Will it look just like factory? I am assuming that I just look up 'anodizers' in the phone book. Are there any other types of specialists that I should look for?

I thought all the pieces (screws, etc.) are coated from the factory for protection.

Try this to clean them:

Great thread.

I'm wondering if the first photo in the post (gorgeous) will look any different from the completed project. Might be able to post this in the weight reduction thread:smile:

Mitch, I applaud your magnificant obsession.

Matt

Mitch

"Not wanting to pay the $26 to change a $2 bulb, I declined and opted to wait until I got home to just change it myself."

You would have saved money if you paid $226 to have the bulb changed!

To show my support, if you bring the finished work to the Colorado NSXPO (September 13-18, 2012,) you can stay at my house. And you don't even have to wash my car.

Mark

impressive!

I guess its proven that im not that crazy. but if I have the time I would do the same as well. since the under body of my NSX was sprayed with some black primer by previous Japanese owner, I want to get them off and let the aluminum shine!

suggest you first try a simple aluminum cleaning / striping fluid like "Blitz" (assuming that's also its trade name in the US of A).

I had my battery tray re-anodised and was very happy with the result. They clean / strip the aluminium first anyway, and then anodise adds a layer of silver / grey coloured aluminum oxide, by same / similar process in the factory. Resulting colour is almost identical, say 99% exactly factory in appearance. Very few would see is as anything other than a good looking alumimum frame in very good / excellent condition.

yes just look up anodisers in the phone book, or type "anodisers near [your suburb / town]" into google

Wow, I'm surprised you don't have the car mounted on a rotisserie machine. The best option to clean the battery mount is to have it sand/bead/shell blasted and then you can decide how to refinish it.
