Kix's LED Taillights

Kix do you warranty your work? If so for how long?

Audax, WE NEED NIGHT SHOTS!

I'm starting to dig these. I think Kix is finally the real deal. We've seen a lot of flops here on Prime and I may actually pull the trigger on Kix's setup.

Thanks for the positive note! Hope you do pull the trigger on one

Moses is right... I wet sanded and polished.

Basically, grab some sand paper in 600, 800, 1000, 1500 and 2000 grit. I masked off some of the surrounding area with painters tape to protect from any slips. Load the 600 grit paper onto a sanding block and rub down the letters. Repeat with the higher grit papers. Finally, I used some fine rubbing compound and then Meguiars Plastx to polish and protect it.

^thank you both for the tips...

here i can get all those sand papers grits, but not the plastic polish to finish the part :frown:

can any of you guys buy it and send it to me? i would be thankfull... i also have some other plastic stuff that needs a refinish..

Thanks,
Nuno

You can order it online cheaply. A quick Google search shows that this guy on ebay ships worldwide: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350214343963#ht_1411wt_939

Sorry Richard... back on topic.... :)

Remind me if the deal goes threw to throw this in the box as well.

Do you mean to source these parts or to provide this service?

On a separate note. I have one kit in "partial stock". This means I have the GTC brake lights all done and the reverse lights as well as the controller finished. All the customer has to let me know is the following:
- Custom turn signal design OR oval 2002+ signals
- Add on switchable full bar

I can also sell this under the ECO line. Details are here: http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145456

Below is a new prototype reverse light compared to the standard kit. It includes 12 additional LED lights (6 per side) for the reverse lamps without compromise in brightness. This will be an option for all orders starting today!

You can use Meguiars #09 Swirl Mark Remover or similar on plastic lenses, works fine.

Back again to give you a few updates. First off, I'm about to wrap up a Bar Lover's kit for a customer and thought I include a few pics.

BarLovers00.jpg

Pictured are two led panels. The one on top is the 5-switchable Bar Lovers kit. The panel on the bottom is the GTC-Full Bar design. The picture to the right shows how the magic is done. I didn't want to count but I think there are close to 1000+ soldered joints on this panel alone.

BarLovers01.jpg

Pictured are the switchable options! Note that I can also make non-switchable panels for a real good price.

Secondly, the Bar Lover design benefited from a recent upgrade I just implemented in my controller design. It allows more power for more brightness. For my previous customers who are interested in a new upgraded controller please PM me for details.

Also, for my customers who are looking into custom designs PM me. Almost anything is possible and with my new controller design. We could technically fill up the enitre NSX tail lamp with blindness inducing, ticket giving, anti-rearending light! Of course, if you dont want to have these perks, you can always adjust the brightness to a more conforming light output.

nxpham,

I can do a sequential design as pictured.

On a separate note. For those who wanted to see a yellow turn signal behind a Red lens I took this pic using a 2002+ turn signal behind a pre 2002 tail light lense

As you can see its still yellow with a bit of orange bleeding around. This will allow you EU and AU owners to have the right turn signal colors while you use these LEDs at your local race track.

Re: AngelCitynsx's light design...

This design seems like it requires the removal of another ridge (indicated by the red oval) between the brakelight and turn signal...
<img src="http://www.vf2ss.com/transfer/taillight/completefill.png" border="0"/>
If that's the case, can the ridge(blue oval) above the turn signal also be removed and have LEDs up in that area in dark red (I've read in other threads this desire epxressed)?

<img src="http://www.vf2ss.com/transfer/taillight/ledfull.png" border="0"/>
parking/brake/signal combo?

how about something like AngelCitynsx's light design:

How did you get LED's all the way across on this? wasn't there a metal bar in the way that splits the two sections? I guess I am asking the same thing VF2ss is asking. Are you able to actually make one large open section on these for LEDs? That would open it up to a lot of different designs.

The NSX tail light insides are all plastic. A simple cut will allow access between the turn signals and brake lamps as well as the upper areas of the tail light.

There is a few things to consider though. The separation between the turn signals and brake lamps exists to reducing the amount of light that bleeds between the two indicator lights. Also, the diffusers are different for the turn signals and brake lamps which will result in a inconsistent light spread.

As for the upper area, there is another different lens which is a reflector. Light will still transmit, but again will have inconsistent light spread.

On a separate note I ran out of supplies and started cutting more boards while I wait for components to arrive the next few days. Hopefully it’ll allow me to catch up with the demand but with all things relative it probably won’t. I also wanted to let you all know that I do stock 2002+ NEW OEM tail lamps and finally got one in a few days ago. This is a great option for those who are looking for 0 downtime combined with my quick delivery. Just imagine having a kit ready for a “plug and play” install the moment its delivered to your doorstep!

Speaking from first hand experience, Richard's kit is the best quality I have seen or worked with. The solder joints on the back are precise with status/test LEDs and extremely clean.

The fittment of the parts inside the tail lamp unit is snug and perfect fitting which ensures consistent results. I'm even impressed by the color matching of the side signal silver backing to the silver inside the OEM tail lights.

The control unit is sturdy and with that unit outside of the light assembly, there are fewer things inside the light assembly that can cause problems. The brightness adjustability allows for a fine tune to match the brightness of OEM light or go wild and blind everyone behind you! The ability to switch between the bar and GTC is priceless. No need to decide between the two, you can have them both with a toggle of a switch. Genius.

Yes, I perform installs so maybe I'm biased, but this is the kit I want for my car...

Thanks for the comments Garrick! Coming from you who possesses great ingenuity for making things for the NSX I'm beyond flattered. Hope to keep sending you customers your way for installs!
