Need part numbers for a complete timing belt kit job

Thanks for providing the definitive list of parts needed. Can anyone confirm whether this gasket, by quite a margin the most expensive of the bunch, is included in kit 305?

Also, wouldn't the crankshaft seal be worth changing while in there? Part number 91212-PR7-A01.

No it is not in the 305 kit. The kit includes water pump, lower timing belt cover, and the gasket that seals the drip tube that goes through the cover, but it does not include 11841-PR7-A00.

Changing the crank seal is not a bad idea, I can only say in 17+ years, never had one fail;).....

Within a couple of $, your parts prices look to be the current prices at the discount parts dealers.

Just out of curiosity and because I have to deal with this next year or the year after at the latest, I checked on the water pump prices. It appears that Acura (at least Delray) has sussed out the pricing discrepancy between 19200-PR7-305 and 19200-PR7-A03 parts. A03 is now about $7 cheaper than 305, so unless you need or just want the extra parts it is no longer cheaper to buy the upgrade kit.

[Edit: Just noticed, Larry Bastanza was much quicker than me. It took some time for me posting the reply as I was logged out every time when I tried the 'preview' or 'go advanced' option....]

Nope. 11841-PR7-A00 is not included in the WP set -305.

Not sure @Old Guy is aware of this but for the clarification, you would be better off getting the WP set -305 if there is only $7 difference over the -A03.

19200-PR7-A03:
Just the later spec WP with gasket pre-installed. Nothing else included. Requires the later spec TB lower cover.

19200-PR7-305:
Consists of following three parts and thus, much cheaper than buying all three separately.
19200-PR7-A03: as mentioned above, just the later spec WP with gasket pre-installed.
11810-PR7-A02: later spec TB lower cover.
11816-PR7-000: WP seepage grommet.

And yes, it's worth replacing the crank seal 91212-PR7-A01.
You can check the condition of existing seal before making decision but since it's not that expensive parts and from time to time, it was on back order in Japan so just order it.

Some of the information is very old and no longer correct (I better update it) but this is the parts list I'm using for my Eng Refresh.
You don't need all of them if you are doing just the standard TB/WP service.

Also, you may find some of the photos useful during the actual service;

Yes, definitely a better price if you have an early car and prior to Acura / Honda adjusting the prices a better price even if you had the later car with the later pump (as per Larry B's earlier post). Unless the lower cover needs replacement, its a bit of a toss up if you are like me and have a later car with the later design cover already.

Not discussed in this thread is another important item to check- the timing belt cover gaskets. On many NSXs, especially ones that have already had the TB/WP service, these gaskets may be pinched or missing completely (they fall out of the covers and the tech forgets to put them back in during reassembly). These gaskets are expensive, but critical for keeping debris and moisture out of the timing belt cavity.

11841-PR7-A00 (this may come with the 305 kit, I can't remember)
11842-PR7-A00
11843-PR7-A00
11844-PR7-A00
11845-PR7-A00
11865-PR7-A00
11866-PR7-A00
11867-PR7-A00
11875-PR7-A00
11876-PR7-A00
11877-PR7-A00

I'm going to do my 2nd WP/TB change on my car this spring. Should we all be buying this gasket 11841-PR7-A00 for our next change?

Is there any benefit to the smoothness of the engine if we change the Harmonic Balancer/Crankshaft Pulley?

Kaz replaces all the gaskets as part of his engine refresh service. Of course, if the gasket is missing, you should replace it. Otherwise, you can also do an inspect and replace. Basically, remove the gasket, clean it and check to see if the rubber is still soft or if it has any cracks. If it looks good, you can re-use it. If it is as hard as a rock and full of cracks, I would replace it.

The harmonic damper uses rubber to moderate the vibrations of the crankshaft, so it stands to reason as the rubber degrades and loses elasticicity, the damping effect lessens. Maybe it was psychsomatic, but when I replaced the damper on my last NSX, the engine felt smoother to me. I recommend changing the damper every other TB job for normal use NSXs and every TB job for NSXs that are used in high heat, high rpm environments.

OEM part numbers/description (not Honda part numbers)

timing belt: T231 (231 is the number of teeth, search on "T231" for alternate sources. If it is made in Japan then it is OEM as there is only one supplier for this size belt. Gates contracts with OEM).

timing belt tensioner: Koyo is OEM. P/N: PU246529RR9FYS02. Bearing Number: PU246531RR9F which has to be pressed on. Also: Altron ATM 60213

thanks fellas, for the great list of parts! For 2023 will need to check pricing again....

We have a 2003 NSX with around 20k miles, would it still need the service based on age for the 60k service or just the timing belt service is all that is needed?

Figured while we have the car apart we might as well do all the preventative stuff as needed!
