Encounters with celebs - tell your story

The two most famous people I've met:
Colonel Sanders of KFC fame. My dad ran a KFC franchise in the 60's and 70's, and the Colonel visited a few times. I helped him stir a pot of gravy he made from scratch. Somewhere, there's a picture of me and my sister with him. I'm NOT bringing that one out, as the kid-in-a-leisure-suit look should not be revisited.

From what I have read and heard he was a hard wrking SOB.

I've met many celebs in my life, one of my favorite and most memorable were Gwen Stefani back in like '94 and Kurt Warner in '99...I am replying to this post today becuse I just met one of my favorite players of all time at the local Chevy dealerships today..Marshall Faulk was there doing a signing..I think he is part owner of the place.

was way cool!!!

I met Lil' John on friday night outside some club in hollywood... I'm 6'4" and this dude is about a foot and a half shorter than me ... haha pretty funny...

also met Jeff Goldbloom in Kinkos a few years back and
met Kevin Spacey outside Arclight Theater in hollywood and
met Stephen Hawking at a lecture in Pasadena

and a few others I can't think of ....

Tim Allen....met him at a car show last year....total jacka$$. He was with some super high maintenance arm candy that was equally snotty. Tried to compliment him on his Ferrari 330 GTC that he brought to the show and he would not even say 'thanks' just looked over at me and looked away with a bothered look on his face. I talked to some other people that were there that day, and they got the same treatment.

My brother used to work at some really nice clubs in Indy, and met a ton of celebrities. He said that without a doubt, the guys from Nickleback are the coolest people he ever met. The lead singer, Chad Kroger, is one of the nicest people ever. Evidently the band came in the night before a show, had their roped off area, and ordered drinks. My brother (knowing who they were) acted like he didn't, and asked them what they were in town for. Evidently Chad looked at him, smiled, and asked him if he was kidding (in a nice way since everyone at the bar was kissing their butt except my brother). My brother looked at him straight faced and said, 'Are you guys in some sort of band or something,' and this evidently amused him and the rest of the band so much that Chad Kroger got one of his people to come over and said, 'This kid is awesome, and is coming to our show tomorrow. Get him whatever he wants,' and Chad asked my brother how many tickets he wanted. My brother, half joking, said something like, 'I have about 40 friends,' and they gave my brother 40 VIP tickets, front row, with back stage passes to their Indianapolis concert. Plus they invited my brother to party with them for the rest of the night. How cool is that?

Stories like that make me like Nickelback even more knowing they are normal guys, and deserve their success. I have talked to others who have met them and everyone has said that they are super cool and normal guys.

My father-in-law use to race in the Trans Am circuit. Paul Newman came over to borrow something and my wife (she was very young) asks after Newman leaves, Who was that?

On our honeymoon in Nassau in the Bahamas, my wife and I briefly met Wyclef Jean. He was with his family at the airport, and remarkably everyone in the airport was either oblivious, or respectful, as no one was bothering him.

At one point wyclef got up to go somewhere, and another young couple cornered him right in front of where my wife and I were sitting, and he graciously talked with them. You could tell he was slightly annoyed at how much of a 'scene' they were making. Eventually, they asked for picture with Wycleaf, which he reluctantly obliged - I think he was worried people might notice him if he started posing for pictures.

To be nice my wife volunteered to take the picture for the couple, who didn't even say thank you, though Wyclef did. Long story short, she hit the power button instead of the "take picture button" (seriously what's that button called?) and turned the camera off without realizing it. Wyclef left and the couple stood there thinking the camera malfunctioned, but I saw what happened.

To this day my wife feels terrible. Had they been nicer or more respectful I might as well, but since they came off as kinda pushy, I think it's hilarious.

I saw Brock Lesnar today when my wife and I were out eating lunch. He is known as a friendly down to earth guy. He looks just as strong in person as on TV.

1. I was one of the trumpeter on the opening float of 2010 Roses Parade, at the end, we get to chat with Chesley Sullenberger. He was very gracious because our float lead his carriage and but was toasted by the sun. Nice guy.

As an extra on the movie set of "The Other Sisters" through my old college band.
2. Tom Skerritt - Super cool guy, not as chatty but very humble.
3. Giovanni Ribisi - Super hyper and was very good with following the director.
4. Juliette Lewis - Super annoying and stupid; all she does was complaining about the schedule and reshoots of the scenes.
5. Diane Keaton - What a lovely lady. Super friendly and chatty. Ask us a lot of about the band.

As an extra on the movie set "The Truman Show."
6. Jim Carry - He is as funny off the set as he is on the set. He picked up a trombone and tried to pay it.

As an extra on the set of "Austin Powers, Man of Mystery."
7. Mike Myers. Same as Jim Carry, hung out with us, the band members the almost the hole time.

As an extra on the 2009 Super Bowl Budweiser commercial... I got to play with the BW dog in the semi container horse carrier. That dog had it's own suite and everything, living the life!

As an extra on the set of "Coach Carter"
8. Had a cigar with Sammuel L Jackson, and he recognized me from six month prior, when I ran into him at a cigar shop in Malibu. Nice guy and very sarcastic and funny, was cracked couple of Jedi jokes with him and he was very good sports about it. "Only two black man in SW universe, one was him, the other one was Lando!"

On the set of American Pie Band Camp, I was part of the camp counselor buy my scene got cut. It was funny watching the crew baby sitting all the teen stars. Rather high maintenance.

And finally,

On the set of "Monk" for the episode with the time capsule. I played a small town band geek playing pep tunes. Didn't met the main star but hung out with the old man from "Old School." He was over 80 years old and picked up one of our snare drum and started whipping ass. He used to be in a home town drum and bugle corps.

System of the Down music video - Didn't know the song nor I care about the band. I was one of the soldier in ski mask raiding the club in an old abandon building. All of those guys are super short with girl friends that are at least 12 inches taller than them. Half way through the shoot, the set became a huge pot smoking party - in an abandoned building in downtown L.A. I left shortly after that.

These guys....

Oscar "Can you please KILL - DESTROY Jon "Bones" Jones for me? he has 0 respect, and killed my brazilian Shogun" ...
Rashad: "I am dying to teach him a lesson, I can't stand Jones, he is to cocky and has no respect to the sport Legends can't wait!"

Sadly the fight was cancelled due Jones injury, he end up fighting Tito Ortiz, and winning easy.

I have meet a bunch of others but I am lazy to write right now, I don't like to talk nor look at them, only if REALLY there's no way out I talk etc ..

Ok I have the best one yet.

I was in Paris in 2001 and was getting a bite to eat with my GF and her parents at a very fancy restaurant, and while we were being escorted to our booth we look over and see Sean Connery in a both with a very very young man and they were kissing repeatedly on the lips and Sean was running his fingers thru this guys hair.
we all saw it and I was in total shock as he was one fo my favorite 007's
he was like Clint Eastwood when it came to what a man was supose to be.

not that its a bad thing but, come on Sean you could pull female ass better than an Omish Donkey

Not me but my wife, daughter and her boyfriend. Got them VIP parking,VIP seats, backstage and tour bus access to Keith Urban and the other guy who opened for him in Dallas at American Airlines center about a month ago. I am not into country, but my 15yr old daughter said it was the best night of her life....
For what its worth, got tickets from one of Mark Cubans buddies.....

Met P.L. Newman & wife Joanne back in the day at the SCCA Run Offs when I was crewing for a friend of mine that was running GT2. Great guy, if you were on a race team, he'd invite you over for a bowl of chili and talk about the track. Man did have some serious driving skills even though he did have the best machinery there. Didn't care for the fans trying to get an autograph, though. Wasn't rude, just very business-like.

Flew back from Atlanta with Michael McDonald one time---really nice guy but seriously short, wouldn't think that voice could come out of that body.

Got drunk with Jimmy Buffett one night at the Exit/In back in the early '70s when he was living in Nashville before he moved to Key West, had a drink with Neil Young at Friday's. There's been others but I'm old and I forget---

^^
Awesome story, awesome man!

Back in 2001 I had this old man next to me in one of the obscure curves in the streets of Miami, when the Indy Race used to be @ the street, he was next to me, we talked a BUNCH about cars, racing etc, even about an NSX was one of the cars that before the race were flying around ... etc .. turns out it was him, such sweet man, he stopped next to me on his little scooter, to see the guys doing that specific corner ..
I took a pic of him with me, and ONLY because people started to take his pics, I was, who is this?? He was already very old, but 100% energetic.

He left, say good bye, shacked hands .. good memories, RIP!

Paula Abdul in 1988 at the grocery store I was working at.
Muhammad Ali at Pan Am Plaza in Indianapolis in 1987.
Gloria Estefan at Pan Am Plaza in Indianapolis in 1987.
Gene Hackman (well I brushed his shoulder on purpose) in 1986 during the making of "Hoosiers."
John Mellencamp in 2008 or 2009 in Columbus Indiana (went for a handshake and was denied).
George Strait in 2002 at a concert.
Gene Simmonds in 2005 in Las Vegas. Started to take his picture then one of his associates warned me not to do so.

Oscar, he was a great guy, wasn't he? It was the early '80's when I had the pleasure of his company so he would have been in his 60's then and could STILL drive the shit out of that Nissan. What was great was that P.L. was then driving for Bob Sharp who's son was Scott Sharp! Talk about an assload of driving talent! You could learn a lot about driving by just sitting around and listening to all of them talk---
